what is the coupon code we need to enter?
There isn’t one. Discounts are already applied.
Marc how do we submit our own video if we don’t have social media. I have a single car garage shop I have been working on for years that is fully functional and I’d love to submit my own video for your review.
We're not currently taking submissions but we may in the future. Stay tuned.
Wow! Thanks for the shoutout, Marc! I feel honored that you would show my humble shop. It's my sanctuary. I never thought an outdoor shop could work, but it has, and I love it.
Loved seeing your work space. I’m similar in that I only have a pergola to work in - woodworking on wheels is an interesting challenge.
@@peterdenkel5014 it’s one I’ve grown to love.
Chip are you the guy from Colorado Springs?
@@TimothyyFox nope - I’m from Kentucky
It looks like, you know Steve Ramsey from Woodworking for Mere Mortals. At least, you have few projects built by his plans. Is it correct?
Very cool shop spaces! I’ve always been embarrassed to show my space to anyone as it’s a 2-car tandem garage which is plenty of space for a shop, but when you have this space that you always park two cars in, plus store everything you’ve accumulated over 20+ years, including garden items and my wife’s tons of Christmas and craft supplies, it’s a real challenge. I imagine there are a lot of guys in my position who might be interested in seeing how I make my space work for me. It’s clearly no longer a nice sparse garage as there is just about something everywhere you can put something, but it works. Everyone can make the space they have work for them, even if it’s outside or a room in an apartment, which I actually saw a guy do! Thanks for the shop tours!
Thanks very much for the shoutout! I'm happy to answer any questions/comments about my shop :)
Another graduate of the weekend workshop, I as well.
The last shop in the old building.. man what a headache to get up and running in, but what an amazing, rewarding setting to work in! I like how he he kept the original style of the building.
This is my retirement plan!
"Headache but amazing" sums it up really well :)
Contrary to popular preference, I far prefer to have all my tools in drawers and cupboards. That enables me to have a simple minimalist workspace that helps me keep the dust off all my tools and keeps the chaos and clutter at bay.
100%. IMHO a little discipline goes a long way. I find drawers add efficiency by making me organize based on my workflow and it avoids the shop from being absolute chaos by the time the project is completed.
I don't hate them quite as much as it comes off in the video but, man you should see the INSIDE of those things.. There ain't no foam inserts, that's for sure
That old building is amazing! Thank you for this video bud. Great stuff from all of those submissions
The outdoor shop is awesome. Ive got a 3 car garage and am not nearly as organized!
The third shop with the PPE hanging out in the middle is a great design. I think I am going to copy that myself. I am always laying my glasses and ear pro down as I am walking around
Love the 2nd guy's full set of Weekend Workshop projects. Made really good use of them.
Same! Maybe I missed it but a shout-out to Steve/the course would have been cool. Anyone reading this, go look up Steve Ramsey's Weekend Workshop course for plans!
That converted Blacksmith shop is Great! Would love to have that space!
I love the shop tours. It's very cool to see how other people organize, arrange, set up work flow, store, etc, etc. Sometimes I think I enjoy setting up and refinining my work space more than I like working in it! Please do more of these.
Love the videos. Always thankful for the opportunity to see new ideas.
Yo, I love Brian's channel !!!! A true artist!
Thanks for watching!!!
More more more. That was great looking at other shops. Keep it going every so often. Cheers from Down Under
I need a shop similar to what Mike has! That’s the dream!!!
I LOVE this!! I haven't been able to have a shop for a couple years and haven't been watching woodworking videos b/c the lack of actionable possibilties has made me quite sad. But living vicariously through others and letting my imagination run wild on what my shop could look like (at the next place I live) is invigorating! It fills me with so much hope and excitement. This video & reflection genuinely brought a tear to my eye because I'm realizing how much I've missed that part of my life.
I would absolutely love to see more of these; it makes me so, so happy in lieu of being able to do projects. Thank you so very much for posting 🙏
Thanks for sharing these workshops. It's great to see what others are doing and maybe borrow some of the ideas presented.
I love this!! I haven't been able to have a shop for a few years and have lost touch with the community because the lack of actionable projects has made me sad & frustrated.
