Backwards compatibility is a MUST. I also hope for better ergonomics...
oh wow only 3 new goggles in nearly a blink thanks dji lol
Sounds like spotters are no longer needed. :)
DJI, that's cool to be able to view the outside world through the goggles, but I'd trade that for getting an analog input again, and being able to remember bound devices when switching between O3 and FPV System.
The binding issue has been fixed with the Integra and 03, at least with the Avata.
G2 also have no binding issues
What's analog! If you want analog, but that crappy overpriced ANALOG2! LOLOL 😅
@@KOrnhOliO1 I like avoiding the clutter of multiple goggles when I just want to fly a little whoop around the house. That said, I bought my son some EV800D goggles, and they're actually pretty good for the price. I could have bought those and spent less than the BDI Digidapter and TBS Fusion. But here I am.
@@Lucianrider Good to know! I assumed that the G2 and Integra had the same problem as the V2s, but maybe it's just the V2s. If I switch from O3 to DJI FPV System, then back, I have to rebind my O3. 🙁
I had this on my skyzone 8+ years ago, almost never used it. I have another theory though; what if these cameras are used for headtracking, like on VR headsets? Its about time someone made a digital gimbal again, like Parrot Bebop had nearly 10 years ago. Basically a wide angle lens, big enough sensor (I think O3 already has 20MP) and then you crop out a 720/1080 segment to transmit to the goggles. Parrot used that to stabilize the image without mechanical gimbal, but also let you pan and tilt the view. Vombine that with good headtracking, and you have a game changer. No more messing with camera angles ever again, and freestyling will never be the same.
You can already do rotational head tracking with DJI goggles, and the exact feature you are talking about is already available on DJI camera drones or if you want to DIY a solution. VR headsets use cameras for positional tracking, not rotational; it's cheaper and easier to implement rotational tracking with an IMU.
I forget about it on my Skyzone. Never use it
Big difference between single camera for simple passthrough and what this will likely end up being: MR or mixed reality for visuals overlayed over stereo camera footage. It's what the Quest 3 is built around.
@@CDRaff No, what Im describing is not available. DJI currently lets you use headtracking to control a *mechanical* gimbal. Slowly and inaccurately, nausea inducing and not at all comparable to VR. A digital gimbal would be nearly instantaneous and, if paired with very accurate headtracking, could be quite similar to a VR experience. Well, it would work better with hdzero, as with DJI you will always have 30-50ms latency which is a lot for VR, but even that would be >10x better than what we have now. And you could use it on racing/freestyle drones without the weight/cost/fragility of a mechanical gimbal. On camera drones you could use 2 cameras, one for FPV with headtracking, one with a gimbal for video. Also, IMUs only give you relative angles and they drift over time, while a compass is notoriously inaccurate. Cameras give you an accurate absolute reference that would eliminate the need to constantly recenter the goggle.
In other words...Old Technology 🤣
I love how dji keeps making things no one is asking for while ignoring everyone begging for an analog bay.
Exactly dude. Theyre still making “fpv” stuff like they make it for Mavic owner crowd.
By everyone u mean a small portion of old people 😂? Im only kidding. Honestly though I think from their perspective they have to appeal to the masses sadly. Analog is definitely Appreciated by a more core group of people in our community.
True 😔😤
You are not everyone 😉
On...off...buttons. 6s
Hdzero lol
There is no way I’m going to upgrade if it isn’t compatible with the O3 air unit. Too much of a hassle and price to upgrade the vtx on my drones. Plus, I think the pass through function is a gimmick for FPV pilots, it will just increase the price more. It would be nice though if the new goggle can achieve lower latency (10-20ms) compare to what we have now.
It’s almost a given it will be backwards compatible!
Every single new hardware they release they start out saying this. Then a month later they firmware update it to work. What a marketing tease.
I love enabling the front facing camera function on my old Skyzones and giving it to friends and asking them to try walking around. Its really hard, and super funny to watch. Ian, you should see if any of your friends have some of these older skyzones so you can compare it to what the DJI goggles do, since a lot of us have experience with that. Those who have tried it are not going to be too excited about this feature
I can see some use-cases for those front-facing cameras, but I bet they aren't going to be used much by FPV pilots... It will just bring up the price for those goggles, which imho isn't worth it.
