This is my first video of yours and, aside from the piece of art that you made, and the amazing story of how you went ott on the debt repayment (which I love and also do lol), I'd like to say - what a community! It was all so beautiful to watch, but to see this many woodworkers collabing in someways and to see you recognize their part in this project actively was really nice and comforting
Hi Aussie, it's Pom Paul here sitting in Scotland UK. Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your videos, not only for the great advice, but also because you never fail to cheer me up and make me laugh. In a nice way. There are few people I have come across on the 'Tube, but you are definitely in my 'blokes I'd be happy to buy a beer'. However. . . on the down side. My wife is not too happy with you. I retired a little while back and whereas she thought I would be looking after our tiny garden, now it's filled with sheds, pallets, tools, sawdust and general mess. So if we do share a beer, don't expect her to be there. Love your stuff, keep up the great work. You inspire me. Pom Paul :)
Hey Paul, speaking from experience. Your misses will be very happy with you soon as you help out way more around the house to earn yourself more shed time haha thanks for the nice words too
Ouch Paul, that's a bit harsh (of the wife). Should be happy that your working at home, and not spending your retirement at a pub. Making a few raised garden beds for flowers and spuds, might win you some brownie points, with the boss. 😆
That was totally rad mate on every level. Doing the right thing in a very classy fashion. That bench is super cool and fit right in to the shop perfectly!
Man. I have some unfinished projects that I owe people. You reminded and inspire me to go work on paying my art debts. This was an awesome build. I definitely wanna do flips off that bench.
what a great story. as a dude from SoCal who almost literally grew up on a skateboard, now a 50-year-old weekend woodworker, I was riveted the whole time. loved it. made me feel good "on the inside." XD peace and love from the other side of the world!!!
You always have a great positive spirit Dainer. Love you dad-humor and way of explaining the thought process and doubts. This is so far one of you best product.
More than a piece of art Mark. It is a one of a kind bench with many hours of thought and sweat put into it. A true gesture in how we should all treat each other and take nothing or no one for granted. Great work acknowledging your fellow makers. Love the goodwill between you all. Well done Mate.
It's a beauty. Thanks for sharing. Can we please get a link to those vacuum bags added to your general list of goodies? You linked them once and I can't find the particular video you did it in.
As an artist and retired art and design proff, I totally appreciate that piece!❤ it would look great in any contemporary interior. Like my living room 😊
Dainsey, I'm very glad TH-cam suggested your channel to me. I really enjoy your videos. I really enjoy the other channels you mention. Just a wonderful group of makers, and watching you in action makes me smile. I very much apprciate how you tell your stories as you build things. Thank you; Mange tusen takk; Tak skal du have; Dziékujé; Thanks heaps, mate!
From one kind of Oz {uk native} to another, great fun, entertaining & bloody useful vid mate, magical editing with the workshop slides {were u on a skate board dude} & that clamp cluster throw technique should be an olympic sport.
Mate, don't worry about those childhood regrets too much. I too was also a very average skateborder in my teens. I did drop in on that half pipe many times. Until, that is, I landed awkwardley and ended up with a spiral fracture of my fibula (not to mention the stitches in my chin from a seperate attempt over a little street ramp).
The algorithm threw up your vid as a suggestion, must be the Aussie MCM lads I watch 😂 must admit found your videos to be very entertaining, not just your standard woodworking videos with very Aussie/British style humour, very good, earned yourself another sub there Cobber 👌
I can't claim to know "Aht," but I know what I like, and that bench is Art, and I like it. A lot. Great "redemption story," too, Mark. Cheers, as always.
Aw, I love a project video - thanks for making my morning, Dainsey. Beautiful project and as always, top job telling the story. The red pallet wood looked familiar - the heaviest pallet I ever found was made of something very similar. Mine had big open pores that gave me some trouble at the finishing stage, as the oil kept bleeding back out. I guessed red oak, maybe? But, um….where do you get broken skateboards??
haha, see you asked about skateboards after you acted like a human, so I am happy to tell you, but you already now know. Cheers mate, oh, if only pallets came with species labels
@@dainermade Haha! Oh man, yes - I keep checking those apps that identify plants and stuff for when they’ll do wood grain but so far nothing that works and doesn’t cost an arm and leg to subscribe to. I guess I have to find me a Canadian delbasid.
hey mate, where do you get your round brand tags from? I have been looking everywhere but can't find a supplier. always a pleasure to watch your videos, kudos from NZ
lovin ya work dainsy! i'm with you, i loved skateboarding and then snowboarding, wasn't really ever 'great' at it but enjoyed every minute of it 😉 wanted to ask, where do you get your veneer from?! i'm attempting to build a speaker monitor stand thing for my desk and've opted to use mdf cos it's cheap! was gonna paint it but veneer is tempting...
i have found when pulling these pallets apart that if you tap the nail in a little first it helps to "break" the hold the rust has and then they are much easier to pull after that and yes these hardwood pallets are great for wordworking projects
Nice job. When stripping down pallets, have you tried heating stuck and delicate nails before pulling them? The heat chars the wood around them and loosens the grip.
A piece of furniture? Yes. A work of art? Definitely. Rad????? Abso-fucking-lutely!!!! Its amazing what one can accomplish with no plan, a bit of math and science, a shitload of creativity, and the tenacity to get the job done!! Well done mate!

Nice one mate, really enjoyed the video as usual! I reckon I'm following most of your shout-outs already ... off to subscribe to the rest. Thanks for the inspiration and entertainment!
Hey Mark. I was just watching one of the videos on your unofficial channel. I noticed your riving knife seems to move around a lot. In an old saw I had, my riving knife came loose, ripped out and got lodged in my chest, giving me a helicopter ride to hospital. Also. On cleaning your saw blades I have a spray bottle with some truck wash mixed up in it. I just wind it all the way up spin it by hand then give it a spray. I wait 5 minutes then give it a wipe down.

Anyway, love your work mate!

easy - Hall table any day of the week. cheers
Question you use your pocket hole do you use normal screws or special screws please?
