    Here's my universally-accepted list, devoid of any controversy, in no particular order:
    1) Underwater exploration
    2) Proper fishing, with poles and bait
    3) A wider variety of enemies
    4) More caves
    5) Some way to repair equipment, even if it is a huge PITA, and perhaps not really worth the cost
    6) A quest-line like Tarrytown or buying (back) your house, but with more customization options
    7) A wider variety of shrine/dungeon environments, even if their just pallet swaps of each other

    • @bruh1704
      @bruh1704 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      They won’t do repair systems or rather they shouldn’t. Botw integrated the durability system because they wanted to make it feel like link was scavenging from the environment. They knew that while it’s annoying to know you’ll lose your weapon from using it, it gives far more replayability, fun and interest because players try weapons that would be unconventional. This is further emphasised by the open world aspect which we can use elden ring as a case study. I think elden ring is a goated game but you will never use weapons of the same type which are inherently lower statted than another. At the start of the game you are free to fight anyone and as a result obtain almost any weapon. If you obtain a guardian ++ sword that does 75 and then provide a grindy and intentionally unfun method of repair, you are incentivising players like you who are overly attached and will spend hours not playing the game just so you don’t lose your end game weapon. No one would use boomer rangs or spears because they are just not as good as swords or bows.

    • @TheZetaKai
      @TheZetaKai ปีที่แล้ว +24

      @@bruh1704 Thanks, bruh, but I don't need to hear why they did it. I know why they did it, they know why they did it, and everybody who cares has been hearing about why they did it for the last 5 years. I'm just saying that I want them to not do it again. They did it once, and that's cool, but I don't want them to do it anymore. It was an interesting experiment, in a game full of interesting experiments, and now they should learn from what worked and what didn't and make a better game.

    • @JMFSpike
      @JMFSpike ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I really want fishing

    • @JMFSpike
      @JMFSpike ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@dugoo3405 Honestly, I'm surprised that fishing in Zelda is so inconsistent. It has been a very popular thing ever since Ocarina of Time, but for some reason they haven't made it a staple in the series. They expanded the fishing concept in Twilight Princess quite a bit. If it was included in BotW 2, I imagine it would be at least 5X more expanded then it was in Twilight Princess.
      By the way, I think that a Zelda fishing game spinoff could be pretty cool. Think of it as something like what they did with Link's Crossbow Training, only it would obviously be fishing.

    I'd definitely like to see more enemy variety in BoTW. And while I don't have any problem with the shrines, I do hope that the developers give us more dungeons in the new game that are actually tied to the story. As much as I liked the divine beasts, they were pretty short.

Like how you won’t have to go in the desired order or even completely explore it if a certain player doesn’t want to. Wanna go to the fire area before the forest? Cool. Kinda thing ya know? I’m sure they could work with a similar idea to make it fit for the new story and how BoTW has set up its world and gameplay. but yah that similar to how I try to convey wanting “temples/dungeons”. Some players say ew no temples are too long or linear and I’m like not if they are done differently. A link between worlds played with the idea of dungeon hoping and even going places out of order. They can do that style while still maintaining the aesthetic and environment temples have given Zelda in the past.

    If there's more underground areas, I imagine lighting well be a more fleshed out mechanic. Link should have the option to equip a torch in the shield slot instead of as a weapon, as well as add lanterns as an off-hand option. Caves could also be naturally lit by luminous stone deposits, meaning you can still collect them, but leave a few so you can still have some visibility.

    I know the title screen in BotW was different, but I actually really enjoyed it. When you play the game for the first time, the silence really catches you off guard, and makes you feel the weight of just how special the game is, at least that's how I felt anyway. Likewise, the artwork is obviously beautiful, and is great to actually see in game, instead of just on a poster or something. I really love and enjoy video game art though, so I'm biased on that end haha

      I agree that the silent and subdued nature of the title screen fits the desolate, apocalyptic state of Hyrule. The music in-game reflects this as well. Sparse and subdued bar some exceptions.
      Thematically it makes sense, absolutely.
      But I can see why Zeltik, and someone else, might want to see a more classic approach to BOTW2's title screen. Artistically it's more... pleasing.

