Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.

Sultan Süleyman, padişahlığının ilk gününde verdiği buyruklarla nasıl bir padişah olduğunu göstermek ister. Ama bu kararlar herkesin hoşuna gitmeyecektir. Sultan Süleyman ise gönderdiği mesajlarla, tüm Avrupa’ya meydan okumaktan çekinmez.
Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. Eşi ile görüşmeyi sabırsızlıkla beklemektedir.

Women aren’t having it good now. We have to work in the same time keep the women duties so we have more duties now and unfortunately it’s more tough because our bodies with period and stuff not meant to be working 24hours plus keep up with women duties. We just have more stuff going on and still women aren’t respected
I mean, she brought this upon herself. Hurrem became the sultan’s favorite, but if Mahidevran didn’t spend so much of her time scheming against Hurrem, the sultan wouldn’t have pushed her further and further away and she probably would’ve had more children. If only she was able to get over her feelings for him.
You should watch the series again because Mahideveran did try to spend time with him and get close to him but he never gave her any love and affection that she desired. He would ignore her.

The problem was that Mahidevran thought the Sultan would love her forever and she would be his favourite forever. This is not how it goes in the harem. There are always more women comeing in and everyone of them can take your spot like that. She should have known better. If she didn't try to be more that she actually was her son would have been alive longer and she would have had a better life.
Feel so sorry for Mahidevran here. Even with her man around, she has no man beside her to meet her needs. Love, like jealousy is really blind and not without consequences.

Unfortunately, that was how things worked in that time in the Ottoman Empire. Women in the harem would receive a higher status if they gave birth to sons instead of daughters.

I don't think they were aware of mental health during those times. Opening up and pouring out sorrows was rather seen as a sign of weakness. So, the more you suppressed your frustrations, the more "heroic" and "brave" you were called.

Magidevran knew she couldn't be pregnant as Suleiman never slept with her, even on the nights she spent in his chamber. Gulsah was the culprit! She was trying to score points against Hurrem and so told the others in the harem her sultan was with child, the rumors reached Valide, and is the reason for the humiliation of Mahidevran.

@@mazerunner1339 i don't agree with that, if u watch the 1st episode of the show, Suleiman was already over mahidevran by the time hurrem came in, he was only happy to see Mustafa and not mahidevran even when she came to palace. Also he got really mad when instead of hurrem, mahidevran showed up in his chamber by that time he didn't spend even a single night with hurrem. So no hurrem was not the problem, the problem was that Suleiman wasn't in love with mahidevran anymore.