Living vicariously through others and letting my imagination run wild on what my future shop could look like is so incredibly invigorating and inspiring.
Watching this video and reflecting has genuinely brought a tear to my eye because I've realized how much I've missed this part of my life. I'm very grateful to you for making content and facilitating this community. Thank you 🙏
Thanks so much for sharing the video of my shop!
I'm getting a lot of questions about the garage door mounted light so, I just tossed together a more detailed video on how that works.
Fred
Fantastic shop tour video Marc! There are definitely some take away ideas from these shops. I love the closet for all the loud things idea!
Always like seeing other peoples workspaces. Thank you!
Love the outdoor shop Mike, especially the Hoover!
I converted a 100+ year old Barn. Its all concrete floors now with 200 amp box, lots of outlets, lots of LED lights Metal roll up garage doors etc. I somehow managed to clutter it up so full of tools equipment and projects that I have three trailers out back for the overflow.
Really cool shop ideas. Thanks.
Very nice to see, love the clever ways these guys make use of their space!
i always assumed my workshop was 13 by 10 feet, but after measuring it yesterday, I found out myworkshop is actually quite a bit smaller (something like 8 by 9 feet). This might be recognisable for some men.
Awesome content! I have an old four car garage that I’ve been working on for the last 30 years so I appreciate the ideas
Thanks!
Yes, please, I love this stuff, I've stolen so many ideas from you all.
I enjoyed the shop tours!! It's always a pleasure to see how other talented people work out their limitations. I have a two car garage that is my metal working space and it also houses my 2000 Corvette. So it is very space limited like so many others. I also had my wood working machines in this garage and when I wanted to do metal or wood projects, I had to role out the saws and work benches and everything else that was in my way. Do my wood projects outside which usually wasn't too bad except on wet or hot days. I had a nice enclosed back porch on the back of the house and after some sweet talking, I got to turn it into my wood working porch shop.... (say that fast several times). Now I have filled up both places and wish I could expand both shops. What I would love to do is build a garage in my back yard to put my car in and that would help tremendously! For a while anyway...
Maybe I should just move and start over....?
Love it!
Miss those Friday live shows
I really would love to see more detail on the lights mounted to the garage door! I was literally thinking the other day I need that. Great video. Thanks
Mine isn’t as cool as his, but I used lightweight plastic LED shoplights mounted to the back of the door. For power, I used an old drop light retracting cord reel, and removed the ratchet pawl so the cord is always under a little tension. The reel is at the far end of the door track, with an outlet box mounted to the top corner of the door that powers the shoplight as well as a fan.
Thanks I put together a more detailed video and posted it just now.
Great shops. Especially love the Oreo content at the end.
That 150yo building is amazing! So jealous.
It's been a TON of work to make it into a functional shop, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
2 things, 1st just joined TWW guild so excited about that and 2nd the lights on the garage door GENIUS totally doing that
Welcome!!!
Awesome video. Started wood working myself this year. I'm a total noob (the kind that cuts wood while miter saw is on the floor) but seeing this video is sure inspiring.
Very encouraging video. Real shops with real people. I have a single car unheated garage and a basement. I have my CNC in my basement in a separate room which cuts down on the noise and the dust. Would love to have everything in one heated space and out of my basement.
A few days ago I cleaned my shop and was organizing things and trying to figure out a solution for all my table saw crap. I was pondering hanging a partition down from the ceiling next to one of my garage's support pillars. I am watching this video and lo and behold Brian Benham has done just that! I'll have to go back and review the tape when I start making it.
It was a game-changer in my productivity. I have a video on my channel someplace showing how I made it.
@@Benham_Design oh cool! I'll definitely check it out. I just refurbished an old Jet cabinet saw and got quite a few accessories for it and now I'm like, where do I put this stuff? I don't really want to go under it and try to figure out a cabinet since it has a mobile base so I was just thinking a few days ago that something hanging from the ceiling makes sense for me. Marc did a great video. Always enjoy peeking into each other's shops like a virtual garage door open in the neighborhood! LOL
Why is no one commenting about Fred's cats? I missed almost everything out the router table because I was watching the cats play in the background.
