Fun story: since I didn't speak much English when I first played ALTTP as a child, I completely missed the clue about Blind the Thief. So I had no idea what to do in Thieves' Town with that girl that kept following me around but refused to leave the dungeon or go up to the last floor. I eventually led her to the boss room, and figured I'd lead her into the light to show off to the boss (who I figured must be looking at us through the overhead window) that I freed her and piss him off. Boy was I surprised when she turned out to be the boss!
@8:50 if I entered the dark world I think I'd be a bear. They're one of my favorite animals and they're one of the strongest of the wild animals. They're awesome too
What I like about ALTTP’s Ganon is how subtle he was in taking over Hyrule from within. His way of secretly creating problems and then under a public persona very publicly fixing them in order to gain popularity and the trust of the people and the king was rather like Darth Sidious.
Your thoughts on Agahnim are the same ones I've always had. If you look at the illustrations of him in the manual you can see Sheikah imagery on his clothes, which would imply he is somehow connected to them.
It doesn't look quite the same, which could just be time. But what if the reason they never saw magic like it before was b/c Aghanim was from another place?
I love your guy's ideas, man growing up playing this game as a kid was so amazing. I beat it so many times. Rediscovering it as a randomizer is highly recommended.

I think your Agahnim being his own dude is legit. I felt like he was ambitious and fell upon a path to Ganon in order to augment his own power only to be completely possessed by Ganon- but he probably always was evil
I actually really like Agahnim's backstory from one of the manga where he was originally the best friend of Link's father and ultimately the reason that Link's parents weren't around to raise their son.
16:10 when I first got this game as a kid I always thought Agahnim was Ganon because I used to mispronounce his name as a-GAN-im, like Ganon without the first syllable. Then after I fought him the second time and saw Ganon rise from the wizard’s corpse that sealed the deal.

I have since beaten this game more times than I could ever count, thanks for the video man, I’ve been watching your content lately, got a subscribe ^^
The thing is this isn't the only time Anghnim appeared in the Zelda timeline. Later after the Death of Ganon, the brother of Zelda was compelled by an adviser named Anghnim to force the Princess to reveal the location of the location of the Triforce of Courage, who placed a curse on her that could only be broken by reuniting all of the triforces.
Never heard that wizard being called Aghanim. And the Sleeping Zelda in Zelda II that you mention was put to sleep long before the events of the original game - given all the other information we have I'd say somewhere between ALttP and the first NES game. It wouldn't make sense for both wizards to be Aghanim.
16:44 This is actually what id always thought happened. It was only later id heard he was an alter ego of Ganon, which i just dont find as satisfying as him being a person himself used as a tool, like Zant had been
I'd like to think I'd turn into a dog- or wolf-like creature because of the loyalty aspect. But more likely I'd turn into some sort of nocturnal, cave troll since I'm always up at odd hours and rarely go outside. Lol
Thank you so much for your time and energy on this! I started watching since your jump to second wind. And this is becoming one of my favorite series at the moment.
I think you should have specified which A Link to the Past manga you were mentioning, as there are 3 completely different full adaptations. One by Himekawa, one by Cagiva, and one by Ishinomori. My personal favorite is Cagiva's ALTTP.
When I first played the game, I was confused at how tough the ball and chain knight was, to the point where I thought I missed something. I eventually beat him, but I’ve had a grudge against ball and chain enemies in Zelda since then.
I would probably turn into a housecat, honestly. Spend most of the day sleeping, or wishing I could be asleep, only to get the zoomies at 3am? Yup. That me.
19:20 "Ganon is finally soundly defeated by being fatally shot with a Light Arrow." Respectfully, I just wanted you to be aware those are actually Silver Arrows, not Light Arrows. Light Arrows didn't come until Ocarina of Time.
Also note that these silver arrows are given by the fat fairy, not Zelda. Zelda possibly crafts light arrows from the Light Force mentioned in Minish Cap

