I think the little weaving lady is amazing! I think it would sell to someone with a boho home, a western styled home, or a home with pieces from around the world. It's a great piece.

Karen, you should have looked up lady weaving. It’s a Navaho woman and it seems to sell for $45 to 55 . May not have sold quickly, but could have been a good pickup. Happy New Year to you and Roger, Love your channel❤🎉

I think the white round mirror gets lost in the wall. Perhaps a larger one out of a natural wicker (like the beaded light) or gold would make a nice statement! When you look at the artwork you love, which color pops out to you? For me, it was the gold/mustard color. I'd look for a large rug with mainly that color or a lighter shade with the same tone (even tone/tone). I think a gold lamp would also look great!

I always like the bed facing the window, so if you are sitting up in bed reading or having coffee, you have a view of the outdoors and not a door or hallway or wall. Just a thought.

Just slip them in a ziplock bag and put them in the freezer, and the wax will shrink and fall off. In the wedding industry, that's what we do with the candle holders to get them cleaned up.

MUST change position of bed !!! Has the appearance of not being in the room! Ie " falling out of the room" never put bed w head or foot facing door. Try it with head of bed under artwork and foot towards windows it with head of bed against wall where vanity is now. Will be much more restful that way

I have read the head at rest should point East, or West if you can't do East. This is because of the polar magnetic pull on our bodies with iron in the blood. I do agree with the bed in the corner should be pulled off the wall and into the room.

    • @Laurie-BHFANDF

I think maybe a straw colored neutral rug with nice texture would be restful in there and compliment the beaded chandelier and golden yellow in pictures.

I love the tapestry artwork pieces. I think you need a rug that matches the intensity of those. It can have a very muted background, but does need at least splashes of those colors. Otherwise the room feels unbalanced as the artwork is very 'weighted' and has nothing to offset it. The pillow helps, but still needs something on the floor to help 'hold' the artwork up.

    • @sharongates6142

One pillow is lonely. Rug should be in the colors of the wall pictures. Lovely start to a beautiful room!

You have so many good responses on your bedroom, I think a yellowish rug pulling from your art work, someone else mentioned a mirror over your vanity totally agree with that. I thought the small mirror was to high up maybe lower, all in all it is your room, what I've seen so far in your home is gorgeous, you have great taste go with what you like.

I rarely comment on any videos but I do watch and give a thumbs up to all of your videos. Your bedroom decoration is looking a bit Scandinavian. I would love to see baskets and wooden accessories added to your room. Even a wood framed mirror over the desk. The light fixture your considering would tie in nicely with the look. You're correct about the rugs...they aren't right with the artwork that you love. Maybe a nice, large, off white textured rug...again sort of scandinavian. I also love the Mongolian lamb pillows on the bed. I believe you're headed in the right direction...you have great taste....

I would get a mustard yellow rug that matches the yellow flower of the artwork. It will add just a little more color to the room without being too busy or overbearing, taking away from the artwork.

I wanted to say the same! Maybe mustard/white/off white stripes. I would also add a bigger mirror with warmer coloured frame, and skip the small mirror with the white frame. Add some wooden items and pottery, and the room is good 👍🏻

Thanks for the video. If I were choosing for the room makeover, I would go with a solid rug in the color of the mustard/gold in the art work. I would also look for a wall mountable lamp instead of the white one - this would save space on the side table. I would hang a mirror (thrifted🙂) over the vanity. The white round one is nice (but if you had guest, they couldn't use it). I would put one of your wooden thrifted bowls on the vanity as a catch all. Use the Pottery Barn light fixture and use a few taller vases on the shelves. You could also go with a sisal rug if you found one. It would give you more flexibility if you wanted to switch out pillows and art work. I would never have offered these suggestions -- but since you asked 😄.

I recommend keeping it all neutral. White on white beige etc. like Nordic fives. Ditch the art work that you have on the wall. Most of all, the bed should be exchanged with the bureau. Bed should not be straight in from the door.