I had to stop and show my wife that part.
That's Marvin and Bug...they ere kittens at the time
Yo same omg. Adorable.
Really enjoy these. You can pick up something from each video.
Some pretty nice ideas indeed, Marc! Thanks a bunch for sharing! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Love the shirt. Cerritos strong.
love it, keep them coming
I always enjoy the great ideas in these shop tours.
I love these looks into other woodworker’s shops. My shop is less than 200sf so any ideas I can implement into my own space are much appreciated. If you ever do a collection of shop tours that would take less than 1 minute, I could participate.
Always enjoy seeing other workshops. Very cool.
Not for nothing, but I appreciate the love for Lower Decks.
These are great to see for tips. You can see everyone is really proud of their shop.
Mike Chipman’s shop shows the influence of Steve Ramsey! 😍 iykyk
Love it. Ty Mark
Love these kinds of things...love to see others spaces and use
Definitely some nice uses of space~! My shop is a 30' x 40' pole barn and I'm trying to find ways to use my overhead space. My walls are 12' high with another 4' to the roof ridge...completely open rafters, so bookoo space. A free-standing tool wall is how I'm leaning, but have to make sure I don't create a can crusher...with me being the can~!
I’d like to see the details of how the power was routed to the garage door lights, as well as how slack was managed.
It may sound funny but I really like seeing how others deal with their sapce
Like Jeff I'm in the (looong) process of converting my 122 yr old barn (garage/staple) to a wood shop ... so there are some of us out there and understands his challenges with leveling/joining different floors, insufficient insulation, quirky solutions, etc.
Straight up, if you ever want to talk about it let me know. I don't get to commiserate with people going through it much!
Love Brian's NYW Norm sticker!
I always enjoy shop tours I did see a lot of great ideas thanks Marc
Loved the tours!
Great video and great shops Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the link earlier! I'll have to dive in to the others you did!

loving the USS Cerritos t-shirt!
I shrink wrapped neo magnets onto several safety glasses, so they’re always stuck to my tools. Got the idea from Alex Snodgrass’ pencil magnets.
I really do enjoy the shop tours, I have a very small basement shop and I’m always looking for better ways to make use of my space.
Great resource for shop ideas 💡 👍🏼. Also, more Oreo 🙀
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
Love these shops
My shop is so small a video would be overkill, a photo or maybe two. But it is big enough for 2 shop cats. 😹
I live in an apartment with a sliding glass door that opens onto a step made from pressure-treated lumber, six feet of dirt, and a cinder block wall. (Basically the only reason I have any outdoor space at all is because of the mandatory setback from the commercial building next door.) So I built a deck, and put up a couple of rain shelters, and I store most of my tools in my bedroom closets. I should probably get around to making a quick tour video one of these days... :)
I always learn something from a shop tour. Especially small shops due to my garage shop having to double as car storage and occasionally even working on cars there.
My small garage shop often spills to the outside. It's not permanent like Mike's cool shop though. All the shops are nice. Thanks for sharing guys.
I think I recognize some of the items in Mike's shop as designs from Steve Ramsey (Wood Working for Mere Mortals) am I right?
Totally are correct. I think Steve is the only pragmatic build video guy on the Tube that reached their audience. Many smaller but Steve had the time to refine and improve. Like how he looks old as hell in his old videos. Haha.
I did too! It was that fold down workstation that made me do a double take first and then it was the drill/driver station and sanding station that had me like “ok he watches Steve”
I definitely used lots of Steve's stuff. He is the reason I'm into wood working.
Pretty cool shops.
I started by creating log furniture, other furniture pieces & crafts from a screened in porch and living room (of course was a bachelor at this time) but I made the best of what I had to work with like some in this video.
definitely show some more
Oh wow! I haven’t watch one of your videos in a very long time. I dig that white hair, just like mine 🤣 time doesn’t forgive anyone 😅
9:16 Wrestling cats!😺😺
That's marvin and bug... they do that a lot
love that shirt
Brilliant to see that someone else has an outdoor shop. I wonder what kind of climate does he have there? I.e. is it dry around the year? How's the winters - snow and sleet or milder?