i think my dark world self would be a chicken. just walking around aimlessly. I agree with your possession theory on Agahnim. we've seen it happen with Zant and similar with Impa and Nayru in Oracle of Ages.
I’d probably turn into a vampire made of pure darkness. I… don’t do well with sunlight, and I’m very flexible, and, when I don’t speak, which is rare, I’m basically undetectable. I’d just be the weird enemy that you can give monster pieces for rupees.
Its cool to see some alttp content. It's over shadowed by ocarina of Time, but many fans of the latter games don't get that this one introduced the lore and bulk of the weapons the series still revolves around. Nice vid.
The theory of agonym would make sense on a lore level as to why the king trusted a man who’s always existed rather than a faraway wizard who suddenly made things better for the kingdom. Maybe that’s how I see it but it’s a valid theory nonetheless and I approve!
Wart's bubbles seem to be eggs. It's likely just meant to be the same enemy. I also believe that giant turtle uses a Helmasaur King shell. And I'd turn into some kind of corvid.
There's a last boss : in the GBA exclusive 4 Swords Palace, you fight at the end 4 Dark Links Likely they're a trial to prove a hero's worthiness of the Triforce, just like in Zelda II, considering they are in the Pyramid, but Ganon either beat or bypassed them.
I've speculated about the true nature of Agahnim since I first played ALTTP way back when. My theory is that he is essentially a beefier Phantom Ganon, perhaps with more of Ganon's power poured into him then the regular Phantom Ganon. The most telling aspect of Agahnim is that he alone is unaffected by the Dark World's power; he doesn't transform to reflect what is in his heart. The reason must be that he either protects himself from the effect somehow, or his heart is empty and he is essentially a mindless puppet with nothing to reflect. I tend to believe the latter to be the case.
The way I understood it playing the game is that Aghanim is the counterpart of Ganon, as seen in ALBW everyone has a Lorule counterpart and considering the game is heavily inspired by ALttP, there may be some sort of Dark World counterparts too (that just were for most slaughtered by Ganon). You can still see some counterparts such as the Ku being it of the River Zoras, Catfish could be the counterpart of King Zora, the bomb shop guy could be it of Link etc. The fact the Dark World and Lorule share a lot of bestiary could also imply something among those lines
Imagine if the Gloom Hands in TotK took different (and stronger) forms that kept the eyes but imitated all those old eyeball bosses. And the form I'd take? Probably a Hinox-type who isn't agressive and is instead a nerd. A *giant* nerd.
4:43 I couldn't help but laugh at that, because why would you wonder what that tastes like?? I'm just glad I wasn't the only to ever have that disturbing thought lmao If I were transformed by going into the Dark World, I'd probably become a brown recluse spider. I prefer to keep to myself, I can live in most any climate but prefer a colder, greener environment and I have some artistic talent.
If i went to the Dark World, I'd probably be a jester of sorts, as I'm always cracking jokes and making sarcastic comments(both biting and just humorous)
Dark world transformation.. for the few dozen times I've played this game, I've never truly considered what my nature would turn me into. My normal nature is loving father and husband, dedicating almost all of my time to taking care of, and protecting my family. I'd probably turn into some kind of shield wielding statue creature. Expression locked in stone, unable to speak, carrying a giant shield I can never drop, but hanging out in the dark world equivalent of Zora's River. Because even if Link can't get there, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And I'd like to think I could still hear the waterfall and pick flowers with my free hand, boulder fingers be damned, haha. And if Link ever showed up somehow, SIDE QUEST!
I would like to think I would transform into a yeti in the dark world, but with the lack of snowy areas, I guess the next best thing would be a sasquatch
My impression (which I just got while watching this video), is Ganon somehow created another portal from the Dark World into the Light World. This portal was much more subtle (to escape detection). Using it, Ganon was slowly able to influence events over a long time. This portal was likely at Death Mountain. A few things in game explain this... > The kid with the Bug Net talks about getting sick from the evil air coming off the mountain. > The mountain is where Link first accesses the dark world. > The mountain is where Ganon's Tower is (in the dark world). Maybe it could be argued there was more then one portal. Maybe all of the dark world warp tiles were leaking miasma from the dark world into the light world.
Awesome job making modern connections. Super cool. Always makes me look at how greenish zonai colors of certain ruins is in LTTP. Same with ocarina ganondorf wears zonai colored jewelry
you made a mistake in the video: when discussing ganon, you say link shoots him and defeats him with a "light arrow" this is incorrect. it is the Silver Arrow.
I’d probably turn into…I dunno, a squirrel? 😁 The armoses(??) are the ones I remember the most from LttP, other than the Ganon fight itself, and the giant bouncy Moldorm. I also remember the cool air-jump/double-jump the landmolas get, which is super dope.
For me I would change into 1 of 3 things, and it depends on my reasons for going into the dark world. #1, a dog, this is if I am looking to protect a loved one. #2, a northern eyeball monster, if I went there because of curiosity. Or #3, a 3 headed chimera, due to my constant emotions acting like 3 different selves, despite the fact I don't have mpd.
I would be mixed Demon wolf in appearance, because I fight the anger I have, but wouldnt be harmful to someone. As said, Dark World twists you into a form that defines something in you, so my Anger would be the most "outward" form (demon) and then my loneliness, hence the wolf.
I'd turn into a cat-owl or an owl-cat of some sort, in the dark world. They are my favorite animals, and represent my werid-ass, naturally nocturnal self really well. :D Fun little question to share an answer to, btw. Thank you. 👍 Enjoyed it.
Which boss is your favorite from A Link to the Past? Wait... have ya'll played ALTTP? 😳
The final ganon fight
Blind and Ganon
Blind hands down best boss

"Blind the Thief" - Sounds like what Link would do in this game, considering that "stab the eyeballs" is usually the best boss strategy.
Not always. Sometimes it's hot the head with a giant maul.

