I'm in the middle of a heatwave and haven't been able to sleep properly for days, I cannot imagine what Vegas must be like. The vlogs have absolutely been lifting my mood though, the turnaround time with this level of quality is really impressive.
cdplayer2397 as a resident of Vegas in the heat it is HELL. St least graham is lucky and gets to leave before the real heat hits later this week witch will be a record high.
That sucks man. I've luckily only suffered from heat exhaustion once; I spent half the day feeling like I was in a rotating sauna. I hope it passed quickly!
Heat strokes / heat exhaustion suck ass. I had head exhaustion when I was at an amusement park and it was an awful 15 minutes working back to where we were staying and I just wanted to collapse. Glad to see it didn't effect you too much.
Really enjoyed this vlog post. Especially your visit to the museum. It sounds like a fascinating and deeply memorable experience. Also I have a professional interest- in part of a team designing and building a new museum in Blackpool so I'm always interested in museum design.
Great to see wedge! And the Prof wise cracking. And Graham all in one video! I feel you on the heat stroke G, from Quebec City myself and I've been to Nevada twice and I can't handle it.
Seeing you r pictures of the Atomic Testing Museum was cool, and also gave me some serious Fallout series flashbacks. Glad to know you got over your heat stroke. Keep up the wonderful Vblogs, great stuff!
If there's ever a GP close to you, you could go just to look around. Possibly do a few side events, buy merch, or meet some interesting fellow nerds. Lots of people never bother with the official stuff at all, and just treat it like a mini MtG con.
And now, having seen the whole thing, I'm glad you're fine! Didn't see that much twitter activity though so I'm intrigued to see what you did for day 5 - whether you stayed for the whole thing or left early for reasons/did other stuff.
I am prone to heat exhaustion, and I have found taking a shower to be very helpful. A cool shower to help get your body temp down, and then sleep. The bit where you are walking back to your room - well, it is nice to see what being thinking-impaired like that looks like fro the outside. :)
Damn Graham, heat stroke is no joke. I'm glad you're feeling better. I went to UofArizona for undergrad, and I know exactly how bad that kind of heat is. Take care of yourself!
kinda bummed i didnt get the chance to meet you guys yesterday but still had an awesome day at GP vegas and got some stuff i needed so i consider it a win anyway
When the advert is a trailer for spiderman homecoming that you haven't seen yet, and you forget that it wasn't the video you intended to watch. Definitely gave you ad revenue this time.
Krark's Thumb (the second card he said wasn't good) is fine if you've built an entire deck around coin-flips; because you flip two coins and pick which one "counts."
I hope the chess festival isn't called the chesstival because there's another festival about [wooden?] chests called the chestival and it would be too close and confusing.
You can tell you and Kate are related, :3. [/didn't end the vlog; add a vlog ending in the morning :D.] Glad you're feeling better. Apologies Saturday was so disgustingly hot, Sunday was worse D:. Safe travels back to a much cooler Victoria :D...
I live about 20 minutes away from Hanford where Einstein worked on the Manhattan Project. We refined the nuclear material here and not too far down the way is where the pilots practiced their bombing runs. So for anyone who is curious about where the scary nuclear refining bit happened, right near me is where it happened and damn were they dumb about nuclear stuff back then.
"Is chess like super hot with the kids?" Well its less demonic as those eeevil card games, with their complicated rules, and really nice artwork. It still baffles me that's a thing some parents did, and still do, with card games.
that would have been one heck of a cliffhanger haha yeah its gross hot in south arkansas already too, but its a humid heat so its way worse from what i can tell.
TheOriginalBoman He did not miss the D&D panel. He did however get constantly pushed aside by a barbarian with a very short attention span that had an amazing top hat :P
Water! You have to continually consume water when in extreme heat. Other contributing factor to heat stroke include stress, sleep deprivation, and alcohol consumption. Glad you're ok, but next time you're in Vegas, drink water. Always.
0:06 he zooms in on that guy in the picture and it shows Auburns' win loss score as 9-11 lol. You know you're from Alabama when you notice such things.
Half the reason I moved to the west coast was for magic events, pretty much none happening in Philly. so i can see why you'd say that. Eternal Weekend moved to Ohio(?), and I never had the time to go to the SCG/TCGPlayer open events.
