This was the best Escape, the quality, the reliability and the design is better than any generation after it!
Why is that
@@walterwhite1 because it was jointly developed with Mazda. Lots of components are shared. Escape = Mazda Tribute. Also, Fusion = Mazda6.
@@kimochi33oh I was wondering why this escape kind of looked like my dads tribute in some ways, like the windows and the seats
Agreed! I still drive my Gen 1 Limited V6 from 2003. The only issue with these is the rust, other than that this is a fantastic SUV.
@@kimochi33 Don’t forget Porsche helped design both engines the 2.5L inline 4 and 3.0L V6
I've owned my 2011 V6 Escape for 4 years now. That thing is 14 years old, 140K miles on it, and it has never, EVER broken down since I own it. Just the regular maintenance, and a few minor things like changing oxygen sensors, and ignition coils. Nothing major and it has never left me stranded. I love it
These older, Escape's are the best in reliability and quality.
I have a 2012 Escape with the 3.0 engine and 89K miles and it runs like a champ. It had 9800 miles when I bought it and I have had to do very few repairs. I just keep up with the maintenance schedule.
Same! Also have a 2012 with about 65k miles and it's been amazing!
I can confirm. I drive 2009 Ford Escape, but Hybrid Limited. The most reliable Ford ever built. As heavy used NY and San Francisco taxi and NYPD vehicle it reached 300,000 reliability. Mine is w/ 106 K mileage and goes
I purchased a 2009 XLT 2 years ago. It only had 45,000 miles and was clean as a pin. I was replacing a Honda accord that was totaled and was able to purchase this car for cash. After 2 years of ownership I have had to replace A/C condenser that was busted by a rock and had to have the rear seal replaced to correct an oil leak. It now has 62,000 miles. I really like this car and plan to keep it a while. Very easy to maintain myself and parts are cheap.
These Escapes are crazy reliable. I had a 2009 Escape FWD with a 3 Litre Duratec V6 and i absolutely loved that car, it was the best first car I could’ve ever had. I didn’t take care of it the way that I should’ve with it being my first car and it still lasted 230,000 kms, but I know I easily could’ve surpassed 300,000 in that thing. I then bought a 2011 Escape with the same engine but AWD this time, did all the proper maintenance, put a touch screen radio in it and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve taken it from the east coast of Canada through the east coast of the States and back and it proves time and time again just how fucking bulletproof and reliable these cars are if you take care of them.
Your car review is remarkable.
Agreed....I like mine, Limited came with great stereo system , can change ATF myself, smooth 6 speed & V6.....runs great
I have the Gen 1 2003 V6 Limited version and I love it dearly and still drive it it to this day. And fun fact, the Gen 1 Limited came with a built in Subwoofer in the trunk area.
I just recently bought one. The Duratec V6 engines have a ticking sound i wasn't use to hearing from other vehicles i have owned. I thought something was wrong with it but i was told it's just fuel injectors and is normal.
My 4cyl 2012 does it too. I mainly notice it in the winter
This was the last year for the Duratec V-6. This is still my favorite body style.
Fantastic review. Considering one of the same year’s but here in Canada they’re severely prone to rust. Not sure if rustproofing would help all that much
You are an excellent car reviewer. Great job pointing out jey features of the car. Also, fixing these cars are relatively cheap as parts are plentiful and engine structure is simple compared to today's more modern turbo engines.
I think that I buying this as my first car bro.
Excellent
Nearly 16 years later my '08 at 220K with original engine and trans is still kinda going but she is KINDA ready to go out, looking to get a '12 because I just really love this car!) I almost purchased the new one last week but I'm not ready for that car note and I still just enjoy this the 08-12 Escape!
Change the transmission oil filter and transmission solenoids...helps with transmission into changing gears..👍
How many miles till it will go out with this car
My mom and I purchased a 2023 HONDA CRV HYBRID SPORT on 5/26/2023 at HUGHES HONDA in Warner Robins, GA. We were going to buy the top of the line with leather but the SPORT with cloth was cheaper.
I'm really interested in getting a 4x4 version to use for camping and relatively light off road driving. Not overlanding, but want to get over stuff my little focus can't. What are your thoughts on how this suv could fill that role?
It should be capable enough for that I would think.
Just got mine, love it!!
Wow, thanks for straight and detailed review.
I was under the assumption that all Escape Limited versions were AWD. Maybe just the Canadian ones? We’ve had 2 of them, not LTD versions but v6, 3 litre AWD and nothing stops it. Peppy and the BMW drivers are always surprised when they’re beaten at the stoplight! Turn off TC and go!
It's nice. Do you think the 2013 model improved on details you pointed out? I am looking for a used reliable.
In my opinion, the 2013 and newer has some issues. The best model year is the 2012s
Uhhh, a little bit, I’ve been trying to get my hands on one to compare.
How's the ride quality? On fast speed and hitting bumps
I can tell you that the V6 uses barely more gas than the 4 banger.
what would you say the MPG is? City/Hghwy?
I have a 2008 Escape with that same engine. I now have over 175,000 miles on it. I’ve replaced the radio for one with Bluetooth and XM, but otherwise it’s virtually identical to the one in this video. Best car I’ve ever owned. Rides like new and I get 23-25 miles to the gallon on trips. Why can’t Ford make vehicles like this again. The new Escapes are total crap. I have driven several as rentals. Ecoboost engines are horrible. Put V6 engines back in the Escapes, Edges and Explorers and not that lousy 2.7 liter engine. I’m hoping that Ford brings this back and listens to its customers.
I have the 2008 Escape with the V6. This was a crossover year with the new Gen 2 body but retained the Gen 1 engine and 4-speed auto tranny (including OD), which I prefer because of its simpler non-VTEC design and better reputation for reliability.
your review was detailed and great.
I thought that all the limited edition were 4wd but I guess I was wrong. I have the exact same one but with the 4wd
That 2012 escape is my favourite car ever, I didn’t want the new model when I bought it because I like the square model better compared with the new one that just look like a big car
I have this car and only problems I have is the air-conditioning
1. Have your brainbox and wirings changed to super up your power.
2. Get new injectors & switch to motorcraft plugs; all six of em'.
3. Inspect for compressor/air leaks and/or change your compressor
i have 250k on mine...its a leaky rock.....goes well but not as well as the subaru turbo....
Bro what!!! The non working backup camera is cool af
😂😂😂
WOW a Limited. But oh wow no navigation package. Yikes. Well...🤔
Quiero comprar ese auto Ford escape limited 3.0 2012
hola que tan bueno es, acabo de pillarme uno modelo 2012 y me gusto mucho voy hacer negocio
The design looks like an dodge. It was the final MY for this old boxy escape where the sleeker enhanced was introduced for 2013 MY
Worst car I’ve ever had. Had to replace the transmission and alternator within the first 3 months of driving.
Sorry to hear that. 😔
Wow that’s crazy! I have a 2012 Escape with over 167,000 miles and it’s had no major issues 😬
Just bad luck. Other than that it should have ran faithfully.
Maybe because of previous owner drinving habits.
