Great video! I had about half of the cards for this deck and subbed in wolf centric cards for those that were missing. Made for a fun time with my daughter and I. I really dig your channel with a focus on having fun playing the game. Keep it up!
Great video, Professor. It's nice to see werewolves getting some love, even if I'm not too happy with how they were handled this set. One small suggestion, though. Moonlight Hunt would make for better creature removal than Prey Upon. Even the biggest Eldrazi go down hard when werewolves gang up on them, and there's no chance of your own creature getting taken out from an opponent's trick. That's why I run it mainboard in my G and RG werewolf decks.

Hey Prof, great video! I've been playing RG Werewolves at my LGS for some time now, and it's been a ton of fun, even though it won't win every match. My build is a bit different from yours, with Collected Companies (bought by a friend of mine when they were cheap) and some other creatures. I'm waiting to get some Kessig Prowlers to upgrade it.
Great instruction and guidance. I was thinking about trying to build and test out a RG Werewolf deck but with this I have a lot more faith in what it could be.
I don't know wether to be happy or upset to see you putting out a deck idea to completion that I've been tossing in my head but couldn't really get together.
Also, while I'm giving out unsolicited tech for a deck I've only seen a buddy play at FNM, Village Messenger can be a real beating. Turn one on the play, you peck in for 1, and your opponent then has to run out an untapped land and a spell to keep him from flipping to a 2/2 with Menace. If you're looking to save a few bucks, you can sub him in for Duskwatch Recruiter.

In my Werewolf deck, I run 4 Silverfur Partisans and 3 Zada, Hedron Grinder and about 8 pump spells, the synergy is insanely good if you have multiple wolves on the field and if you have multiple Partisans in play when you target Zada, it's basically GG. I would recommend to anyone here, that you should put a playset of Moonlight Hunt in your deck, as it is green removal MADE for a Werewolf deck and will pretty much kill everything your opponent plays.
I just got into mtg right after Memorial Day. mtg has played a crucial part in my husband recovery from his stroke. I've been dying to put together a Werewolf deck and this will help me out so much because I'm brand new and have no clue where to begin.
I have taken out 4 mountains and put in looming spires to give a creature +1/+1 and first strike then if im lucky enough to have swell of growth the creature gets +2/+2 ontop of that if i have a second loominng spires in my hand another effect of swell of growth is you may put another land in your hand onto the battle field so you put the second looming spires down and with the cost of only 2 mana your creature pretty much gets +4/+4 and firststrike until end of turn.
never invested into magic before until recently when i caught the cardboard crack fever. For now I kept it cheapish and i bought a set of different wolves/werewolves to experiment as well as 1 arlinn kord. Kept it simplish since i bought other cards to make another deck so i can force my friends to play with who try to make the excuse that they dont have the cards. I absolutely love SoI and eldritch moon as Bloodborne/souls games are my favorite of all time and all the werewolves and eldrazi tentacle werewolves remind me of bloodborne. The card art is just so amazing to just collect itself.
Before Eldritch Moon, I made a G/R wolves deck where I ran Village Messenger, Neglected Heirloom and Moonlight Hunt. All of the above I think are great cards in this deck, as well. I haven't tried or even seen an Arlinn Kord but I feel like she'd be good in this deck, too. If you wanna go real meta, you can even throw Coco in this deck, too. Most wolves are 3 or less.
I've been toying with a RG tokens/werewolves/dragons deck. Kind of a mid range beat down deck. It seems to be running well in this format. Although, I haven't had much time to play with it, but last FNM I went 4-1 with it, the loss I had was when I flooded out.

I ran Wedge's SoI fully upgraded werewolf deck, but that was short lived. If you've got a competitive meta werewolves isn't gonna do too well. The deck needs Arlinn Kord and Collected Company to compete.
DtC I Guess more collective defiance because I use 4 collective defiance and it helps your deck get rid of annoying creature, spells and players would be damaged although it's not like atarka's command

i agree after reading what the card does. Definitely generates a lot of advantages mid and late game and using it on geier is amazing. I put 3 in my build. And in the description he says 4 atarkas command but in the vid he only says 2? i just put 3 in of that as well.

