I know this video is about transparencies, but for the typewriter cipher you can actually just pop those keys off and shuffle them around. Then they can use the cypher by actually typing into the typewriter and the message is typed out on paper. It's a fun tactile cipher and most people don't even notice that the keys are different until your clues lead them to inspect it more closely.
I've got a typewriter collection and these ideas are GOLD! I've also seen people use USB Typewriter kits to connect a Typewriter to a smartphone, tablet, or computer. This allows for many uses: activating a screen via password, using Arduino to have antique phone ring with further clue, etc
I usually do a yearly murder mystery LARP... but also add puzzle trails for the characters to solve. For example: theme was mad scientist's Halloween Party where the host had been murdered. Each character had their own personal objectives (aside from solving the murder). The ghost character had to solve puzzles that would help her find where her body was so it could be put to rest. The adventurer character had to find the legendary Cross of Van Helsing. Characters we around and talk to one another, gaining and giving clues to each other as to where to start their puzzle trails, flesh out stories, solve the mysteries, etc
My girlfriend and I make an escape room every year for Halloween. Your videos have made our rooms so much better and fill us with ideas! I can't believe you don't have more subscribers. Keep up the good work!
@@LegacyEscapeBox I made an escape room with this idea! th-cam.com/video/YYGWTVvXelw/w-d-xo.html I talk about the keyboard transparency idea around minute 9. Let me know what you think!
You can also have images printed onto transparencies (like Xerox images)... This can create a very professional looking puzzle clues. I loved the dry erase idea!!!
5:57 - Another alternative to this is to use only dots to spell out a numbers for a code. This makes it harder as it could be any number and the transparency could be any way round!
replace the typewriter keys with the alphabet starting from the top left. Deciphered message is: VIYMID -> COOLER ODCXC -> SMART LEHSE -> JUMP JHOCIY -> GREAT

Can you just review your own maked escape room for others and step by step explain all startings with endings😁?!
I can try and do more of those :)
I used plexiglass and sharpie to great success.
That works great too!! Thanks for sharing :)