    For the sequel to breath of the Wild, I personally would love to see more of the elemental dragons. I think with the fact that in Breath of the Wild the Spring of Wisdom Shrine Quest where you have to save Naydra the Ice dragon from being corrupted by malice, this shows us that Ganon had shown an interest in the dragons and wanted to use them for evil!!! Also the fact that the trailer is showing what looks like Zonai ruins, Link’s outfit being as it is, the fact he uses a shield with a dragon head that has fire breath, as well as the fact that the shot of Hyrule castle levitating via malice has the same exact music playing as when one of the dragons showed up in BOTW or at the very least the same instrument being used……anyways this makes me think that dragons are gonna play a HUGE role in the sequel and I hope I’m right because I think that’s the best way to really take advantage of all the open air exploration/combat. Imagine Link and Zelda each riding one of the elemental dragons on their way to storm Hyrule Castle and take it back from Ganon!!!! Either way I’m so excited!!!! @@elizabethsullivan7176 I couldn’t agree more! I was thinking maybe they can implement some sort of musical instrument we can use to communicate with the Elemental Dragons…..perhaps an ocarina🤔 haha. I just finished 2018 God of War and they have to use a specific horn to call “The World Serpent” and only a select few can speak it’s language. But anyways ya know how it’s said in game that you have to be pure of heart to even see the dragons? They can say that the reason we couldn’t ride the dragons in the original is because we didn’t first ask permission or show them respect and talk to them in their language….maybe that’s why Link is wearing his new Green Zonai looking outfit? I am 99.99999% certain that Elden Ring had nothing to do with BotW2 being delayed. Looking at the timing of when the delay was announced, Nintendo probably had made the decision to delay (internally) before Elden had even released.
      Even if they hadn't made that decision already, there still is virtually no way they delayed because of Elden Ring. Nintendo doesn't operate that way, and for that matter no sensible company would make such a hasty decision to delay a game they'd been working on for 5 years and were nearing completion on simply because of a well-reviewed game that had only been out for a month, no matter how good that well-reviewed game was. Furthermore, I'm guessing nobody on the Zelda team had even PLAYED Elden Ring yet at that point. They were hard at work, you know, developing BotW2.

      On the topic of Link getting dialog though, I agree about it being just one significant line, but I have a different idea for it's context. See, probably my favorite moment from AoC comes right after Terrako self-destructs, when Zelda turns to face Ganon and says "It's time... to end this!"
      The sheer level of anger and malice(no pun intended) in her voice communicates that she's not just determined, or angered, she's downright _pissed,_ and that she's going to stop at nothing until Ganon no longer exists.
      I hope that in BotW2, we get a moment like that for Link, where he just lets out all the pent up emotion from both a century ago and the modern day into one or 2 sentences that gets the player hyped up and thinking "now you f***ed up!"

    Something I would extremely love in the sequel would be thematic music! Botw didn’t have a lot of music. Most of it was a single piano. The piano felt like it was for dramatic somber scenes, and I don’t think pianos can really convey epic battles without other instruments. In the sequel, an overworld theme, dungeon themes, and orchestral music following other themes (maybe even callbacks to previous games) would make the adventure a pleasure to listen to while we explore and play.

      I have to say, BOTW combat music (admittedly it's only 3 variations of 1 song and another for the guardians), is phenomenal, and orchestral! Even the guardian theme fits well, a repeating piano riff that feels like whatever it is you're fighting is out of place in the world. Perfect for guardians.
      Also I think they originally wanted big fanfare overworld music but decided against it due to it being too repetitive, and not really fitting with what the play testers were doing or how they felt.

