The way you detect the smallest harsh frequencies that most people would not notice is really a FLEX!😁 It also really helps me as an Engineer to look at everything in more detail. Like don't get me wrong I am very detailed but the way your detail is really humbles me lol. Amazing video Devvon, thank you so much!!👌👌

I know I shared this with you last night, but you have no idea how much this helped my mix today. I’m working with a vocalist who can be harsh, especially in that 6 to 10 K range. I put this on her vox track actually as the last plug-in and it sounds beautiful. I can add all the volume I want and her voice is no longer shrill.

No one does adds value or teaches in such an honest and engaging way like you do. I hope you’re making your coin for how much you’re enabling smaller/independent artists. The best to do it imo- and there’s a LOT of audio engineer teacher on the tube. You dug me out of such a big hole when I felt too overwhelmed by the learning curve, now my mixes sound awesome.

Ozone is seriously a huge help for me. I am primarily a guitar player, not a producer, so having it helps me get a much better mix and master than I would with stock plugins as a noob. This is a great tutorial and I'd love to see more on Ozone.

When compared to something like multi-band compressing that range that you might do to control harshness, this technique wins. You get the compression effect from the saturation and it doesn't make said range seem sucked out like MB would. You just need to not push it so hard that it starts to get 'fizzy'. Thanks Devvon!

Subtractive eq for muddy vocals cut around 300-500hz and cut around 800hz then harshness lies in3k-5k

It’s interesting how audio engineers handle this resonance area differently. For example, I use shaper box the filter area and on the low pass. I find where that resonance area is which on the vocal is bringing it right around 900 kHz and then mess with the mix knob for the vocals usually around 68% And now I’ve not only created Deb in the mix, but I also soften up that area. Are usually throw this on the vocal group or the lead by itself and every group I find where the residence is and do the same thing and so each section has their own place in the speakers, but I love the way that you did this as well

Thanks. It's why I always pass my vocals thru my small yamaha or mackie analog mixers. It gets rid of harsh frequencies before it is even digitalized. I sometimes send out the other tracks thru the mixer and back into the DAW. I also send the final mix thru the analog mixers and sumn as much as I can. Warmness.

Hey man, could u do a Clip about how to get the vocals super in your face / thick in the bottom without being muddy? Im realy trying and comparing to my references im getting close but there is always smth missing. Tried every sort of compression / multi Band and so on. But compared to my reference it sounds their vocals are thick / in your face without being to loud. Idk if its a mastering or mixing thing. Or do you do specific workshops? Like in depth with the Customer?
