The first two Terminator films are incredible, but for me True Lies is the Apex of James Cameron and Arnold's collaborating together. It's just wonderful from beginning to end.

@@dancarter482 Well ... that movie doesnt have a "Q" and the gadgets that come with it AND he ends up "getting the girl ... for life", which is kinda bad if you want to make sequels. Now the True Lies version allows for sequels ... and is probably the best solution to "keep it fresh", because a well-oiled team is going to be far superior to a single agent. You can even replace someone or leave them out for a story.

Gold as always Laurenn. This movie was just a lot of fun. From Arnold being so polite to everyone he's not killing, to Tom Arnold being the partner who can't keep his mouth shut. A drugged Arnold finally being honest with his wife...then going assassin mode on everyone. Jaime Lee killing a dozen people by dropping an UZI. The whole dress alteration scene was pretty funny and cool at the same time.Bill Paxton as a lying used car salesman was hysterical. Great, fun movie. You were great as always. My favorite True Lies story is not about the movie directly, but about Jamie Lee Curtis. When the first Pirates of the Caribbean hit theaters, my friend Dan and I were dragged out to see it by our wives, and the rest of their all girl punk band. These are grown women, all drooling over Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp's from nearby Owensboro, and, well, I'm happy he did well for himself. But Dan and I had to sit in the row behind the six women: we couldn't even sit with our wives.
The previews rolled and I leaned over to Dan and said, "Ya know, the Disney Freaky Friday remake is premiering in the theater next door, you wanna? I mean, Jamie Lee Curtis?"
Dan glanced at the aisle towards the next theater over, thought it over for a minute, then said, "Naw."
I still need to see Freaky Friday, because True Lies. Dayum.

#2) - Jamie Lee Curtis. What else is there?
#3) - The Electric Guitar. Trust me.

This STOVL (Short Take-Off Vertical Landing) fighter is called the AV-8B Harrier "jump jet". It was used by the US Marine Corps and Royal Navy (UK) for many years, and was a favorite at military airshows because of its ability to hover. It was retired a few years ago because its replacement had arrived, the F-35B, which is a modern stealth STOVL fighter that can hover, as well. The US Marine Corps and Royal Navy both now use the F-35B.
By the way, that autocannon on the Harrier is real (the F-35B has a similar one). It wasn't really fired in the movie, but this is a pretty accurate depiction of the devastation it causes. It's called the GAU-12 Equalizer. It has 5 rotating barrels, fires 25mm cannon shells at 4200 rounds per minute (70 per second!), and each shell travels even faster than a typical rifle bullet. Yikes! 🥺

GTA's Hydra is a mix of an F-22 Raptor and a UK built fighter called a Harrier. The actual Harrier famously uses VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) technology, and F22s can do a vertical take off, after a fashion. Also, it's nice to see our favorite TH-cam personalities being real people too. So much time with screens can obscure that aspect.

It was a remake of an french film called La Totale!, released the same year as T2.
Not your average spy film and it most definitely works on all levels.
Prior to this film, Cameron was originally involved with Spider-Man and X-Men becoming films which had the industry losing their minds.
Also the late, great Charlton Heston resembling classic Nick Fury as boss of The Omega Sector was out of Cameron's fandom for Marvel.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE! One of Arnolds best, there’s so many great films he’s starred in. Eraser is similar to this and a solid film, and then there’s The Running Man which is futuristic dystopia and Total Recall which is more of an action comedy, but still great.

There is a great movie right now on HBO Max that James Cameron wrote and his at the time wife Kathryn Bigelow directed. I've never seen it streaming on anything else ever- you can't even buy it on Amazon video. I won't lie that parts of it are very difficult to watch. It's a sci-fi thriller- "Strange Days".

This one's a family favourite in our house. Thanks for your great reaction.
There are pretty much always Stallone references in Arnie movies, and vice versa - it was a running gag between them. In this one it's the "I married Rambo" line.
The plane is the British Hawker-Siddeley Harrier (usually called the Jumpjet) designed in the 1960s and the only successful vertical take-off place from that time. In the 80s, it was also manufactured in the US. It's still in use in some places.

i love that movie. When Jamie's character slipped and fell while doing her dirty dance cracks me up. I have been looking for this movie on the movie channels and not even Amazon has it. It was on a regular cable channel, but when I noticed it it was already half over and my wife wasnt home to watch it so I moved on....until today. Fun movie. Fun reaction. Take care.

In true Cameron form, this movie used new visual effects technology with the Harrier action at the end. It was mounted on top of a building in Miami for reference and to get all the background shots. New viewers can take it for granted because of all that can be with effects now.

47:50 Even if its not pointed backwards the area behind a rocket launcher is not safe (similar to one not wanting to be next to a NASA rocket launch but on a smaller scale). When I was in the Army we were required to yell a warning "back blast area clear" before launching.

Sodium Pentothal is what Harry was given, another popular movie "truth serum" from older spy movies was Sodium Amytal. Both are barbiturates that MIGHT make someone comfortable enough that they would find it more difficult to censor themselves or hold back a lie. Neither of those compounds have ever proven effective at extracting the "truth" from someone.
Fun fact: I was in AIT (Advanced Individual Training) back in 1997-98 when i was in the U.S. Army and i had the unfortunate luck of going to my school to learn my job from Midnight to 8am, Monday -Friday. No matter how much soda or coffee we would drink, it was impossible to not doze off occasionally. So, whenever we would look over at one of our classmates and see them start to get the heavy eye lids or their heads would start bobbing down...we would look over at them and say, "How long have you been a spy (insert name here)" in slow motion the same way that it appeared Helen was saying that to Harry!! 😆😆😆 This movie always brings back great memories for me. Glad to see how much you enjoyed! Great reaction! I'm going to check out some more!

Arnold partner in the movie is Tom Arnold, formerly married to Roseanne Barr. He co-produced & had recurring roles in the show "Roseanne" along with her also. He took part in a few movies one with Steven Segall "Exit Wounds" & had a acting role in "Cradle 2 the Grave" with Jet Li & DMX. I believe he did a movie "She-Devil" with then wife Roseanne

This is a great movie. This movie had Arnold and Bill in another movie together. I think this was their third time together in a movie. The mock up of the Harriers were so good that even the Marines had to check the aircraft tail numbers to make sure that they were not real. That's how good James is with the little details in his movies. Oh BTW I love the tat work on your neck and chest with the gem in them. Oh the one who played the daughter was in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, her name is Elisha Dushca. And Ms. Skinner is Tia Carrea.

So did everone on their first viewing. I watched it for the first time when I was 11, and I distinctly remember the split second after Arnold punches Bill Paxton in the face where he starts laughing before we see that it was just a fantasy, and I actually thought this dude just started laughing it up hysterically after legitimately getting cold-cocked.