Doing your part to save Lower Decks with the Cerritos shirt I see
Every little bit helps.....I think? :)
I see some WWMM inspiration in that outside shop! Love it!
Someone else in the comment section mentioned it too I almost immediately recognized the weekend workshop projects!
There is a common feature across most woodworking community: the workshops in many ways look the same: busy and chaotic with stuff everywhere. For an activity that can produce a ton of dust the amount of dust gathering stuff exposed is mind blowing... then we have far too many in-builts and rigidity (cabinets) built into walls: extremely challenging if one wants to move out (of if one passes away then the relatives will have a very hard time cleaning it up...) with lots of wall furniture that likely won't fit in the new place... from all channels I know, taking in just small workshops, Hooked on Wood has got the best one. What we do is incredibly complicated and requires an unbelievable amount of stuff - needs to be practiced to be believed .... and it is not surprising to find so many workshops with stuff everywhere but I reckon we can do a lot better - rather than having stuff hanging on from everywhere (maybe with the exception of dust extraction / lifts hanging on from the ceiling) I reckon and favour a clean environment is way better: nobody needs hundred tools at the same time! The only things that really need to be on show (and on casters... or on benches) are the heavy tools but it turns out most people prefer to have the whole workshop content on show. They have my respect! I am just sad I can't show the way I do it. Maybe one day!
For what it's worth, I agree with you, but keeping everything as clean as I'd like is a lot harder than it looks. I'm actively working on making more and better integrated storage so more of my tools have a place to "live."
I see you are a Lower Decks fan there!
Woot!
I. Don’t have a shop made every stick of furniture in my house all the doors lots of stuff for child and friends all on my front path I live in a tiny house in England
FYI, quite a few of the shop furniture in Mike Chipman's carport look like items from @SteveRamsey's "Weekend Workshop" course. There are a lot of great designs in there, especially for folks just getting started!
They are mostly from his course! He was my inspiration for the shop and I wouldn't be doing wood working if not for him.
Very cool shops... But what I really want to know if where I can get me one of those sweet, sweet U.S.S. Cerritos tshirts?
Mike Chipman - respect. :)
Thanks man!
The classic unisaw is the ultimate table saw, change my mind
Thats what I have. I have toyed with the idea of replacing it with a SawStop, but so far have not done it...
One of my best shop purchases
Lower decks!
Lower decks!!
Mark, I confess I haven’t visited in a while: How on earth did you get the ASSMAN license plate??
I was roaring laughing. An object of tremendous envy…
It can be yours for only $20 lol amzn.to/3WsW8eT
But pucker bit ? Lmao
Thank you for laughing at my dad joke 😊
@@Benham_DesignI was immediately think great name for a bit but probably the honest reaction to it. Love the tour, thx.
@@Benham_Design I will be perpetuating that joke for the rest of my life. It caught me totally off guard, I literally laughed out loud! Haha
Its a C8... your going to stand out. And out perform the vast majority of Ferraris. So... how about a Matte storm trooper look? Or... if you can find a matte pearlescent white. Or... wrap it like a matte carbon fiber. Wraps are neat.
Brian said that thickness sanders were only made to frustrate woodworkers, are these machines really that fussy??
That outdoor shop was pretty awesome. Not letting lack of indoor space slow him down! Credit to Steve Ramsey plans for all of his carts, cabinets, stands etc that are part of Steve's Weekend Woodworker courses. And of course Credit to Mike making all of them so well!
What about your neighbor’s Jim Shop?
👍👍👍👍👍
No "Buffer Time" in those shops.
What is "Buffer Time?" Should I add it 🤷♂
@Benham_Design oh its a silly Star Trek Lower Decks reference (Season 1 Episode 3 if you're curious). With how hard you work, I kinda think you might be incapable of buffer time 🤣
I feel like every reel I see of makers in 2nd/3rd world are working in Outdoor shops./
Drum sander irritating? That's a gross understatement.
It's So frunstrating
