Amazing video, thanks so much. I've never managed to get to the VLM , even when I've had a place, because of injuries. But your video really brought it to life - and you made it look far too easy! Many congrats
Thanks Geoff, oh no that's frustrating about injuries. Hope you get to do it one day as I think you saw how awesome it was from the video 🎉 Literally like a 26 mile party! My legs didn't think it was easy but I don't listen to them 😂 Pleased I could bring it to life for you 🤗
Congrats Nicola 💥 Great result - well done 👏 And wonderful race vlog of course too - I love it and have to admit that in the end I also got a bit emotional 😢😊 xx Jo

It was easy to forget you'd run 26+ miles in an awesome time, superb job. I'm running this this year for Children with Cancer, which will also be my very first marathon, so I've made a note of all the useful tips!

Hey Nicola - just watched the video and you managed to catch me running (or attempting to keep running) a bit behind you at mile 21 !! It was my first ever marathon and so lucky for it to be the London Marathon. I might have joined you in the "Oggy, oggy, oggy ..." in the Embankment Tunnel from memory ...... As you say, the crowds are amazing. Congrats on smashing 4:30 !
Hi Jan, thank you so much and huge congratulations on completing your first marathon! That's awesome! And even better that you joined in the Oggy AND spotted yourself in the video! 😃 Have you entered the ballot for next year? 🤔
I was very fortunate in getting a ballot place at my very first attempt so whilst I have indeed entered again, who wouldn’t want in front of those crowds, ’m not sure of my chances ….. Have you entered ? Maybe try for sub 4 in 2022, you can do it 👍
@@jancheng7618 I entered on the day on the train on my way to the startline! I figured I better do that because if I didn't achieve my goal or had a really bad race I thought I might feel too grumpy to afterwards 🤣 Fingers crossed we get in but like you say... We were lucky to last time so let's see what happens! 😃🤞 A sub 4 at London would be ace! 🏃♀️
Huge congratulations on your amazing time! I was meant to be running this year but injury and illness meant I had to defer. Fingers crossed for next year! Great video, thanks for sharing! 💛💛
Thank you so much Susie 😃 so sorry you couldn't run this year but it's good you have next year to look forward to! 🥰🏃♀️
What a smile! What a great attitude! Fine running also 😃
Thank you so much 🤗 what a lovely comment 😊
Well done Nicola, what a great time! 👏 Brilliant vlog too.
This is a race I really want to do but have been unsuccessful in the ballot many times, next year hopefully! 🤞
Fingers crossed for you! 🤞🤞🤞 And thanks, it was so fun and I was so happy to achieve my target! 😃
Well done, love watching your videos. I’m a keen parkrunner from Australia and would love to do the London marathon one year. Herein Australia we say “Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi” so you made me google search the origin of “Oggy Oggy Oggy”. Learnt something new today 😂😂😂 💛💛💛
Awww thank you 🤗 ooh that's interesting that you say Aussie, Oi! Ooh... Do tell... What are the origins? Or do I have to go and Google? I'm intrigued now! 😃
@@NicolaRuns hiya love the videos and a recent subscriber to your channel. The orgin of the oggy oggy oggy chant is from cornwall.Oggy is a pasty and was shouted out by the tin miners wives to which the reply was oi oi oi.Im from cornwall
@@andrewheather7091 thank you ☺️ oh that's ace, thank you for letting me know, super interesting! You learn something new everyday! 😃
@@NicolaRuns your welcome.Keep up the great videos
@@andrewheather7091 thanks, will do! I love making them because I swear I run round with my eyes closed as I never see anything 🤦♀️🤣 but when I'm filming then I see more and notice more so I love it more! 😃🏃♀️
Amazing! Definitely one of my favourites, such a great happy individual:)
Thank you so much! I'm happy most of the time but I find it impossible not to be with that much crowd support! It's so uplifting! And the music?! All those talented people out there just for us! It's awesome 😃😃😃
Great time well done Nic. Great reminder for me of when I did it back in 2008.
Thanks Brian ☺️ I was so pleased it still felt the same. I was so worried it'd be an anticlimax because of the restrictions but it was every bit as good as it always is... As you well know if you've run it! 😃
@@NicolaRuns yes it had it all that I remember!