    @craiglist483 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

My 2 cents on the mirror I would go bigger around (top where it is in level with the window-bottom closer to the top of the shelf). One larger rug with at least the bed side legs under it, so for sure longer than the currant one. Also could do a mirror over the vanity and art in place of the mirror? It looks like a peaceful space. Have fun with it!!

  • @jojothriftyteacher

I'd match the tapestry with the burgundy and yellow and perhaps do a circle rug to break up the square/rectangle of the wall art, bed, table, etc.

  • @kaye8231

I just adore you & your videos. Thank you for them! As for your spare bedroom - instead of lime & aqua you’re going with burgundy, gold & navy. (Or is it green? It’s hard to tell what the colors are in the artwork.) Since you’re using darker & more vibrant colors I would tone down the white by adding warmth. This is what comes to my mind: Replace the white floating shelves with wood ones OR remove them and just hang artwork; if you want a mirror on that wall find one with a wood frame; instead of the white side table try a small wooden nightstand and a gold or maybe medium green lamp with a natural colored shade; replace the white bedding with a color coordinated blanket or comforter; one large textured neutral area rug (instead of 2 smaller rugs). Lastly, I’m wondering if your beaded chandelier is too small for the room and a larger pendant light or chandelier would look more in step with the room size.

The bedroom is cute, Karen. Regarding the carpets, I agree, the colours in them are too pink or pastel compared to the rusty orange in the pictures and the pillow. As a suggestion, a sisal carpet, room size, might bring it all together. Happy New Year to you and Roger, and all the best to you in 2025!!

Wow, I am early again! I ❤ it & can’t wait to watch! 😊 25:35 I bought my home in 1999 & it had a hunter green living room & burgundy family room. The home was built in 1990, so I think you are correct in your guess of the 80’s being the appropriate decade for those colors. Of course, I painted all of the walls of the house after I bought it since I am much more of a neutral wall girl:)

The beaded lamp is cute but it’s too small. Likewise the 2 throw rugs are too small. You need one large rug. Side table is too small. Get one about 24” wide with drawers and charging station

Hi Karen, I love how you’re transitioning that bedroom back to function as the bedroom! I get such a kick out of the radiators because I’ve never lived anywhere that far north to have one. But yours has such a cute cover. If it were me I definitely would pull a color out of that artwork you like and I think that a green gives a beautiful earthy, natural, comfortable, relaxing vibe to a room. But I also know that you really like neutrals so if you’re happier with a neutral, maybe something to match the vanity? And you could add in more green just like the little plants that you have in right now. It will just make it feel more spa like!

Hi Karen in my opinion I would carry the gray walls into the guest room and then pick up a rug with gray and other colors to match your art. The walls need to warmed up with a color so it doesn't look so sterile. That's my opinion but then again I love using warm colors in my home I am not a cool color person. That's my two cents, enjoy whatever you and Roger decide to do. Happy New Year!!!

A darker shade of yellow, like the flower in your artwork, would be so pretty for the rug. I’d be tempted to get one with a deeper pile to cozy up to the bed. Put airy pale yellow sheers at the window to soften the blinds. A gold framed round mirror above the table and chair would add depth. Layer a small printed throw or quilt over the end of the bed ( be sure the print is very small but picks up the colors in your artwork. For the wall across from the bed, I would pick up several large, flat baskets/trays in different shapes and sizes as a “collection”. After randomly hanging them on the wall, you could intersperse a few very tiny framed nature prints (perhaps real mounted butterflies or real pressed leaves). A different option for the same wall would be a long, narrow shelf placed up quite high. On the narrow shelf place small natural prints or objects. Attach pegs to the lower part of the same shelf and interchange vintage clothing items that match the other decor. Use decorative wooden hangers for the clothing. Adorable! I love your channel and have learned so much about the value of my personal items. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication. I’ve recently retired after 45 years of teaching first graders and an in the process of redoing my house room by room.