My Skyzone 02x had an external camera, and I only used this feature once, when I accidentally pressed the wrong button mid flight. I only wanted to start dvr recording 😅😂
Yeah I have the skyzoneo30 and never use it. It did take a while to remember where and what all the buttons did with them on. But I have mine set up to start recording by themselves and to delete old footage when the SD card fills up
Same. Lolz.
That sounds great, maybe it's finally the time to upgrade.
Very interesting indeed. Thanks, Ian! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Two features are crucial for me: Better fit than the Goggles 2 & 03 compatibility. Else it will be a dealbreaker.
I can't wait for DJI Contact lens. Maybe in 10 years.
I dream of an O4 with the DJI Mini 4 chip!
Pretty sure they will be released April 1st with this design 😊
What are the hints? Expensive, not compatible to older products and bad fitting?😂
I think I am on my last set of DJI gear to be honest. How about making a set of googles that actually fit out of the box.
Same here...
Agreed!
I was surprised by how poorly the fit was, how so many complained, and how DJI or no one stepped up to fix the situation. I may buy these. But only if I can try them first.
they weren't designed for western faces, they were designed for the almost 2 billion Asian faces they could possibly go on, so they fit perfect out the box for me
It's not hard for dji to make a face plate that caters for western face shapes. The soft fit one is exactly the same as the hard foam one, just softer. I still had to cut the nose part completely out, and I haven't even got a big nose lol
Thanks for the update, I was about to buy my goggles, but will wait until this release, Thank you!
Really don't waste your life or money waiting for the new system. Let all the bugs get sorted out and other people pay full price for a system that isn't proven yet. Get v2 with o3 air unit or the g2 at knocked down price. Then wait 2 years and get that system if you so desire.
I have all of the systems and still rate the caddx vista and love the massive fOV of v2 over the oleds and poor fitting g2.
@@doccock100 thanks for the advice, I was about to purchase the v2 or the 2. So I will aim to purchase the v2, most of the people think the same about the v2, so I believe those are the ones I should be buying.
@@Naturalezaenaltura I love my V2s. Ive got uprate foam and although they are big, and the image is not as vivid as th G2, the field of view is so imersive, more so than the goggles 2. I do fly the O3 with the V2s as well, but the detail in the dark areas are better with the vista, and you can get so many different cameras for it. I have bought a whole bag of lenses for my vista camera and swap them out when ever I crack one. Dollar for dollar, the V2 with a caddx vista and a nebular pro (or original DJI camera) is the best bang for buck (and most flyable image in all light conditions). In perfect light the O3 is amazing, but for me, that is one in 3 flights, where as the vista and nebula pro is on the money every time.
The internal camera feature was already implemented in skyzone 02 but no stereo. On mine this function sadly didn't work cause they are used ones.. I'm surprised to see this coming up again cause for my part I'm happy to take off my googles and relax my eyes after a flight. This feature would help in situations where you want to switch between first and third person view seamlessly or to check for your antenna positioning in lr
!BUT only if that function could get bind to a switch on my controller, otherwise i need to take my hands off the controls to push the button on the googles. If I have time for that I would rather take the googles off instead.
I will probably resist dji like always, but I'm still excited for new features, thanks for the video!
You're not missing anything with the skyzone front camera thing. I have the skyzoneo30 and it's kind of a zoomed in image and hard to use when looking through em. I don't ever use it. Kinda a cool feature though
Yeah. mine works but I never use it. Kinda cool and useless at the same time.
I bet you can record the Vision pass through as-well .This huge for fpv wing guys that have to hand launch then do a pull down .
I think most FPV pilots just want a goggle that’s supposed to do what is supposed to…. All this extra crap just complicates things. The cameras on the front are a gimmick and just make them expensive. This is for DJI drones where you can gps hover and then look around like an idiot. An FPV pilot would never use this whilst flying or they’d crash.
I remember Skyzone doing a stereo FPV cam with separate feed to each screen in the goggles, that would be much more effective with HD now?
