    / @bethebossofyourmotorc...
In this video I cover how Exercise #2 is relevant even in your driveway.
You may be asking yourself, who are PRELOADERS?
    PRELOADERS:
Subscribers to this channel who are dedicated to being proficient in slow speed motorcycle operation.
    What does PRELOAD mean?
    PRELOAD:
Engaging the throttle to raise the RPM’s (revolutions per minute) above idle and holding the throttle there, with the clutch pulled in (no power to the rear wheel, “in reserve” “PRELOADED”). This process will make power to the rear wheel available to the rider immediately when the clutch is opened up. There’s no need for the rider to be concerned with twisting the throttle for power because it’s already PRELOADED.

Seeing Don practicing riding between two cars is a big deal for one simple reason. His age. It's easy to be cocky when you're in your 20s. At Don's age, it's a whole different ball game and level of bravery. Bravo, Don.

Hey LT - been practicing and the other day at the gas station I went to make a u-turn and as I’m going through I felt my bars go into full lock and man it felt good knowing it was the tightest u-turn I’ve made unintentional just by confidence built by your practice exercises. Thanks for your efforts on sharing life saving knowledge.

Had a situation the other day when I had to gas up. Had to make a sharp right turn off the street thru the gutter up hill and a sharp right turn to the pumps. I was terrified, but I was already preloaded and in the friction zone with the rear brake covered. Really thought i was going to drop it, but I remembered you saying oh oh so I left the clutch out farther and made it with out running over a gas pump. Needless to say I was thankful for you and really felt I had accomplished something. So thank you again Robert.

I’m glad you felt like you really accomplished something because you did. You could have easily given in to that doubt and fear, but you chose not to… You trusted and you believed! That’s a huge accomplishment because it’s in the memory banks now! While it’s there, keep doing it. It will become 2nd nature. Very proud of you my fellow Preloader!!!!!!👍🏾👍🏾

Today I got stuck in a tight spot at Home Depot. Had to make a U-turn in a parking isle due to a stalled vehicle. Used what I've learned on your channel, preloaded, covered the rear brake, let the clutch out to the sweet spot and turned around within 18' with bars locked and no foot down! Thanks LT

Hey Robert, I just had to comment and tell you that I just did it! I turned from my street onto my inclined driveway between me and my lady's cars into my carport for the first time without putting my feet down even once! I Preloaded, used my clutch and rear brake to near perfection (I'll never say perfect because I'm still learning) but I did it.
I just took the MSF class in October of this year and bought my bike immediately after I passed the class, I still have a slight fear of the bike especially because I have fallen off once but I have realized after watching your videos that was because I didn't have enough power going to the rear wheel during my turn ( I can't exactly remember but I also my have grabbed the front brakes) anyway I've watched all yours riding lesson videos in your Playlist. But I DID IT I'm smiling from ear to ear and I look forward when it warms up again here in Missouri to riding everyday so I can make riding slow second nature

Hey Rob, great video as always. I’m fortunate to ride with former (retired) members of the Vancouver PD drill team. Although they’ve taught me a lot about precision riding, your preloader videos have really fine tuned my skill set.
The other day while riding up to Whistler with my wife as a passenger, we were crawling into a very busy Chevron station. Cars were tight and had to negotiate a narrow pass way through to an empty pump. Stayed preloaded with power to the rear wheel while slowly weaving and had to come to almost a complete stop with feet still on floor boards to avoid another car. Just let out clutch and gracefully rolled up to the pump putting left foot down.
My wife said “well done” and a fellow fuelling car next to us said the same thing. We ride a 19 Harley Road Glide Ultra. I’ve been riding since I was 12 and took a 20 year hiatus before getting on bigger cruisers again 6 yrs ago.
I agree with another preloaders comments around balance challenges as I’m 60 now. Practice makes perfect though and my wife laughs when I do push ups now ..... front brake eh lol ;)
Thanks for your service and all your hard work on making these videos.

Answers: rear wheel stands you up. Rear brake adds control.
Robert, what you provide is immeasurable to so many. I relate to your other pre-loaders. I went to the local garage today, filled the tires with air and went to leave. Wasn’t sure I could do a U-turn, but not only did I do it, but did it with plenty of room to spare. What did I do next? Well, here in Germany on Sundays, all stores are closed so I went to a parking lot and practiced. I have a lot to improve and am still learning. THANK YOU so much. Brian.

    Mr. Simmons,
I just wanted to stop by & give my thanks!
Your knowledge generosity has helped me achieve so much more self-confidence while riding a bigger/heavier motorcycle! I started on sportbikes & haven't ridden anything else throughout my street riding time, but now in my 30's, I went to a Goldwing.
Immediately I was intimidated handling the Goldwing at slow speeds compared to the sportbike, but after watching your videos & practicing a ton, I feel a lot more relaxed! I will continue to practice & will always follow your videos. Thanks again!
    P.S. I will be purchasing a t-shirt soon 🤙😎

Robert, this particular video is extremely helpful, being that it is a scenario many of us face almost daily.
As you mentioned, this process is second nature to you and something you don’t even think about when you’re driving between your cars on your driveway. So, in that light, for you to pause your habit in your mind, reverse, and then break your habit down into steps of a lesson for us would have been quite a task.
Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into this and all your other videos!

I have an idea how preload can be explained to people who just don’t get it. You know how you raise the RPM’s on a lawn mower? That’s your preload. After the mower blades turn on and it has to propel you through the grass it takes power away from the engine. So we load it and keep it loaded. Step number 3

I've learned so much from your videos even after riding for years. This might be a silly questions - I get the concept of keeping in the friction zone but if you always pre-loading doesn't it burn out your clutch faster. It reminds me of when I first learned how to drive a stick shift car, you're revving the motor and slowly releasing the clutch, but once you get the hang of it you just go. Thanks for your videos!

I didn’t watch the whole video because I’m getting ready to leave for work. My question is, why get on your bike from the right, instead of the left 🤔. I get on where the kickstand is located. I’m a new rider kind of. I learned over 10 years ago. Just recently got my motorcycle license when I moved to Florida, from California. I’m ALWAYS up to getting more information about how to ride. I don’t have a bike yet, but I’m working on it.

    • @BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle
      @BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes there are two reasons I mount and dismount my motorcycle from the high side. The first reason is from training. Officers usually pull over on the right side of the road and when doing so, we are trained to dismount the motorcycle on the non-traffic side for safety. The second reason is it avoids accidentally causing scuffs on my saddlebags or backrest or anything else that may be victim to a swinging foot. This also includes a passenger being on the motorcycle while you're getting on. The third reason and most relevant one for now is it's easier. My hips are bad so not having to swing my legs up and over the seat is very beneficial. Hope that helped.😊