We were talking about when your video for London would be on the drive to Manchester for the Marathon and then you go and drop it. Well done on the time 🥰
Ooh yay! Enjoy Manchester! The weather looks good 😃 Thanks re. the time. I was super pleased that I knew at around mile 17 that I had it in the bag so could slow down and really take in the atmosphere 🎉🎉🎉 P.S. I thought it'd take me longer to edit but I've got achy legs so have been happy to sit down a bit more this week 🤣🤣🤣
@@NicolaRuns Thanks it was a great trip! Lauren did amazing! 4 hours 7 mins for her first ever proper marathon and is definitely planning on sitting down a lot more this week before the pow wow 😂
@@JoshuaSmith2309 wow!!! Incredible time! Please pass on my congratulations 😃 🏃♀️💪
Great video, and well done on achieving your target time!
Thanks Arron 😃 I had the best day so achieving my target time was the icing on the cake! 🎉🎉🎉
I loved that, made me cry. I have not done the blue start so that was a nice insight too.
Awwww you big softie! 🤗🤗🤗 It was just an awesome day, huge thanks for facilitating it and for the cheers! It was just the best to see you guys! ❤️❤️❤️ Really gave me a boost! 😃
Oh and I took some footage of the blue start but I dropped it as the video was getting too long... This makes me think I should have put it in! 🤣 I filmed the toilet queues... The longest ever! 🤣🤣🤣
The GFA toilets were really long too. Less toilets this year. Somebody mentioned general portaloo crisis
@@beverlygow6757 ahhhhhh that explains it! I was surprised that the toilet queues were worse when the start areas were quieter?! Thanks for solving the mystery!
Well done, you look super fresh. Atmosphere looks incredible too.
This is my 19th ballot, so fingers crossed its 19th time lucky🤐
Thank you 🤗 No way?! You are super unlucky!!! I'll send you some of my ballot luck! I seem to get in a lot! 🤷🏻♀️ Everything crossed for you this year 🤞 The atmosphere was really just amazing! 🎉🎉🎉
@@NicolaRuns way! I know how unlucky am I. Thanks ill take the luck for February rapidly approaching 40 I need to do it before it becomes any more of a strain
My friend Sophie doing a London marathon in April she is feeling anxious and nervous and excited
I sure she will do well .
I'm sure she'll love it, it's definitely an awesome experience! 🏃♀️
Well done great video
Thanks Martin 😊 it was a great day! 🎉
Unlike you...I didn't want this to end! Ha ha...the sights and sounds were amazing!
I was so worried that this wouldn't feel like the London Marathon because it would be affected by covid but it was just incredible! I love the London Marathon 🥰
Those kettle drums were awesome
Weren't they!!! I love them! It give you the biggest boost as the beat just carries you! ❤️
Well done Nicola, you made that look easy! see you soon :)
Thanks 😃 Ahhh you see that was my face but if you'd have asked my legs it would have looked different! 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks njc, never seen it from that angle before. Still don’t want to do it.
This made me laugh loads 🤣 it's okay... It's still a long way and if you'd have interviewed my legs they would have really put you off 🤷🏻♀️😂😂😂
Well done, superb time considering you were filming- did you use a GoPro? Really captured the atmosphere
Thank you 😃 I use a DJI osmo pocket 2. It's really small so easy to run with and I find the image stabilisation better than with a GoPro 👍 but it's not waterproof 😩
Well done Njc njc! 👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you! I absolutely loved it! 🎉🎉🎉
You forgot to give us a Kleenex warning, Nic Nic! Love this video, well done. 💛
Oh no! Sorry Sally! I don't normally get emotional running but on the train on the way there I saw a man running in memory of his wife with her photo on his back and I nearly burst into tears and I knew then that I was having an emotional day and might not hold it together! If I'd have had anyone meeting me at the end I think I might have had a good cry with them! ❤️ A totally emotional experience... I'll put in a Kleenex warning next time 😉
And thank you 🤗😃
Insert superlative here! 💛
Lol... Lazy commenting Norman! 🤣

Brilliant work smashing your target ten years later! Just out of interest is there anything in the race instructions about if a boat needs to go through Tower Bridge? In theory they have priority over all bridge traffic so could be chaos...
Thank you 🤗 I imagine the river is closed for a time in the same way that the roads are closed but that is a TOTAL guess! There's certainly nothing in the race instructions and I'm sure it wouldn't open during the race 🤷🏻♀️