Maybe because the new version of occusync 4 is what the new drones are shipping and they are moving everything in that direction. To date the occusync 4 controllers don't support occusync, perhaps a sign?
skyzone had front mounted cameras back in version 1 nearly 10 years ago
I will be one of the first to buy them when they come out. Oh and the new DJI fpv as well. I am so excited about that.
DJI taking a page from Skyzone with the front facing cameras. Interesting. Hopefully it’s more refined. I can only use that feature on my skyzone before I fly
Yeah I have the 03o and it has camera but it doesn't work :( I'm too scared to crack it open and try fix it
the eyes are just to show how daam big they are
As someone who picked up the Integra's in the Black Friday sale which are now sitting in their sealed box beside me, it makes me wonder if I should return them and hold off for a bit... Anyone else in a similar situation?
Return and buy Goggles 2. Much better. 👍🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I have Googles v2 (old ones) and I will definitely wait for as long as March 2024 or even beyond :D O4 seems to be something worth waiting.
OMG I looked around for so long to answer this question and kept getting told that the Integra's were the ones to go for!! Darn it!@@dronecamps
@@rossjamestobittwell, pick better sources ;) not too impressed by his opinions
I bought the integras just because I wanted a smaller form factor. I still have my v2's. There are improvements in the integras very much worthy of an upgrade from v2s. However... the experience inside the integras is far less immersive than the v2s. The v2s are like looking at an 80inch TV sitting 3ft infront of it, with everything in focus. The integras are like sitting infront of a 40 inch TV but 8ft away, and not all of it in focus. I was going to sell the v2s. But ... there is a place for both... so I'll keep both. Let's see what the new ones are like though!
I hope this drops the price of those googles 2 a bunch more 😂
So can you act as your own spotter? It’s maybe getting closer
Thanks Ian! I had a set of Skyzone O2X that had a camera on the front and it was awesome! I never had to take my goggles off to change a battery or a prop on my quad!
Skyzone did this 8 years ago. 😂
Super happy with my g2 and o3 so no point getting whatever they are planning on selling. I doubt they will improve penetration as its already amazing or resolution of the feed so no point changing gear.
DJI is releasing new products every year like Apple. Right, no need for upgrade if old one is working fine.
O4 uses more frequencies than O3, so the penetration will be better.
@Kai-P alright but by how much? Also, this even confirmed?
@miloschjovanovic if they don't force us to move then it shouldn't be a problem. I do want them to release new products and innovate. It motivates other to do the same and we end up with competition.
I reckon they be like flying with the Epson bt300 smart glasses where you see what the drone is seeing and what's around you wish I could make my bt300's work with a 7" fpv
Stereo pass thru to keep with the spotter regulations? Knowing DJI they will integrate the feature in a new way. Interesting. What I would really want is stereo FPV. 3D HD FPV. that would be amazing for proximity flying.
if only they came without screens but rather sending neuro signal straight to my brain.
So now we'll have FPV, and line of sight! No spotter needed Haha
❤❤ thanks for this news
Great for somebody who wish to take the video of hand launching of fix wing or looking/recording the surrounding when flying.
I just hope it pairs with my Mini 4.
I was hoping they would pair the mini 4 with the goggles 2 but now it looks like we will need new goggles.
More possible that the new goggles will pair with the upcoming Mini 5
If the rumors are correct, and a new DJI FPV goggle supports Ocusync 4, there is no reason why it would not technically be able to pair and work with the Mini 4 Pro.
@cognetic who knows..But by the time they will produce the new goggles probably the mini 5 also will be out and Dji products most time dont have backwards compatibility for an obvious reason: Marketing.
@@stst8301 Mostly agree. There would not be a backwards compatibility issue with the mini 4 pro however, "if" the new Goggles are O4. If it's not supported, it's because DJI made a decision to disable in firmware. That would be a "D" move by DJI...if so.
As an owner of the original v1 goggles, I will not be investing in this company any longer. Looks cool though, great Video Ian.
