    Thank you Oscar! I just replaced my lower ball joints on both sides and I've ordered the inner tie rods for both sides too. My driver side has play in it and after checking it looks like it's the inner tie rod that's bad. You did a great job on this video!!! Thank you again for posting it!!!

    If you are replacing both inner and outer. Its better to remove them in one piece. That way you can measure the same distance when you install the new ones in one piece too. Thats my opinion.

      True if you had enough clearance for a wrench to fit on the inner tie rod socket

      That’s how I do it at work I’m a mechanic. I’m usually watching these because I’m doing the job at someone’s house and need to know what tools to bring

      @@kalani1987I recommend taking a cheap adjustable wrench to a grinder and make the head of it really thin. I don’t have the long tie rod tool I’ve done it that way for 15 years. Granted if you do this job all the time get the socket I really never find myself needing them though

    That black bellow you put on over the ibj the end of the bellow "small side" goes on that groove on the ibj then you put the clip on. Also premeasure from the end of the bellow were the clip is to the bolt to get ok alignment when you finish. Great job!

      My truck is not that bad like yours it’s only vibrating on 65 mile speed
      I checked the front wheels they have very very little loose that i barely feel it
      Do I still have to replace the inner rod

    Wow I like how easy your tie rod end comes off.. I have not been able to get mine off I have soaked in PB blaster use the map gas torch use a oxygen torch smacked it with a hammer tighten down the best vice grips I could buy and tried to hold the inner tie rod in place as I took a big 18 inch monkey wrench and tried to twist off no luck...

      Try using a tie rod puller, tigh it down and hit it with a hammer and tight it more and hit it with a hammer in between brakes spray some pb blaster. Hope this helps

      I know its been a year but my truck was a canadian truck before it was mine. Rust like crazy. The way i got my end off was i held the jam nut with a 24mm (15/16”) wrench and put a 22mm wrench on the outer tie rod end itself. Soaked the dogshit out of it with pb blaster, and it came off. Granted, my jam nut was rust welded to the inner tie rod end but alternatively you could hold the inner tie rod with a 16mm wrench and do the same. I hope you got it off. Mine was a bitch.

      When did he use a wrench? I’m confused because to me it seemed like the video just cut and all of the sudden he had it torqued. So frustrating because I clicked on the video to see how he torqued it properly. These guys are no help sometimes.

      @@klg1001 no one really torques it to specs, they just get it tight and the blue loctite keeps it secured as well.
      The tool to torque it to factory specs is an adjustable toque wrench.

    Inner tie rod end can be taken off with a 15” Adjustable Wrench as well. Just did mine with one.

      I would not suggest using the old boot if it's damage. Water, road dust will end up getting in those small wholes and that can ruin your new tie rods.

    I just keep the whole tie rod as one unit.. this way you can match the length to new tie rod assembly..turn wheel all the way left so you have better access to remove without taking outer tie rod off the shaft..if you have a hole inside the inner tie rod threads you can fill up the inside threads to pre grease the inner by screwing it back on the shaft..then unscrew & clean the threads add locktite on final install

    Did you get an alignment after or was it pretty good ? Thx for this video I ordered my inners and outers for my 2010 gmc and I'm attempting this in a couple days amazon had good prices on them, I just changed my leaf springs on my truck both sides and that took 11hrs had to drop gas tank on drivers side so I think I can handle this.

      Yes, I had to get an alignment to get it to perfect steering. Anytime you work on any suspension an alignment is a must.let me know how your inner and outer rod diy goes. Thanks for the comment .

      Oscar Ruiz-Autorepair just did them in the garage it turned out perfect went as smooth as the video you uploaded, the only thing is there was excess oil in the dust boot I don't know why it would leak into them. Thx again for the video it helped me save so much money and you did easy instructions thx brother

    So the reason why my truck could not be correctly aligned was because the tie rods are bad. If I were to install myself, could I drive the truck to the alignment shop without putting grease?

    Its hard to compare to my truck but I hear a small click. I think I have bad shocks and maybe a bad tire as wheel. My steering wheel shakes really bad and wheen I inspected tire it seems to not be 100% round. As i spin tire it goes up and down about 3/8 of an inch.

      Check your tire for round.. It could have a tire with cords starting to go.can also check wheel bearing for play..will cause vibration.

    when you removed old tie rod did you count the threads. im sorry if i missed the count. when you installed new tie rod I counted 23 turns am i right?

      Yes, I counted the threads to at least get it close to the alignment but still need to take it to get an alignment

    Zip tie! I would use a worm Clamp...you also could of taken the whole inner tie rod out, while the outer stays Connected. This will allow you to measure the new Tie rod..

      I used the inner tie rod tool (the red and black long tool) with a (1/2) 32mm socket and a torque wrench. The tool is seen at 12:54 in the video but i was not able to show how i torque the inner tie rod due to my camera ran out of battery.

      Your welcome. I agree, its simple..easy..and fixable. Do not be intimated to work on your 2008 Silverado, once you start to work on your own car/truck you will start to get a feel for fixing it yourself plus you will save 100's of dollars doing it yourself. Just for this 2007 Chevy silverado the dealership wanted 450.00 to change out only the inner tie rods!!

      The inner tie rod comes pre grease but you can add more grease if you like.

    13/16 got stick because it's really a 21 mm. Use the right tool for the right job.

    Nut stuck in the socket, put it back in the bolt 1 turn then pull the socket off 😉

    Counting the turns will get you close. You really should measure the length to the center of the rod end.

      No need to wonder, I can tell you why if you just ask me. My camera ran out of power and the customer was in a rush to pick up his kids from school so while I recharged the camera to continue to record this video I just so happen to have the camera charging while I torque the inner tie rods. I do deeply apologize for not showing that step. I do attempt to show each step by I was press for time due to my customer bwing in a hurry. I hope you can understand.     Where's your small packs of grease before putting boot on to grease joint.. There is no grease fittings so you have to put grease in by hand...

    Turn counting is a joke. Pull out in 1 piece and measure new and old parts together. Then go get it aligned no matter how close it feels.
