    As a Paramedic Retired after 34 years of experience and service in Canada, what we've started doing, or rather Th Police have started doing is, if you abuse the 911 system here, your 999 system, the Police will charge that person with Criminal Mishief for taking up valuable services that may be needed elsewhere. All funds collected from the fines, go to support our Life Flight Helicopters including the Neo-Natal Life Flight that is equipped with an incubater, which makes transferring premature babies to the best NICU at the Children's Hospital. It has its own landing pad, as do our 2 major trauma centres. We fly 24/7 356 a year. And that's saying something considering our winters get to - 40°C before a wind chill factor is considered. The - 40°C is equal to - 40°F. Again without any wind added in, and it is usually coming in from the NE or NE with a very slight uplift of Southern Air, which makes it feel even colder than what it is. Best Regards and Stay Safe Everyone!! From Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖 🇨🇦

    I see a lot of comments about the man who was “faking” unconsciousness, but in reality, it could very well be a traumatic response to a catastrophic event. Just as the doctor said, he could tell he was traumatized. It’s more of a mental health diagnosis, than a physical one, but I’m sure he was not faking anything after being in a car accident, lol. Although it is unusual, It does happen!

    I’m still quite impressed seeing doctors in the field, getting a part of the”golden hour” to the patient much more quickly, leaving more patients “viable”.
    I, unfortunately, living in Oklahoma, USA, see doctors by appointment or in the ER, where it depends on the doctor, will only do as little as possible and charge you $8.00 for an aspirin. I’ve seen this first hand, as a nurse and as a patient and/or family member. I almost died on Christmas Eve 2016 due to necrotizing fasciitis to my left foot and Septic shock because an ER doctor didn’t even touch me when I went to the ER on 12/20/16 because a small wound that had started from a blister. I ended up in acute care hospital for over a month, my surgeon said I needed a below the knee amputation after he had done an I&D to the bottom of my left foot. I refused. After septic shock, PICC line placement, 12/30-2/5/17 in acute care, 3 skin grafts, multiple IV antibiotics, a wound vac til 8/17/17, extensive physical therapy, and still in a wheelchair for now 5/18, I’ve saved my leg but have over $40,000+ in medical bills, all because an ER staff doctor didn’t care enough to even culture the fluid on 12/20/16.
    I have nothing but respect for the incredible lengths the medical teams starting with Dr available on scene to the thorough care in ER. I’m sorry to ramble but it is very close to my heart.

Good for him being proactive about his health by losing weight and increasing his exercise. He is a very likable sweet man. I'm so glad he didn't have a stroke or anything else serious wrong with him. I wonder if he had been working to much and not sleeping well. I had a friend collapsed once after putting in several 18 hour days and being unable to sleep due to them losing a young man on their shift to an accident. It's like his body just shut down on him but it scared us, his friends who were waiting to take him out to dinner hoping to cheer him up a bit, badly. He just walked in the room after getting ready then dropped to the floor out cold.

    That car wasn't that bad until the FD cut the roof off, I wonder if it was a DUI because the driver pretended to be unconscious but has no injuries at all, he hit a parked car so he might have been texting on his cell phone causing the crash and is scared of the legal consequences, so he pretends to be non responsive, the doctor is not fooled and nether would I have been. The FD over here more or less takes the roof off of every car that has somebody inside when they arrive. As for the police, well legally any accident no matter how minor requires tests for alcohol, either breathalyser or blood taken at the hospital. Even if he hadn't been drinking he would probably have been charged with something, the cops here are rather unsympathetic to people messing about on the roads.

It may well be a “minor crash” to you but I’ll tell ya what…..there’s no such thing. Major injury can be caused by very slight, at first glance, accidents….whiplash CAN and does kill. As has been noted, the guy in charge of doing the extraction isn’t a Dr, he’s just taking precautions.

    I wish the doctors here in the US would come to our homes to see us and then decide on ambulance

    • @echo9970
      @echo9970 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, we are very very lucky here in the UK. Not only do we have out of hours doctors at the end of a phone, and that they will come and see you at home as well. Or if you can get to there out of hours office then you go down there. Its alot better then having to go too ER.
      And also if really bad then we have the air ambulance, which most the time has a ER doctor on board, as well as a specialist Paramedic.
      And they carry the same things that they have in the ER, they have pocket sized ultrasound machines as well which are very helpful. And they also carry blood now and have been fof the last 6yrs and saved so many lives in doing so. Plus they can put people under a general anaesthetic if needed as well.
      And what people from outside the UK don't know about our air ambulance is, they are a charity and there paid for by the public. There not paid for by the NHS or the government, as the UK is broken up in countries so like North Yorkshire and Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire and so on. Each one has it's own air ambulance and each one is there own charity.
      I support the Greath North East Air Ambulance and each month I pay abit towards them. So if for some reason I have a bad accident and the air ambulance is used?
      That one call out costs around £12.000 so around $16.500. And I don't have to pay anything at all for that, just the same as the hospital care as well. This is why I support them, and you will find those that have needed it, they will fundraise for them and do fun runs and so on.
      Were just so lucky, but alot will take advantage of our NHS and miss use it so much, like going too A&E when there was no need too at all.

    Why are there Sherlock Holmes type of voice overs when the EMS is looking over the patient?
    _This mustn't register on an emotional level. First, distract target, then block his flailing arms. Counter with band aid's to left cheek. Discombobulate. Dazed, he'll attempt a wild scream. Employ Jaws of life and crowbar. Weakened right jaw, and fractured leg femur. Immobilize cracked ribs. Traumatized solar plexus. Dislocated jaw entirely. In summary, ears ringing, jaw fractured, three ribs cracked, four broken, diaphragm hemorrhagging. Physical recovery: six weeks. Full psychological recovery: six months.