Is Graham unwell?! Did the Sweltering Heat of Vegas finally boil him away?! Is this the one heat stroke past the hour that will end his vlogging for good?! Stay tuned next time! Same Graham-Time, Same Graham Channel!
I don't know that chess is big with the kids so much as it is one of those things you either start young or don't. So more likely their parents are really into chess.
7:45 a lot of kids play chess. Some parents make their kids do it and some just like to play. I started playing chess when I was younger and still play for my high school.
Not really. Mainly it's just that parents know what chess is and know that it is a good thing for their kids to play so they put them into it and many kids are very good and want to be as good as they can be. MTG isn't as well known and many parents wouldn't take their kids to Vegas for a card game(understandably).
Another thing is that magic is way more expensive then chess. To be good at magic you need lots of practise and knowledge about all these cards. You can play a lot of drafts (for kids it is impossible to play casualy becase of the cost) or study it on internet (requries a lot of time on PC and this doesn't sound good to parents). And why would they go there if they don't even understand it well. So it is easier for kids to play with their friends at home. This is probably the reason why you don't see many kids on events like this.
I was so worried for him when he said heat stroke - only time I had it I was fucked up for a couple days, because we were stupid teenagers who spent a hot day at the beach without water, shade or sunscreen. I was so woozy I couldn't climb the stairs up the cliff to leave, but a lovely lesbian couple physically picked me up (they were buff af) and carried me up to safety. Puked for two days and hallucinated that my Dad's dog was walking around on two legs surrounded by green flames. TLDR: Heat stroke can be scary as hell, glad G-money was ok.
Okay, just the fact that you, Maria, Brian, and Melissa were hanging out all day makes me sad and jealous. I wish I were a relatively known MTG community content person, so I had an excuse to ask to join. Jeez.
I imagine G & A thinking exactly that when they became aware that Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs sold cheesesteak sandwiches. I'm guessing they got them to satisfy their curiosity (and glad to hear they didn't suck)

I had to be sent home from work because I was apparently swaying on my feet from the heat. Heat stroke/exhaustion is awful.
That sucks man. I've luckily only suffered from heat exhaustion once; I spent half the day feeling like I was in a rotating sauna. I hope it passed quickly!
Hey! I met you at the Starbucks in the hotel- I'm hooked on these vlogs man. Was nice meeting you!
I may have done the bounties wrong. I gave my tickets away even when I won...whoops.
TheManaSource Haha what a generous winner 😂
The one bounty I've been in you got a playmat no matter what, but you only got the tickets for winning.
Heat strokes / heat exhaustion suck ass. I had head exhaustion when I was at an amusement park and it was an awful 15 minutes working back to where we were staying and I just wanted to collapse. Glad to see it didn't effect you too much.
I was about to go to bed, but then I saw that Graham uploaded a vlog, so I was compelled to watch it.
Thank you for not having a cliffhanger. Also Graham vlogs = best vlogs.
Really enjoyed this vlog post. Especially your visit to the museum. It sounds like a fascinating and deeply memorable experience.

Claude Rodrigue My brother can barely stand Montréal, and likes to let me know how much cooler it is when he returns to Québec.
Seeing you r pictures of the Atomic Testing Museum was cool, and also gave me some serious Fallout series flashbacks. Glad to know you got over your heat stroke. Keep up the wonderful Vblogs, great stuff!
I'm way too much of a casual to ever go to a GP. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you!
If there's ever a GP close to you, you could go just to look around. Possibly do a few side events, buy merch, or meet some interesting fellow nerds.
Lots of people never bother with the official stuff at all, and just treat it like a mini MtG con.
I would be super down for doing some chaos drafts.
Glad to see this! Hopefully you recovered from the heat stroke well. 3:

I get hitting the museum, I always have to hit up the pinball hall of fame when I'm in vegas
Thanks for doing these. I love watching your video style.
kinda bummed i didnt get the chance to meet you guys yesterday but still had an awesome day at GP vegas and got some stuff i needed so i consider it a win anyway

These are so good dude. I really enjoy watching them!