I hope they still have optical diopter adjustment
i really did not expect so soon to make new goggles. i am so curious to see what they will make and if they will make and a new dji fpv
With caddx nipping at their heels they have been left with no choice if they want to hold their position as the number one selling digital system.
@@JC-pp9tuCaddx still isn't close!
Really cool if this goggles can see around you . I meant so we can see around when we have the goggles on.
See the Karen’s coming
I absolutely love the idea of being able to see around me with them on... especially using avata etc with position hold functions. Btw I fly traditional stuff aswell as the avata... but I am a dji fan boy lol
Dammit, Ian, I just got the Avata 😆
Thats a perfect and well tested machine/ combo.
Enjoy!
@@stst8301 thanks 👍
DJI might not listen to the community, but they give us what we really need with RID. If they have 4k air units then we're all sold
My V2’s are my last dji goggles, getting sick a tired of their BS. I want the goggles X from caddx, just need to wait a see what they do to improve their new system.
Yeah, might as well make a big downgrade! 🤷🤦
Hdzero.....

You now know what feature your next goggle will have
Excellent Ian
skyzone had that long, long time ago in the o2x. Its a gimmick that may have an occasional niche use, but will be generally useless for fpv
@@aasenov Yes I had a set of the O2x. The camera is a great idea for those like myself that have to look around for their glasses each time I have to raise my goggles if I need to look around.....
Skyzone had the right idea but the camera itself wasn't up to the job
passthrough should be a standard IMO.
I don't need this feature, it will increase price even more
Thanks DJI.
We already shifted to walksnail.
Skyzone had front camera in their goggles 10 years ago, but super keen to see what dji are doing with this
Wonder if this will satisfy the need for a spotter. 😊
Yeah - that'll go thru FAA in a heatbeat ;-)
My Skyzone 02s had the goggle passthrough feature - it was sometimes handy, although most of the time I just lifted the google by habit.
Thanks so much for sharing. Great channel. I love your tech den. 👍
this would be cool if a switch on the radio could change drone view and goggles camera view, cause when you flying long range you have to lift up your goggles sometimes to check if you still have line of sight to a certain place on a high mountain and I am always to scared to do it haha
And here they are...
Give us proper pancake lenses like those found on many VR goggles.
Does anyone think they will release an FPV 2 to work with these new goggles?
Well, Ian, that sounds like an awesome addition to the goggles. Then you would probably be FAA compliant with the goggles on
I want a "hobby" version with NO RID capabilities AT ALL
I live in Japan and need a drone under 100g. What do you recommend? I need it for taking high quality architectural photos only.
Pavo Pico..with DJI 03.. comes in at 100 grams..very fun drone and it will do cinematic as long as it's calm weather or indoors.. it was made with the Japanese market in mind
@@thrillchaser9492 Any news on DJI 04 cameras? It looks like the 03 has been out for a while.
@@a4gr No news on the 04.. the 03 unit has been out for about 10 months.. it's very good
Just when I thought I was out of DJI after ordering my Xs, the sale for goggles 2 on monday at $456 shipped pulled me back in. I never did get a chance to try the 03 air units before selling my v2 goggles. Pass through is of no interest to me, but the v4 ocusync appears to have slightly better range when you compare the air 2 with air 3. I have an air 3, and it supposedly works with the goggles 2, so it seems likely that the goggles 3 would work with 03?
Dang it hehe just got me goggles v2's off Ebay these new set best be worth it for them to discontinued them
Shure with promotion price for Google's 2 and integra 🎉
If they don’t have googly eyes on them, then I’m not buying them!
I finally can upgrade from DJI V1 to the V2 🎉😊😂
Apparently not enough dji drone users complained about the optics of the G2/Integra. Next level would have been a box google with high res oled.
Is there any chance that dji will add second camera to o4 unit? ...or maybe o5 unit? Unit with 2 cameras is a good trend?
Wow! Ya probably not need a VO, if you can see you're drone right.. Hopefully this is real and not just speculation..
id love to see a new fpv drone with it, like a mix between the first fpv and avata, maybe the avinox is the next fpv
Um... DJI camera drones have several AR features... With more on the way.
