  • Watch me do a 5:54.7 2k rowing machine test while viewing my heart rate data, my splits and hearing thoughts that were going through my head during the 2k itself. Enjoy!
    Today was another opportunity to test out some 2k strategies. Narrowing in now and good to see what changes can still be made! Great to get another 2k row on the rowing machine under the belt. Sometimes the 2k can be a mental barrier and can build up extra tension just through mentioning the workout! Doing them multiple times, if recovery is good enough, can help get over this!

    DRAG FACTOR/RESISTANCE used on this workout.
    I set the drag factor to 125. Around a 3-4 on this machine. Resistance does NOT equal faster or slower speeds. I've made a few videos discussing drag factor which I recommended checking out. Here is one: th-cam.com/video/_ZbxsslM6NQ/w-d-xo.html
    If you have any other questions let me know!

    • @stevenc6492

      Thanks for the info. I've achieved 7:55 for a 2K on drag factor 10. I weighed 75KG at the time. In your opinion is this a good effort? Thanks.

    • @CameronBuchan
      @CameronBuchan  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@stevenc6492 like I've said in the video linked in the comment. The drag factor won't really make you slower or faster.
      If you went hard and felt tired that's a good score 👍 hard question to ask specifically not knowing anything else!

    Really curious what sort of training you do or have done inorder to improve your Cardiovascular endurance. I'm a highschool rower and I excel at steady state pieces but I really struggle with high rate pieces(really anything over a thirty). Its what I fell I need to work on most especially with the spring season coming up and I was curious if you had any tips.

    Machine! In screen erg data + HR Speedo (cool) + commentary / tips + the whole piece end to end + awesome picture quality + fiddlin' with monitor & headhones - vomiting = ♠️ A single vlog with your pal Adam Neill in it has over 576k views on a channel with only 211 subscribers, with the title "Adam Neill 2Km ERG 5:48" maybe a similar title tweak, for you, could boost views and subs, for what is a far superior vlog? 🤞

      I liked this one for sure! I know the video, once we get to those speeds I think we can do that. I would have though last week's 2k would be good too but unfortunately didn't push as far as I thought. Guess I need sub 550! What do you think?

      @@CameronBuchan you might be right Cam, no harm in trying SEO title tweaks using anothers successful title template as a guide and then reviewing it? Suggest... "Cameron Buchan" or "Yam squad" and "ERG" are both missing, "2Km" is typed as 2k in the earlier 5:56 vid title. It might also be differences in the chosen fields in the TH-cam uploader or web traffic pouring in to a TH-cam link. Marginal gains 🤞 Today's vid similar... Came here because I am starting to fall in love with this thing. Did just under 2400m in 10min. today, but in my defence it was after a full fitness workout, including abs, shoulders, breast and a 25 min. bike run at 210W average. Didn't know what to do, so I just went for the 10min. option. I am a beginner so I kinda tried to stay between 20 and 25spm, but the fool I am, I had to push a little. It wasn't that bad in the end, but I will be pushing some more after seeing this I guess...

    Could you tell why towards the end (

    • @CameronBuchan
      @CameronBuchan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Fred! I know what you mean. Running fan be something else!
      Yes you're right, a lot of arms going on at the end. Not the most efficient technique but as you could see, faster splits! So more just throwing the rate up and applying as much power as I can for a short period of time. Couldn't do it for the whole piece!
      To the line means to keep going all the way to the finish. Sometimes you can stop half a stroke early and end up losing valuable tenths!
      I hope you enjoy your rowing rowing journey!

    I'm fairly new to erging so forgive me for the stupid questions, but i just have two questions on your technique here Cam:
    1) Don't you lose a bit of energy when you already push with your legs before they are at 90° during the recovery? Like it seems that your legs should be going a bit further no?
    2) Do you have back issues? Because your back looked quite arched in this video, whereas I thought it should be straight and you should focus on getting your bum behind your back basically?
    Again, I know nothing about erging compared to you, but i would love it if you could answer my questions since i am in my first year of erging and am trying to improve my technique every week.
