great info,l wish you put this video out like a year ish ago when i put my h in my ek lol, I struggled so hard with everything you explained in the video
I know l did mentioned it when l was building the G23BK but not as detailed as this episode. I was showing the Insaneshafts back then and there's really not a whole lot of folks sharing info about it, l was struggling like you back then coz l never like how that axle installed on the car back then. Thanks man!
Same issues ive had on my 1994 prelude. Im using innovative front and rear mounts with stock side and transmission mounts. The rear one sits a bit lower than oem and ive had issues with the passenger side axle popping out
Before you remove the axle nut, turn the steering wheel either right or left (full turn) and see if you can feel the tri ball bearings. If you can then do the check of your axle length. I know there's a difference between 4th and 4th gen Prelude axle and nowadays aftermarket axle is so inexpensive and its all mix n' match. It's best if you can find an original axle.
I owned a 98 Prelude 12 yrs ago till it got on a wrecked. I kept the engine though and got it sleeved for turbo. Iwas using it on my Cd5 Accord and feautured on Automotive Anatomy. I might install it back one this day. For now, no plan acquring project cars hehehe, you know how it is. Thanks
I dont know how you tamed that motor in your ek man! You're not wheel hopping? But its good to know that someone are successful using stock mounts. Thanks brother
i swapped an f23 into a cb7 and the axle falls out / pops out / wobbles / drives like crap. I thought it was my diff in teh trans but now im thinking it might be this
Make sure to check the inner joint for correct length coz nowadays, there's to many aftermarket axles and all are mix and matched now. I experienced one time oil was leaking from my tranny and cant fogure it out till l replaced the tranny seal and turned out to be the inner shaft was too short (aftermarket axle). Do a check if you have a correct length and make sure that all your suspension components are in good condition. Hope you get it fix soon. Thanks brother
Hey Sagitt net, I need help with my build, my h22a4 blows a lot of smoke and misfires, the smoke is white/grey, I think it’s a blown head gasket so I did a compression test and got around 180 for each cylinder. I think it could also be the valve stem seals leaking oil into the cylinders but idk. I have an extra H22a4 head but it came from a blown motor that had a spun rod bearing and broke the piston and rod off. Should I just take my head off and take it to a machine shop or just take my other head to the machine shop and switch it?
White smoke is from a coolant and l think you would know if your motor is consuming oil before the white smoke. It must be headgasket, once you remove the head you'll see and check the head surface for flatness. If its more than 0.002" out of flatness, send it to a machine shop and also change the stem seal if you wish. Dont forget to check the block for flatness too, 0.004" is the limit and check make sure no sign of crack in between cylinders.
@@sagittnet2158 it consumes alot of oil too and it got black quick after an oil change, engine codes and for mis fire in any cylinder but i could still crack vtec tho lmao
@oghoneybuddha3721 Its normal for H22 to add a qt every 3k miles. If you have not seen a blue smoke when you decellerate and accelerate from the tail pipe or blue smoke/ tailpipe during 1st start of the day, your'e ok. If you do, it could be oil is coming from stem seals or piston rings. But white smoke at the tail pipe is a sign of headgasket is busted. If you ever work on your engine make sure to pay attention on frm sleeve. Check make sure its w/in limits (taper) otherwise if you just re-ring it. Oil comsumption will still be there.
If only some builders will stick to the core of building it and make sure it get tune afterwards, it'll be reliable. This engine l have before lt became turbocharged, it went on a dyno session 3x and drove it on the mountain for some enduranced run. You can see it from my videos, everything are there and we've seen it when l disassembled it what the internal look like but it's very unfortunate that the turbo piston l used, l kinda slip up and l didnt do a good job on p2w clearances otherwise if l only paid attention to it, it'll not have a piston slap on cold start. In my opinion its reliable.

Yeah beybih!
Have you ever thought about buying or building a prelude?
It originally came with an f or h series on it and they look nice

Im using the stock mounts in my ek civic 1996 H2B plateless

Great video! Lots of misinformation out there. I'm running yonaka shafts on my.96 ej8 h22a swap.
Thanks man! No issue on your Yonaka driveshafts, no vibes or any weird noise that you experience and also does your driveshafts in a so much angle?
I use gator racing axles based out of Florida
How was it, no issue using it. I guess it east coast west coast thing. Our side is InsaneShafts. Thanks for sharing man.
@ great product, no issues. I’ve snapped other axles in my differential but these have held up great
@danm4158 thanks man!

I even did a leak test on the coolant, I don’t lose any pressure

How reliable is a g23 vtec??