    5 moderate to very small things that I would love to see in botw’s sequel are
    1. Underwater exploration. Expand upon the Zora tribe and underwater locations with their story and lore!
    2. Give Zelda proper character development and relational development with Link. AOC was so far off from the original botw that all of Zelda’s “development” there would not be found in the sequel. Her relationship with Link also felt like it hit a road block in the true botw ending where they had such a generic esc reunion after 100 years apart.
    2. Bring back the fishing rod. Maybe have a mini game for it again for good ol times.
    3. Bring back Link’s low health idle animation. It looks weird to see him blinking red and standing upright at 1 heart. Age of Calamity fixed this!

  • @theoaremevano3227
    @theoaremevano3227 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I do love wishlists for sequels I hope can outdo their predecessors. :D For my part, I'd like:
    1: Give Link a slight tune-up in his physical movement and control- The way Link feels in Breath of the Wild somehow felt like it never got comfortable for me, and I feel like it has to do with how certain actions feel like you have superpowers while others feel like they were designed to feel like Shadow of the Colossus, with Link having strict physical limitations to work around. The stark difference felt odd and caused me to overestimate what Link could do in a lot of smaller, annoying ways.
    I'd like to see his jumping improved a bit, give him a way to swim properly, especially if he has Zora gear on him, give his attacks some movement and let him take hits better, falling down less, getting up quicker from light knockdown and being able to stop his rolling. Anything in this category that feels like it needs balancing could be tied to stamina, which I felt was greatly underused in the first game.
    2: Enemy Variations- In addition to those classic enemies I want to see in the roster, I really think they could improve on the Lizalfos, Moblins and Bokoblins by changing the upgraded versions to have their own abilities and quirks. Rather than have the higher ranked ones behave like the same bumbling half-wits their base forms are, I'd love to see what a highly competent version of the enemy could do, or see specialized variations of them, like armored, assassins, shamans that carry magic staves and so on. Breath of the Wild does mention competent Lizalfos Generals being in Ganon's army once upon a time. :)
    3: More environmental damage + scaling- A problem with the first game is that while weapons continued to scale up and get more powerful along with the enemies further into the game, a lot of other cool-as-hell options you could play with didn't have any way to scale, resulting in things like boxes being overpowered as hell early on and useless as hell in late game. Whatever it takes, I hope they can find a way to make bashing enemies with creative items consistently useful throughout the game. Apart from raw damage, maybe things like having a finishing blow again could help because knocking an enemy down could be capitalized on, for example.
    4: Less emphasis or more options for Flurry and Parry- These got old after a while and really the only reason was because there was only one way the move would play out, especially for the flurry rush: you do it, you wack the enemey X amount of times and that's the only option. I'd love to be able to execute other moves during one of these animations, or be able to use other tools at my disposal. I also think there needs to be more emphasis on using shields as... actual shields and not having them shatter like glass unless you use the parry.
    Also, I think having Link take 100% damage on a failed parry puts at a huge disadvantage to the flurry rush which generally includes no such risk. On top of that, the reward seems to be far LESS? It barely creates an opening on a lot of things, yet is far more risky. Giving the player reasons to choose to parry while also removing the heavy discouragement would help a lot. Only thing that's overpowered about the parry is beam reflection. Best not to have that outclass every other way of fighting enemies with that capability due to its 100% free cost for success. It's not like the risk matters when you can just save.
    5: A new way to learn very specific mechanics- I do think it's great to let people learn on their own, but I'd rather not leave the player learning and having fun with the game entirely up to chance. With some things, it's just too easy to get the wrong idea, and Breath of the Wild has tons of details to its mechanics that could greatly boost a player's enjoyment to find. While letting players potentially find out on their own, having a collectible of something like journal pages or something detailing the game's many quirks. This, or something like it, would act as a secondary source to to ensure players could seek out knowledge in-game if they feel they might be missing something. It's much like how you can learn combat mechanics in an action or fighting game when you have a proper move list to look at and test for yourself.

