Siener van Rensburg - The History of South Africa

Siener Van Rensburg was considered by some to be a prophet of the Boers. Consequently, his nickname became "Siener" (Afrikaans for "seer"). Siener's visions were typically presented in a patriotic and religious format, and many of his followers believed that they contained predictions of future events. During the Boer War, Siener became a trusted companion of General de la Rey and President Steyn, though the extent of his influence is disputed. de la Rey's devout religiosity may have contributed to belief in him as a prophet of God. This forms an important part of the history of South Africa