The location of the bed looks awkward in relationship to the door and I suggest trying it on the other walls before committing to where it is now. The lamp on the vanity needs to be smaller and more eye-catching and you can absolutely find one of those while thrifting as well as a nice mirror. You must have several very attractive items in your inventory to use to add personality and pops of color. Being this is your spare room, I would use it as a canvas and play with it and at the same time you can possibly use it as a backdrop for photographing items you are selling. IMO, neither of those rugs work well with those pictures and a nice colored throw on the bed might help tie things together but as I said, you can play with it until you get it exactly the way you want it.

We do not fight over blankets anymore and I get good coverage on the top and sides. I learned this trick years ago, and I will never buy a standard size blanket or comforter for my bed again. If I have a king bed, I’m gonna have to even go larger lol.

I agree the 2 rugs are not complimenting the room. Since you have neutrals, mostly white. I would suggest a textured woven white larger rug for the center of the room. One of you scenery paintings could go on one of the walls. Larger mirror for sure, in neutral white or light brown frame to be positioned over the vanity. Table is good, but looks smaller for the bed.

Hi Karen. I remember hunter green and burgundy from the 80s, and not really in a good way. Am I jaded? Hmmm, not sure.
The little room will come together now that you’re in motion. A large mirror over the vanity would be lovely. I would go with a neutral rug, maybe sisal, and keep the color options open for the bedding. Lots of opportunity for seasonal pops of color if your base is neutral. The pictures are great too!

@@bobbiellison4315 I was thinking same, especially now going into Spring, it will brighten room. Need to bring some warmth to room. I agree baskets, maybe some wood an brass pieces. Also white mirror does get lost. As other person pointed out, rattan mirror or brass ,or a color from artwork, You got this girl!!

My mother was very design savvy. We had hard wood floors in Michigan. She did one large rug leaving a foot to a foot and a half exposed wood around the room. The bedrooms were all on the second and third floors, we didnt have rugs or carpet up there. Well 7 children all under ten carpet was in the living room we were not! LOL. Im really big help! I love antique white Mom like white. She was an acrylic artist with her walls covering her walls. Most people hang their art to high and their curtians to low. A must worth enquiring and Googling. Many shows are painting baseboards and walls same color. Even the quarter rounds same color. My house in Michigan the baseboards are trimmed out a different color the quarter round staind to match wood floors. My trim seems to pull my eyes to the floor and around the room. Its to small a house with all this trim business.
Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas Season and Happy New Year!

You have such a great eye, Karen. I’m glad you’re making your house a home for you and Roger. You can go with all neutrals, white and off white. Or add some warmth with the colors of your art. I do agree with others who said they thought the rug, end table, lamp and mirror are all too small. Go larger scale and it will look more expensive.

Love the artwork on the bedroom wall. Agree about the area rugs. They detract form the artwork. I would go plain with the rug/rugs. The artwork will pop even more that way. Plain with maybe an interesting texture ? My two cents 😊.
Happy New Year to you and Roger.

Hi Karen, I would do a solid color for the rugs, maybe a yellow or red? Then you can go a little more loud on the art? ❤ You and Roger. You both have great energy.

I love, luv, luv the floral artwork above the bed. A gold rug like the gold in the artwork would go beautiful and not overwhelm. I am not a decorator though

Great score on the Peugot pepper grinders. I wasn’t familiar with the brand but picked up a box of 13 of them at a yard sale for $9 . I just really liked that they were wood and seemed to be good quality. I was surprised to find that Peugeot is a great brand😃. The ones I picked up were in varying sizes . They all sold within a week and I got $39 to $105 for them👏🏻👏🏻😃I have heard the metal Peugot shaker sets sell well and for a high profit too. That brand is definitely a BOLO.
    Wishing You and Roger a
    HAPPY NEW YEAR🥳🎉

My taste in furnishings is very different than yours, so take my advice with a grain of salt 😊. I would buy just one very much larger rug. I would flip the bed and the vanity. If you want to keep the room looking very simple, I would do shades of green and white or navy blue and white. Add beautiful artwork and a small round comfy chair with a soft afghan. Plants and a few books. Love your videos!

I don't think the bed would fit where the vanity is. It looks like it would be blocked by the radiator cover.