Hopefully it works with the drone and stock controller
I can honestly say that I'd never use that function if it were available. It's just a gimmick that'll just add to the price for a lot of people, that don't even want the feature in the first place. Lets hope that the button placement is at least easy to use!! Can you imagine...."hang on a minute I've just got to take my goggles off to find the button so I can get passthrough!!" Just my opinion though
Yess I like but why so soon come on can we go a year with out a new product... how are average folks supposed to keep up. Dji should Provide a buy back programe or something if it's you 3rd or 4th or 10th dji system provide a discount something . Nice vid
Dji!!nah pass on that thanks! I'll stick with the underdog.
Must be compatible with Mavik 2S!
that's not how dji moves
I don't know anyone who wants an analogue bay 😂
IDK why, but I'm getting heavy "I know someone who swears they are testing a new Session from GoPro" vibes from this.
I don’t publish unless we “know”
@@MadRC I don't think anyone was lying about the new Session... From what I have heard the people saying that they were testing it are very trustworthy people. I don't think anyone is lying about this either, I just don't see the financial viability of releasing a new goggle with a fairly useless feature like visual pass through within the next year or maybe two. It's not like this is going to skirt any of the FAA rules on visual observation as the rule specifically states that the observer must watch the craft without visual aids.
Just add stereo vision on their drones now. 😁
DJI Goggles 2 v2. zv902 is a code name, isnt it? I guess they will have a naming up their sleeves that is even more confusing. 😅
OP...ask your friend for hinds on release date.
Sounds like you might be able to control multiple drones at once...
They didn't even perfect the other googles
Perhaps DJI is also thinking this is a great way to address the FAA rules regarding maintaining “visual line of sight”. Something they’ve must have considered over the years. Certainly would open the door to more users being able to fly legally without needing a “buddy” every time they fly FPV.
The FAA already says that your observer has to be looking with their actual eyes so I doubt the FAA would say that looking through cameras on your goggles would be ok; especially if they added something like highlighting the quad in AR. The exact wording in 14 CFR § 107.31 is "With vision that is unaided by any device other than corrective lenses".
@@CDRaff Good catch.....Yes, than as the rules stand now you would be correct.
I won't be buying any new dji products for the time being. The front cameras sound cool, but have no relevance for FPV.
I think an O4 Air Unit will be based on an existing "customer" drone like the O3 did on the Avata. The O3 feels like a loveless spinoff of the Avata.
So I don't think we can expect a greater camera choice or lower latency in the future Air Unit because of this. But probably there will be even better image quality and hopefully better Dynamic Range
Stéréoscopic FPV
Cameras to see the area while insides the goggles just doesn’t excite me. Maybe I just can’t grasp the potential case for it.
Cooperation with Meta Quest 3?
cool November fools day joke
Proper OSD fonts pls. Not this mess with O3 and Arduplane or iNav. Or just allow WTF to do their magic, and fix the thing.
Odds on these being called the DJI goggles 2 v2 ? :D
Would be strange for DJI to launch a new product in 3rd week of Jan early Feb because of Chinese New Year… they would literally be running behind as soon as it’s launched
They have done it before so it usually happens just before or afterwards.
V1's didn't work with O3 AU so got G2's which didn't fit my face so sold and got V2's. Pretty tired DJI. Release something that fits my face and is approaching 4K 120hz and I will pay attention.
Don't care about that, but need HDMI in and out instead.
Dang. I just got my dji avata pro combo :(
Me too. I ordered through Amazon. So I have 45 days to return. Hopefully we get a release and I return
@exil3dlivecom how did it go ordering through Amazon? Was it a legit sealed new drone? I actually order stuff through Amazon frequently. Spent about 10k on amazon these past 2 months actually. With that said I ordered my avata through the official dji website because I was worried amazon would send me a used or defective drone.
Definitely excited to see what O4 brings. O3 wasn’t what I hoped it would be because although the range and penetration was better, the overall smoothness got notchy quicker because the bitrate drops sooner and the variability in latency becomes more apparent.
Your gear must be messed up.....03 is better in everyway by far
Do expect these new goggles to work with DJI Mini Pro 4?
Yaaay!!!
