GMC/Chevy Trucks & SUV's Inner & Outer Tie Rod Replacement How-To

This video will show you how to replace the inner and outer tie-rods on the GMC/Chevy trucks and SUV's. This was done on a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 but will be the same procedure for the 1500 and 3500 trucks and SUV's including the suburban, yukon, tahoe, avalanche, and escalade. Parts used in this video were purchased from Amazon and I will provide links below.

Since the new parts can be a different dimension, I kept the inner and outer assemblies in tact while removing them. Assembling the new parts, I measured inner mating surface to outer center pivot and copied to new parts. Didn't need any alignment at all. Good vid overall!

hey I'm going to have to say thank you! I tried to get away from working on cars because I'm disabled but have relocated and my money is not the same. you would be surprised at the simple little things that you don't remember once you are removed from doing anything on a regular basis. PS and I am not a mechanic, just mechanically inclined

Which way does the passenger inner tie rod turn to loosen it up. Great video👍

It will be normal threads so turn to the left/counter clockwise.

How the Moog parts treating you? I was thinking of going the AC Delco Professional route.

So far so good never really had any issues with moog I’ve used ac delco professional as well and are pretty comparable to moog.
