Music brings people together !! It doesn’t matter what color, country, religion - when we enjoy the same music simultaneously it somehow breaks those prejudices, and can even bond you !!! It’s Beautiful
I agree but I took a lot of bullying in the 70s from both sides because I was a white kid who liked R&B, soul and jazz. Billy Preston was my favorite in a handful of bands I grew up with.
If I recall, Billy Preston, along with Delaney and Bonny Bramlett, were in the room with George Harrison when this song was written. And I think Billy recorded it (for his second Apple album) before George recorded it.
I'll sign up to any Electric Church with music like this ! Praise the Lord, Halleluia for Billy Preston & Buddy Miles bringing George Harrison's tune to next level! R.I.P. Beautiful Brothers!
the way Billy hugged Buddy at the end of that first number... only if you've ever kicked ass live on stage as a musician in a band would you totally understand that moment. When you know you're cookin and the crowd knows it too and lets you know they know it. And then you thank your bandmate for going on that ride with you. Such a great feeling! Great camaraderie.
how I loved all these guys' music from teenie times on O,O - and these marvellous people had to die much too early :-( ... RIP Billy, Buddy, George and all the others who already left us 😍
It’s interesting because they have two percussionists. From bands I’ve seen usually the second drummer maybe plays bongos or something else, just to add some other flavor. I’m not sure what advantage this band gains though. I was thinking about Neal Peart from Rush though, may he Rest in Peace. He was a one-man wrecking crew and could play like two drummers in one band. (Geddy Lee is the same as he plays bass and keyboards, sometimes bass pedals if he’s on keys.)
Rush??? OVERrated by people who never heard anything better, or just didn't get it when they did. Try James Brown, Basementdweller. Obviously Buddy Miles is a guest, and so what they both gain are each other's audiences buying their records and concert tickets (along with lots of extra stage volume and heavy gear for the roadies to lug.)
Billy and Buddy, what a team
Musicians. Horns. Playing live. Energy. Utterly fantastic! Thanks, Midnight Special!
Live music the best 👌🏽 . Great song, great performers
They rocked that.. RIP Billy and Buddy
And George…
Yep!!!!!
Yes, they did my brother. Yes, they did.
Golden age of music
The Midnight Special had some of the best television moments in music history.
Yes, indeed!!!
Billy Preston was great in “Concert for George”. My Sweet Lord is even more amazing with Buddy Miles singing along side!
I’ve never seen this performance of Billy & Buddy performing George Harrison’s My Sweet Lord.. 2 drummers,4 horns, organ & piano.. Wow..
THANK YOU MIDNIGHT SPECIAL
BILLY PRESTON, BUDDY MILES AND GEORGE HARRISON FOREVER
They took The Midnight Special to church 👏🏾👏🏾Hallelujah
Buddy Miles and Billy Preston are my style inspiration in 2024
I don't think I've ever seen an audience this enthusiastic. What a performance.
I'm George Harrison, and I approve this message. 😁
🤭 I LOVE you George, you’ll ALWAYS be, my favorite Beatle!! ❤❤❤

Billy Preston, what a musician.
I saw Billy Preston touring in The Rolling Stones band around 1978.!!. He was very popular at that time.! We were so excited to see them both.!
This is what dear George had in mind when he wrote this song...love you George and miss you so much...🇲🇽✌😎

I loved the expression of affection hetween Buddy snd Billy. They woked in an industry which tends to weaken the spirit.
The whole world needs more of this...
Just started watching Buddy Miles. all of his performances are epic.
take me to church!

His enthusiasm is infectious, and that audience is into it! 💃👏
Happy Wednesday... thank you for sharing! 💖
Jeeeeeeeeeeesus! That totally made my day. I wonder if George ever got to see that!!! He would have loved it I’m sure !!
May first concert Buddy Miles, Lee Michels, Grass Roots, 1968! Buddy stole the show!😜
You have my salute!
If you're not tapping your feet to this, you're dead. Love it!
Two of the Greatest of All Time.❤
I've seen my Lord ~met him back in May. He told me his "new name"... but, he's been assisting me since 2021 with the "hidden manna"
~good times
Alleluia!🙌 😅 Buddy and Billy had so much energy that the crowd couldn't let it end! 😄 😍
Perfection. Thanks gentlemen.

A truly dynamic musical duo!!!
I have never heard Billy cover this song before! He nailed it.
Billy was the first to release this song. Harrison wrote it but was later sued for plagiarism.
2 preachers holding a congregation
Exactly...
What a treat that was to watch and listen to!!

Buddy Miles wearing an embroidered vest by Nudie Cohn/Manuel Cuevas.
Incredible
Great devotional song to Lord Krishna
DOPE! I always suspected Billy Preston was wearing a wig. Now I know he was because the piano player and drummer are wearing his spares.
Amazin'
wow! 2 drummers!
People were just cooler back then.
amazing
This is what it's all about.
Reminds me of the days when I still had hair :)
Damn!
Best afros of all time
You can see where Questlove style comes from.
Gosh I loved his ‘21 “Summer of Soul” music/drama documentary about the ‘69 Harlem Culture Festival, have you seen it?
brilliant....
Billy P led the house band in a club called Trip on Sunset back in the day that was downstairs from the Playboy club.
Fab
🔥🤘🏻🧡🤘🏻🔥
The mightiest display of afros ever
There's a good reason that they call Buddy, "The Concrete Mixer".
💃💃💃💃
The date is August 31, not September 31
My 🧁🙏 funked ⬆️.
My exact thoughts from the first notes.
the Holy Spirit is gonna come down and see what's going on in there and touch them
come back for an encore but play the same song?
Its the guy in the back who is the real drummer.
That drummer is the great Manuel (Manny) Kellough. He played with Billy for more than 20 years.
Where is Tony Lee Phuk?

I remember the Doobie Brothers King Crimson and Grateful Dead having two drummers. I’m sure there’s more but these three pop into my head immediately
@@curtisphilumalee1447 The Allman Brothers Band was another.
@@curtisphilumalee1447Quicksilver Messenger Service has used two drummers also.

@@curtisphilumalee1447 QMS also played with 2 drummers occasionally, love them. And can’t forget the glorious, Santana.
Gettin funky wit Jesus ?
The beatles should have kept going as a quintet. What was wrong with that idea?
Is it 1975?
No, it's 2024.
There's a lot of hair on that stage.
More enjoyable than Harrison’s version.
This song was buried by the law suit - wouldn't have held any water today, but Harrison lost it.
NaNaNaNaNa Estos weyes estan bien pndjos
a bit too schmaltz for me.....peace out y'all after only 30 seconds....
They don’t make them like they used to that’s for sure!
