I own/run an escape room business. These are great tips! Had to giggle over almost all of them... how many times has the clue given been "Look through the books!" or "Don't overcomplicate it".
But for owners, I have to say that replacing those stupid combo locks when they first start to fail is key to keeping things a great experience for clients. It's a $5-$10 expense that saves SO MUCH pain for the players, game masters and your reputation. I can't count how many times that people who have done our rooms that complain about other rooms where a lock didn't work. Do weekly checks! (same thing with batteries and markers)
Also: Directional locks are the work of the devil - they fail often and early. We do directional puzzles, but they are capacitive touch or buttons with a raspberry pi or trinket to run. So much more reliable.
ever presume the game master wants you to lose? Nope, they want you to be challenged. We tend to want players to see and understand all our cool puzzles.
My personal favorite tip: leave keys in their locks. I've been giving that tip to all my players for years
Challenged! Love that. - 🔐
Great tips man I’m doing one tomorrow and this is definitely going to help
These are all huge tips. My family and I have used them all in the 20+ escape rooms we have done. I even picked up a few pointers in making an escape room. Love your content!
Thanks Amy!! Y’all sound like pro’s. May need to have y’all on the show. :)
@@LegacyEscapeBox we are far from pros but we do work really well together. We'd love to do a show sometime but it may be a challenge to get us all in one place long enough. 😁 that's what happens when your kids grow up.
thank youu
Wow, these tricks work so well!!!
My daughrter and I LOVE doing these, 1 for 2 so far. Thanks for tips, we DEF yell out to eachother often.

We did a game last month with a moderator that tried to get us to fail! We had just 5 mins left on the clock and the game master was still giving hints for an earlier puzzle that we'd already beaten, when in fact the problem was a faulty contraption wasn't unlocking even though we'd put the pieces in place. Afterwards she said it was to give us "the full experience" and said we "didn't solve the puzzles in the INTENDED order". We were so angry at her. (We still won, despite her meddling!!)
@@LEWIS1992 isn’t that crazy how a piece might not work? In those cases, the game master should explain that it should work and help you on your way. Congrats on the win!! 🏆
Great content!
We’re going to an escape room today! Hopefully this will help!
Good luck!
"What if you're the only one in the room?"
Still communicate. I've played games solo and it's a very different experience, but you still have to talk. You're thinking out loud but moreover you're enabling the GM to keep track of where you're up to.
@@UKCougar GREAT points!!
Very nice and interesting video =) Gathering the group of new player, and this video helped them out a lot =)
Thanks for the vid
Myself and my partner are reaching out 348th escape room and it is crazy we have an escape rate of 320 out of 338
@@game_king250 That is 🏆🏆🏆
I've done multiple escape rooms by myself! 🤣
Of course!! Epic!! I guess when you’ve done hundreds of them you’re bound to have some solos in there 🔑
Every time the word "Clue" is mentioned, my mind hears South Park's Hardly Boys saying it.
I’m doing my first one today
Sounds fun