The idea of the Prof's Deck seems to be more Super fast aggro, Heirloom and Arlinn are quite slow for his strat tbh. I just love wolfmum too much not to throw her in mine haha

I was originally running a version of the Zada/Partisan Investigation token deck, but I'm definitely hyped for Eldritch Moon and these new additions! I really want to put together my first ever Modern or EDH deck, using the werewolf tribal theme. Any suggestions would really help me out! (Preferably for Modern.)
I split in to two piles hand over hand shuffle each pile then cut each pile then mash the two .... or I long shuffle into ten piles 9of ten one of nine and shuffle pairs together until I have two then mash
Maybe a few copies of Waxing Moon instead? It doesn't have the same versatility, but it can help with transforming your wolves and running over weenies.

+Malir Bromtor I understand where you are coming from and that money doesn't matter. However, in this case I already created a deck similar to this before he posted it and it builds faster and hits harder than this.
+azraelswrd but all those cards are super cheap cost wise and mana wise being two or less. Removal is King, and while Collective Defiance counts it's much more expensive and limits how big you can hit while most of the time Moonlight Hunt will kill anything
+Pokepowergaming Ulvenwald Captive is good when you can flip him soon after playing him, but a 1/2 defender doesn't stop much, but 2 mana for a 4/6 that is also a Sol Ring is great. I could see two different strategies: Play a lot of Eldritch Moon wolves that require mana to transform and run playsets of Geier Reach Bandit and Waxing Moon to try to get to there back sides as fast as possible. Maybe put something in like Vessel of Volatility for some extra mana ramp and try to do that. The other strategy would be to go super aggressive playing playsets of Village Messenger and Kessig Prowler along with the best two drop wolves (Duskwatch Recruiter, Kessig Forgemaster, Lambholdt Pacifist) a few three drops (Geier Reach Bandit and Breakneck Rider perhaps) and a mix of Moonlight Hunts, Atarkas Command, Collective Defiance, and Waxing Moon for the rest of the deck. Take out Ulrich, good but too slow. For your sideboard you could have a few Hermit of the Natterknolls for control and Rending Volley for Humans ad Angels (it takes down both Avacyn and Gisela for one mana, it's gotta be a good card)

I never spend over $100 on a deck and normally place in the top 4 at FNM. Vampires will only run you $60-$65.

This is true, but it was only with the SOI cards. Obviously with this new set there will be modifications. Same for R/B Vampires and B/U Zombies
My first deck that I made myself was a werewolf deck. It plays insanely fast even if you get decent draws. my fastest win was three turns.
I really like this deck. Not only is it affordable and viable, but it can also be easily swapped over to an EDH Werewolf Tribal.

+Timothy Ortiz eh money doesn't always matter I mean I spent 30 bucks on a monarch deck in yugioh and I swept some other people's 100 buck decks
+Malir Bromtor I understand where you are coming from and that money doesn't matter. However, in this case I already created a deck similar to this before he posted it and it builds faster and hits harder than this.
Why not use moonlight hunt instead of prey upon? With the bigger creatures from eldritch moon, it'd have more removal power

Personally prefer the Zada Wolves Deck (which costs about the same) but still pretty sweet
Just a question: Why no Village Messenger, Waxing Moon, or especially Moonlight Hunts?
Probably to keep the cost low.
+azraelswrd but all those cards are super cheap cost wise and mana wise being two or less. Removal is King, and while Collective Defiance counts it's much more expensive and limits how big you can hit while most of the time Moonlight Hunt will kill anything
what would be all your changes to this deck?
+Pokepowergaming Ulvenwald Captive is good when you can flip him soon after playing him, but a 1/2 defender doesn't stop much, but 2 mana for a 4/6 that is also a Sol Ring is great. I could see two different strategies: Play a lot of Eldritch Moon wolves that require mana to transform and run playsets of Geier Reach Bandit and Waxing Moon to try to get to there back sides as fast as possible. Maybe put something in like Vessel of Volatility for some extra mana ramp and try to do that. The other strategy would be to go super aggressive playing playsets of Village Messenger and Kessig Prowler along with the best two drop wolves (Duskwatch Recruiter, Kessig Forgemaster, Lambholdt Pacifist) a few three drops (Geier Reach Bandit and Breakneck Rider perhaps) and a mix of Moonlight Hunts, Atarkas Command, Collective Defiance, and Waxing Moon for the rest of the deck. Take out Ulrich, good but too slow. For your sideboard you could have a few Hermit of the Natterknolls for control and Rending Volley for Humans ad Angels (it takes down both Avacyn and Gisela for one mana, it's gotta be a good card)
+Cassady Alberico hmm I'll try these combos compared to the original with friends, I love playing werewolves so getting advice on a werewolves deck is nice
