More than any other aspect of TTRPG Narrative "Downtime" relies upon the players, I have for about thirty years created space for narrative growth time. One was when an Abbess character who also has a small-hold in her name, having a meal with her husband just catching up with each other after a season she spent away at the Abbey. Another was when traveling having an NPC starting a story round with each player in turn adding the next part of the story in turn then passing it on to the next. These have nothing to do with the "Adventure" but everything to do with the characters and world.

Campfire scenes... makes me want to play my kill-less dwarf sorcerer again.
