    Cheers guys, Sorry about your tender, but Mark Bernier has a good point, You don’t need the tender for that especially at night or tired, just keep feeding (paying out) chain until you are where you want your stern anchor then drive the boat forward while picking up some chain and the other hand paying out some rode wrapped around a winch (don’t cut ya hand out)
    When you’re have pull boat tightish! Tightish apparently isn’t a word, 😂 but what Mark said, (and I don’t know him) he knows what his talking about.. everything will go to chit when you are tired and not thinking straight, oh ps I would let a professional patch it, Some are so good you can’t see the repairs! Anyway thanks guys, now i will watch the next.. 😊

    Maybe I am missing something here but I don't understand why you put out a stern anchor at all. Why not haul in some of your scope, clap a line onto the anchor chain/rode then lead the bitter end of the line back to a winch at the stern. You can haul line or veer chain to adjust your riding angle and reset it any time you like.

    • @LeadingtheEscapade
      @LeadingtheEscapade  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mark, yeah we’d never actually tried that at that time. Someone suggested it the other day to us however and we tried it and it really didn’t work great either
      Both ways just don’t seem to work as well as what they ‘should’ in theory
      We’ve tried a few times too and also tried perfecting but just can’t get it to work, only slightly

    • @markbernier8434

      @@LeadingtheEscapade FWIW, the spring line needs to be a fair way down the anchor chain, 10 meters even 15. It's been done that way for ages there is even a "how to" for midshipsmen in Nelson's navy.

    • @LeadingtheEscapade
      @LeadingtheEscapade  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markbernier8434 yeah tried it exactly like the other day after some advice from another follower. And then when pulling it up to turn the boat I found the anchor chain started to lay across the side of our bow and was going to scratch the sides
      When you do it, do you lay your anchor chain where it needs to be specifically to set up for this rather than Pointing into the wind
      When we tried it the other day we didn’t have a drop of wind really but yeah it really didn’t work properly, it pulled us around a little but still not enough so I was thinking we needed to change where our anchor chain was laying
      I guess the wind isn’t always coming the same way as the swell

    • @trevhedges
      @trevhedges ปีที่แล้ว

      His right, I’m not actually sure what you’re doing wrong, but Mark is correct.. if you like JJays you can contact Ian (our group expert) and ask him has he a video on how to do it.. his just in Greece so not far from you anyway..

      When we put the stern anchor out 😣 Jase took the anchor, chain and rode in the tender and the bucket tipped over when he went to throw out the anchor and the handle on the bucket poked out the sides and was sharp and punctured the tube 😫
      Thanks so much 😌

    Oh shit, I can feel what you're going through especially because the tender is such an important part of the adventure. Respect for the fact that you also share these moments with us. I am curious what you experience and show on Corfu, Paxos and Anti paxos. The islands above Corfu, Stefanos, Gouvia, Petriti, Lakka, Gaios Mongonisssie For me a very familiar area! If you need something foor the boat I know people there to arrange a lot! Thanks!

      Yeah I mean we know it’s kind of only a material thing but at the same time it’s such an important part of the puzzle to liveaboard so thanks for understanding and we’re so glad you enjoy seeing all sides to the story as we like to keep it real and show the good, bad and ugly ☺️
      Oh thanks so much Nico! Our episodes are a little behind in time but we’ll be back up to April in just a few shorts weeks after having time off the boat in Australia for a few months
      We’re actually close to all these places currently again now! So we’ll definitely be in touch if we need anything 🥰

    Patch it up and send it. You should see the bottom of my old mercury RIB….More patches than original floor I think LOL. It sat since Nov, still hard as a rock when I was looking at it on the weekend. It’s all in the prep and using the right products to match your dinghy material. It sucks that it’s new but it’s easily repairable and it will last for many years.

    • @LeadingtheEscapade
      @LeadingtheEscapade  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yeah for sure. Definitely repairable thank god! Think it was just shit cuz it was so soon when it was all shiny and new haha. We’ve since repaired it and done a great job so should hold up nicely ☺️

    Sad news about the tender, when are you back in Greece for 2023 season? We should be are preveza June 1st. Italy looked fun Brindisi was on my list for places to go but now thinking to give it a miss. Take care happy sailing. Don't feel too deflated..... Hopefully it's not too soon for that joke. ☀️⛵☀️🤦

    • @LeadingtheEscapade
      @LeadingtheEscapade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank Drew 😆 hahaha don’t worry a bit of time has passed now so we’re over it, love the joke 🤣🤣
      We just left Preveza a few days ago in real time! We came back end of March and spent a few weeks in the yard and just left to start travelling again
      We’ll be showing that content in a couple of weeks and will be way closer to real time as we had 3.5 months away from the boat (went back to Australia)
      Happy sailing and fair winds to you ☺️ yeah there are some nice places along the east coast though! So definitely go if you can, just maybe not brindisi, unless it’s just on your way
      There just isn’t really anywhere along the whole coastline suitable to anchor, it’s either too rough or if it’s calm then it’s rolley everywhere

      @@LeadingtheEscapade preveza was our spiritual boat home as it was where we brought our from. Then got delayed there for 6 weeks so to Greek paper work. How did you find it as a place to do boat work we are planning a haul out to do bottom paint in Montenegro to be out of shengen. Looking forward to what your take on preveza is. Hope you did e scooters and ice cream. Happy sailing

    • @LeadingtheEscapade
      @LeadingtheEscapade  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh awesome! It’s also where we bought our boat so we’ve spent time there twice now. It’s really great for boat work. There’s 3 chandleries between the 3 yards and then obviously there’s more in town. We didn’t do any major works with other companies, just mostly did it all ourselves except a couple of things. Had some gel coat repair done and name decals/stripes but back on
      We actually didn’t use the scooters a whole lot this time as we were able to hire a car for €5 a day!! Because it was out of season. So cheap!!

  • @MichaelBuck
    @MichaelBuck ปีที่แล้ว

    6 months behind, WOW! I think you al;l have the freaking record for the time between real time and TH-cam time, LOL. I'm heading to Summer and you all havent even hit winter yet, hahahahahaha! Apparently this is not a money making channel but posts are just for laughs and a historical record. Good joib with teh production. Hopefully one day you will be all caught up and closer to real time and the next adventure. I wouldn't be surprised if you sold the boat and made several trips around the world and then bought a van, lol.

    • @LeadingtheEscapade
      @LeadingtheEscapade  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha ha, don’t worry, we only sailed until December, and then we had time off in Australia between December and April so in about two weeks time will be back up to February March sometime in content. But I’ve heard some of the larger channels like SV Delos are sometimes one year or two years behind!! 🫣
      We don’t deliberately get behind, it just happens naturally during summer because there’s so much exciting stuff happening and we can’t fit a whole weeks worth of content in one episode
      The people who are up to date in content are barely filming or editing our large gaps of their time. We’re trying really hard to get closer to real time though so hopefully our episodes will get more exciting! Look out for the next one as it’s a bit more fast paced, see what you think 😆