    • @moistman3110
      @moistman3110 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CarbonKnight9 most of the games you're referring to are very old. It's not fair to compare games like Majora's or OoT with BotW because they set the standard, and were quite literally the greatest ever when they came out. Combat (like everything else) should evolve with each entry, not stagnate. It didn't just stagnate in BotW either, as even some older Zeldas were better, like Wind Waker and especially Twilight Princess. Skyward Sword is more debatable, and I can even see arguments for Wind Waker, but if you think it's better than TP, I really recommend you go play/revisit that game. The sheer amount of moves and ways to approach enemies compared to the rest of the series is baffling. BotW has parries, (which are largely not very rewarding for the trouble outside of guardians), and it has flurry rushes: that's about it. No combos, no downed attacks, no block breaks, not even a way to deal bonus damage outside of freezing an enemy first. Gadgets exist, but they aren't an organic part of combat and add virtually nothing combat wise, instead they're more of a contained thing you do that makes the fight easier, such as using stasis. Flurry rushes are satisfying, but that's really all there is. Otherwise, it's just button mashing into the same boring attack animation repeatedly. There are charge attacks, but they aren't very good outside of greatsword which essentially just increases the speed at which you can output hits. Spear's charge is hardly ever worth the charge time, and Sword's spin slash is just straight bad (though it can be used to knock bokoblins off cliffs). An easy change to this problem as well as the problem of the repetitive attacks all being the same, is to simply give certain attacks higher or lower damage. Set the final hit in basic attacks to do 1.5× damage instead of 1×. Set charged spin slashes to do 1.5-2. Jump attacks coukd get similar treatment too. One of BotW's problems is that those few systems and extra attacks they have aren't encouraged, as they're worse than just mashing Y. This isn't some crazy idea either, as previous Zeldas have done this, and action games like Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, GoW, and DMC have been doing this for years, as it's a very basic and low effort way of making combat more dynamic. I don't think I minded it the first three or four playthroughs, as the rest of the game is so solid, but you sink enough hundreds/thousands of hours into the game, and its blatantly dumbed down combat becomes a lot more tiresome and obvious. The foundation of it is fine, as it moves and feels exactly as combat should, but it lacks any real spice. BotW takes nearly everything in it from previous Zeldas, and there's nothing wrong with that because it takes the pieces and builds something new. I just don't understand why they didn't do that with the combat like . . . at all. There's no more attacking while moving, no Iai type attacks, no special attacks for downed enemies, no combos, no special ways to get around defense like Skyward Sword enemies blocking a certain direction and you having to attack in the correct direction to beat them, or like TP's super satisfying back slice, and they didn't even have the courtesy to bring back the stab attacks that exist in every other 3-D Zelda game. There are reasons why they didn't do some of these, but they're all reasons that could be easily remedied. I don't expect all of these either, but even one or two would really help to give more variety to combat in BotW. For a game that encourages freedom so heavily, it really doesn't give you much in combat (unless you're one of those wizards that makes those crazy combat setup videos, where they'll set up a chain reaction of like 10 different items and actions, and it all comes together to kill).
      Hope none of this came off as rude, as it's not intended to be, but I feel excusing the laziness of the combat is really not OK, and instead it should be kindly pointed out so it maybe improves. Coddling a game/series you like from criticism doesn't make it better, it makes it worse, as many devs won't identify the problems unless pointed out, and as such it will stay piss poor.
      P.S. to the guy above a ways, as well as anyone who thinks this: you CAN improve combat without making it more difficult to play/less accessible. TP had a lot of depth for a Zelda, and that game is very easy to play and understand. Plus, in general you shouldn't design things to appease bad/casual players. Instead, you make the game FUN first and foremost, and if you did well enough, people will take it upon themselves to learn, simply because they enjoy it. Sorry about the length though.

    i want ganondorf to be a real character… not just some big bad you need to defeat. the shred of backstory/motivation we got in wind waker is SO interesting, i really hope they delve into his character and explore why he did what he did. making at his motivations at least somewhat sympathetic/understandable it could be a great way to expose the darker side of hyrule, which is another thing i’d love to be explored.