"what a day for a two" - Graham Stark 2017
5:35 Fate literally told Alex to "Jund Em"
i for one appreciate the footnotes for non-mtg people. thank you.
Krark's Thumb (the second card he said wasn't good) is fine if you've built an entire deck around coin-flips; because you flip two coins and pick which one "counts."
16:43
You a camera man?
16:47 Thank you behbays!
Your blogs are really good I have to watch you a lot more man
7:28 - That man behind you is wearing the Scrub Phases shirt. Amazing.
I hope the chess festival isn't called the chesstival because there's another festival about [wooden?] chests called the chestival and it would be too close and confusing.
I'd make a pun but I'm sure I'd be chesstised.
I think in Vegas the Chesstival might confuse a lot of sleazy old guys
It'd be a rookie move to pawn off a name like that.
I heatstroke easily too, G. I felt your pain during that bit!
“They will become his”
“I drafted affinity”
Don’t need to know more
Love your stuff! Keep it coming!
Amazing vlog series! i really enjoyed it
I imagine that museum had a slightly different tone to the peace museum in Nagasaki that I visited on Saturday. Though both are probably pretty heavy.
Today: Graham suffers for his craft. Hope you have/had a safe trip home G!
For those interested, the page for the drinking cube can be found here: facebook.com/unsobermtg
you sir are a saint
Were you playing in HOD?
Heat stroke is super brutal, I've been there and hope to never experience it again. Glad to hear you were feeling better the next morning though!
But... is Graham Unwell?!
That Lyft driver was lovely
That guys drinking game is amazing they should add that in the next unset
Wow there was a surplus of Magical cards people staring at you guys
Hey, are you guys going to go to GP Minneapolis? I'd love to see you guys there
Nice to see a Windmill slam member cash a GP. :)
You can tell you and Kate are related, :3. [/didn't end the vlog; add a vlog ending in the morning :D.] Glad you're feeling better. Apologies Saturday was so disgustingly hot, Sunday was worse D:. Safe travels back to a much cooler Victoria :D...
That is a very sweeeet museum
It makes me secretly happy to imagine that chess is the cool new trend among the kids.
Loving the vlogs Graham
Glad you're doing okay G!
lmao Alex got to Jund 'em out. That's fantastic.
ive always wondered how id fair in vegas heat, i grew up in winnipeg plus thirty five summers, minus forty winters.
Canadians and heat. "but its a dry heat"
I get to walk a couple miles in the nice cool 120 degree air of Arizona tomorrow!
Ouch, be careful and take whatever precautions you can!
I live about 20 minutes away from Hanford where Einstein worked on the Manhattan Project. We refined the nuclear material here and not too far down the way is where the pilots practiced their bombing runs. Man I miss Quiznos... They folded out of quebec entirely after they figured they couldn't beat subways here ;_;
9:33 - My name is, and I approve this message. You can count on my support.
"Is chess like super hot with the kids?"
Well its less demonic as those eeevil card games, with their complicated rules, and really nice artwork.
It still baffles me that's a thing some parents did, and still do, with card games.
Adam's sealed deck sounds like my best life. I want that deck.
Reminds me of the last time I competed at a GP. GP Detroit 2016 I came down with a stomach bug and during round 5 I was puking. Not a fun weekend.
What were the weather conditions there to cause heat stroke? It must have been pretty bad.
that would have been one heck of a cliffhanger haha
yeah its gross hot in south arkansas already too, but its a humid heat so its way worse from what i can tell.
Graham, if you still have the Krark'S Thumb, I'm interested ! :D
Graham: what a wonderful day for a 2:
Toilet: mmmmm.... yes it is
Bed: No Potty Jokes!
Okay, but for real, what do you recommend for someone who's never been to a GP?
I'm glad you are fine Graham! You really didn't look well!
Wasn't there a day 5 video uploaded yesterday or do I suddenly have heat stroke as well?
I sat right next to you on your left during the first draft and I feel bad because I recognized your camera tripod before recognizing you.
where can i find the drinks matters set i really want thos ?
Was there a D&D thing that you were meant to be a part of during this GP? If so, did you have to bail because of the heat stroke?