I love how Blind is mentioned as early as the first trip to Kakariko in the beginning of the game and he even tells you his weakness.

So the waterfall Hinox from ALBW?
18:18 Almost spilled water into my screen thanks to this XD
100% sex, me cracking up.
My headcanon is that Agahnim is the Hero of Time's body that he resurrected and controlled through necromancy.
Now _that_ is a twist! Would love to see that.
4:43 I couldn't help but laugh at that, because why would you wonder what that tastes like?? I'm just glad I wasn't the only to ever have that disturbing thought lmao
If I were transformed by going into the Dark World, I'd probably become a brown recluse spider. I prefer to keep to myself, I can live in most any climate but prefer a colder, greener environment and I have some artistic talent.
If i went to the Dark World, I'd probably be a jester of sorts, as I'm always cracking jokes and making sarcastic comments(both biting and just humorous)
Thumbnail makes it seem like it says "Lorf of the Bosses." Other than that, cool video!
I'd probably transform into a dolphin because that's what my Patronus is lol
Nice! That’s my favorite animal actually
I would like to think I would transform into a yeti in the dark world, but with the lack of snowy areas, I guess the next best thing would be a sasquatch
Glad to see non TotK content. Great work on the video.
But there is no connection to BotW or TotK at all. Sure the devs could have had some influence by ALttP but the lore certainly doesnt.
19:22 It's not a Light arrow, it's a Silver arrow. Light arrows are in Ocarina of Time.
I'm pretty sure I'd transform into an evil sloth. I wouldn't spend the energy to do anything bad, but I would definitely think about it.
8:55, i would transform into an angry angel, i guess
you made a mistake in the video:
when discussing ganon, you say link shoots him and defeats him with a "light arrow" this is incorrect. it is the Silver Arrow.
Moldorms also appear as bosses in Links Awakening
I'd probably be turned into a St. Bernard
I'd probably transform into something majestic in the Dark World.
Maybe an iridescent or holographic owl?
Think I’d be some reptile like thing if I was affected by the dark world
This video made me realize what a missed opportunity for storytelling each of these bosses was. Great character concepts.
Id be a crab in the dark world, and I i will not elaborate.
Trinexx = Tri Necks. Was always my interpretation. Boss has three necks so they pulled a lazy naming lol.
I’d probably turn into…I dunno, a squirrel? 😁
The armoses(??) are the ones I remember the most from LttP, other than the Ganon fight itself, and the giant bouncy Moldorm. I also remember the cool air-jump/double-jump the landmolas get, which is super dope.
cant wait for the oracle games to be analyzed
I really hope he gets to Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.
They have some great bosses.
Spirit Tracks bosses made me feel the most rage I had ever felt in my life. I used an emulator though.
"And he was 100% sex" I had to pause cause I was laughing too hard xD
Oh gosh if I were in the dark world, I think I’d end up as a scruffy pup. Friendly, optimistic, smart, people-pleasing, loves sports, loves a good nap
8:48 To answer your question Bandit, if I went to the Dark World, the animal I would probably transform into is a white tiger.
I think I’d transform into a cat. A very angry cat.
If I ended up in the Dark World, I’d probably be a mole or something that hides because I’m a coward.
I would be mixed Demon wolf in appearance, because I fight the anger I have, but wouldnt be harmful to someone.
As said, Dark World twists you into a form that defines something in you, so my Anger would be the most "outward" form (demon) and then my loneliness, hence the wolf.
8:47 sigma Patrick beatman haha
I'd probably transform in to a Cat! Or a Halloween Witch! Or maybe I'd just stay the same!?! Great video! 😊
2:05 - "Hello I seem to have misplaced my spine have you seen it"
I'd turn into a cat-owl or an owl-cat of some sort, in the dark world. They are my favorite animals, and represent my werid-ass, naturally nocturnal self really well. :D Fun little question to share an answer to, btw. Thank you. 👍 Enjoyed it.
