What are they eating?
McNulty wasn't complimenting him. Soldiers (pawns) are expendable and they die so that the more powerful can gain. The irony is that Bodie took it as a positive. He is starting to realise he is being sold the big lie that he can one day get the benefits from the game if he just "does the right things", but he still doesn't quite understand. He is fooling himself and can't quite bring himself to believe it is all for nothing, and that no matter what he does, those at the top will always want him to stay a pawn (soldier).
McNulty was complimenting Bodie to win his trust. It would have worked had Monk not been watching and reported back to Marlo.
Got That Man smoked!!! SMH
This might sound odd I know, but this kinda parallels to Jesse Pinkman & Hank Schrader coming to terms.
Jesse was a snitch and Bodie agreed to snitch . I see why you make the comparison
