- #davidsanborn was a music icon, a #saxophone pioneer, an innovator and an amazing person. I was fortunate to work with him when I founded the original DavidSanborn.com web site, a project I supported for several years. Dave was a kind soul, I got to see him perform live and met with him afterward several times. The world is a lesser place without him, in this short video I explain how we managed to cross paths.

Thanks for sharing. I can recognize David sound anywhere in this world. I first heard him on a Fania All Star album 1977 and I shared that with him. He had forgotten that gig. The rest is history. I love David, may he Rest in Peace.
“It’s a lesser world with Dave not around”. Amen
Terrific stuff, Paul, thanks for sharing. indeed, very sad, and yes these two were especially significant and influential, and yes absolutely Night Music... goodness what treasures they left behind. Carry on, brother.
Hi Pauli, I was thinking of you when I heard that David Sanborn had passed away. You remind me so much of a saxophone player I worked with in my college years who was very much into David Sanborn, Phil Woods, Charlie Parker, etc. It feels like some of our musical heroes are passing away, so many people that inspired me over the years. So, its ever more important for all of us to keep playing real music that comes from the heart. Keep doing what you do Pauli! I'm trying to do the same here in my world as well. In fact, I'm sitting here with guitar and a metronome working on my phrasing and trying to get diminished scale sounds into my lines :-) its a life-long pursuit to keep working on this stuff.
Yes, music is a lifelong pursuit! It's the journey that matters.