    My wishlist would be:
    •More traditional large dungeons(or at least more varieties, divine beasts and shrines all felt mostly the same and got a bit old)
    •More items, like the hookshot and such
    •Magic(this is really something that's faded away from the series over time)
    •More enemy variety
    •Caves and other underground areas to explore
    •Underwater areas

    I hope the main questlines are a lot longer and a bit more structured, they were easily the weakest part of the original game. Also please have Astor show up!

    • @darknesswave100
      @darknesswave100 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Also to add to your point, there should be questlines or side quests in general that expand your understanding of the world itself, other characters and that have big payoffs if you completed them. So many of the quests in the first game are just either fetch quests and the like that barely give you anything for completing them

      I doubt Astor will be in it, age of calamity isn't canon since it's a hyrule warriors game and not a legend of Zelda game, it could happen but I wouldn't get my hopes up for it

    I want a dynamic title screen. Basically there are preloaded scenes depending on where you are at in the game or where link is by location. Beginning of game, link and Zelda are riding horses together and when you press start it starts right there like god of war. When the calamity strikes again, we’ll see link looking for materials or cooking on his own. If he’s in the sky, we could either get a view looking up at link as he falls skyward sword style through the sky, or he could be walking around the ruins of the sky islands. Basically, depending on where you are it determines the screen that plays. Which makes me really hope we get to revisit the same locations as they change, and the title are will change with it

    I'd like to see weapon durability disappear altogether in favor of weapon rarity, wider variety and reduced slots.
    Something like 2 bow and shield slots and 4 weapon slots. Maybe added flourishes akin to twilight princess.

      They could add a chest that you have the option to warp out of nowhere and change up your equipment on the fly. It’d be nice and while you can’t bring a lot with you, it’d be nice not have weapons break. Master Mode playthrough broke me.

    I really hope there is a Gerudo style pirate dungeon kind of thing were instead of you getting an item you learn how to duel wield swords. Or just have a dual wielding mechanic, can you imagine using one of the fire swords and the ice swords in tandem, fire and ice combat has always been super fun in the Zelda games so I think it would work.

    Definitely want to see some more of the traditional dungeons, where there is a lot of environmental character, and even dungeon items. (I know that may be controversial, but I really like dungeon items.) Also would love to see a more fleshed out score. I know it’s intentionally minimalist in BoTW, but if Hyrule Castle was any indication, BoTW 2 with a complete symphonic score would be amazing

    8:21 That is very Xenoblade-like, specifically Xenoblade2. That would be awesome, and it’s honestly a little odd that it wasn’t in the original, what with Monolithsoft helping out with its development and all.

      @@NuiYabuko Yeah, they did. I’m not saying that the usual Zelda team didn’t help at all, that would be nothing short of foolish. I was just saying that the fact that a company known for their masterful title screens being involved in a game with a relatively bland one is odd.

    Seeing the different falling mechanics, made me really want a sort of wing suit for link. Maybe you obtain this wing suit by modifying the paraglider into a wearable outfit. I think it would be really cool if they introduced a type of jetpack, so you you could boost yourself through the skies.

    Maybe I'm a little bit late to the party, but something that I haven't seen anyone mention is a Playable Blood Moon.
    I would love to see the sky turning red, malice coming from the ground and live the event of monsters coming back to life or even better, monsters becoming super powerful for that night.
    If the sequel is going to be a darker Zelda game, now that the power of Ganondorf is going to be more present, it would be nice to have a more powerful blood moon.
    I would love to see the NPCs reacting to the event, like getting inside their houses and locking the doors, I would like to feel that is something to be afraid of, something traumatic even, like the last night in Majora's Mask.

    The run and jump buttons to not be both mapped to face buttons, and the various quickswap menus going from ribbons to wheels.
    Maybe also make it so that you don't have to use all of your charges before whatever Champion Ability analogues you have start recharging. Possibly have them recharge different ways, too, or making it so that certain sections reduce the cooldown like Urbosa's Fury recharging from landing successful hits on enemies and Revali's Gale recharges faster when you're gliding rather than walking or climbing.