TheOriginalBoman He did not miss the D&D panel. He did however get constantly pushed aside by a barbarian with a very short attention span that had an amazing top hat :P
I'm glad that G didn't miss the thing. An adventure on Innistrad sounded like fun. Is there a vid online of the panel?
I'm also wondering if there's a vid.
There is now.
Link?
I've lived in Vegas for 15 years and the weather always sucks. XD Heat exhaustion is the worst.
Nando Ortega I feel you man I've been here for 17 years now and it's always amazes me how hot we get.
Who's the third guy at the table with Graham and Wedge? (Dragon's Maze joke guy)
Water! You have to continually consume water when in extreme heat. Other contributing factor to heat stroke include stress, sleep deprivation, and alcohol consumption. Glad you're ok, but next time you're in Vegas, drink water. Always.
+Thomas Coury I was, constantly. It was also 44°C
+Thomas Coury The sleep deprivation I'll admit too 😄
I believe you. Just didn't see much in the footage. Also, congrats on making Day 2 again! Cheers!
+Thomas Coury Thanks!
(me drinking fluids doesn't make great material, so I don't typically record it 😛)
44C = 111F, if any Americans are wondering but not quite curious enough to google it.
14:10 Lassigur, Graham! Come on, these puns practically write themselves.
+Josh Petticrew Ashlen herself goes with "Tasigurl"
Wow dosimeters sure used to look silly, nowadays they are the size of a Magic card :D (Well the TL-Dosimeters are even smaller)
Must play magical cards
Is this going to be a short vlog? :)
0:06 he zooms in on that guy in the picture and it shows Auburns' win loss score as 9-11 lol. You know you're from Alabama when you notice such things.
As an Australian 43 degrees is not something to laugh at that's dangerous hot.
I don't know what you're talking about, Knark's Thumb is great
Chaos sealed sounds fun >.>
Half the reason I moved to the west coast was for magic events, pretty much none happening in Philly. so i can see why you'd say that. Eternal Weekend moved to Ohio(?), and I never had the time to go to the SCG/TCGPlayer open events.
This is News Nob?
Man, isn't it great how they put GPs in Vancouver in February and Vegas in June? That's some forward thinking evil.
Is Graham unwell?! Did the Sweltering Heat of Vegas finally boil him away?! Is this the one heat stroke past the hour that will end his vlogging for good?! Stay tuned next time! Same Graham-Time, Same Graham Channel!

Walking down an escalator going up?
The Chosen Jund.
I was so worried for him when he said heat stroke - only time I had it I was fucked up for a couple days, because we were stupid teenagers who spent a hot day at the beach without water, shade or sunscreen. TLDR: Heat stroke can be scary as hell, glad G-money was ok.
Chess seems like a great game for kids to get into. Equally as sweaty as competitive Magic, but WAY cheaper.
JUND EM!!
graham, im sorry you got stroked by heat
AVATAR OF WOE! I know that old card lol
I used to reference Joey Lawrence whenever I cast that card. Mercadian Prophecy came out on my HS graduation date.
Robby The Robot from Forbidden Planet!!!
"You a camera man?"
IE Nathans is known for hot dogs/franks, not cheesesteaks. Still good stuff though.
I didn't even know nathan's offered such a thing. stick to what they're good at, hot dogs.
Chess would be something your parents would pay for a plane ticket, unlike Magic.
Depends on how much your parents support your hobbies.
You're in Vegas and eating at Quizno's and Nathan's? Do you know what's in Vegas?!?!?
Food poisoning from unreliable buffets?
Iiiiits Windmill Slam people
10:57 Nateson makes an appearance
Okay, just the fact that you, Maria, Brian, and Melissa were hanging out all day makes me sad and jealous. I wish I were a relatively known MTG community content person, so I had an excuse to ask to join. Jeez.
Tasigurl
Bike 13 miles in 123 degrees weather in Arizona then tell me it's hot
Not saying this to be mean i'm just saying I deal with that every day
Yea but it's a dry heat.
+Jon Reyes Turns out it doesn't matter 😄
Eating Nathans but not a hot dog?
I imagine G & A thinking exactly that when they became aware that Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs sold cheesesteak sandwiches. I'm guessing they got them to satisfy their curiosity (and glad to hear they didn't suck)
