Also fun fact: 5sos, Harry Styles and Taylor Swift have all said they’ve been inspired by the 1975, or have expressed being a fan of theirs. They’re also very well known in the industry because they produce their own music and run a record label!
It’s interesting you said they’re trying to be rockstars because that’s actually Matty’s whole thing! He always says in interviews that people who don’t know the band think he’s a cliche and he’s trying to be a rockstar, but the fans of the band know that he knows he’s not a rockstar, and think it’s funny that those people think he is. I love the 1975 and think you should definitely persevere with them, because there’s more layers to discover!! :)
I think the fact that Matty and Taylor are currently seeing each other will be the inspirations for TS 11. I know Taylor, she is soaking all the inspirations.
They have many big great songs like Robbers, Somebody Else, About you, Medicine, Love it if we made it, It’s not living if it’s not with you, I think this one’s a bit more chilled back compared to some others

i wanted to like them to. they just dont grab me. that is not to say they are not good and talented. the few songs i have heard left me flat. just my opinion. HUGE REM FAN TO.

People cheering for song about somebody wanting to kill themselves. I hate songs like this. This is an entire genre of music, fostered first and foremost, by bands like Nirvana, IMO. This is a sinful world, that's why we suffer. This life is supposed to be difficult. Turning your problems over to God's forgiveness and help, is the answer, not giving in to despair and giving up, by focusing only on your sorrow, hurting yourself and others. I'm tempted to go all Ebeneezer Scrooge on this dude, and say; "you want to kill yourself? You might as well hurry up and do it, and decrease the excess population!" But that's not appropriate. That's why I don't like alot of "metal" music, either. Most of it is people screaming obsenities at the top of their lungs, telling everyone how angry they are. We get it. You're angry. So am I. We all are. We have enough negativity and anger in the world, right now. We need a counter flow of positivity and hope more than ever, IMO.
you clearly didnt listen to the lyrics. I think this comment perfectly sums up exactly why I and many others will scream songs like this at the top of our lungs. When youve faced situations like this and are able to come out the other side youre allowed to be proud of yourself, youre allowed to express how those situations made you feel. its cathartic. stop policing peoples emotions and trying to push religion onto others as a way of "being helpful." if that helps you, great! im glad youve found a way to process your emotions, i really am, but music is also a valid way of doing that. if you dont like songs like this, then dont listen to them. dont try and tell others what their answer is.

@Heavenly Sonshine does this crowd look like it’s being hurt by this? I’d argue it is actually the opposite feeling the crowd is experiencing. They don’t look like they’re “suffering” to me.
P.S. explicitly stating what you’re “tempted” to say, followed by, “but that’s not appropriate”…has the exact same effect as just saying it.
