But then of course it may also be symbolism as a matter of the Joker's changing perspectives (he's an unreliable narrator) and showing how he's more comfortable with the chaotic city at the end.

Intensity comes from not knowing whether something is going to happen or not, with the possibility it won't. This is a movie about him becoming the joker. You KNOW what he's gonna do, and what he's gonna say cuz of how the movie has built itself up.

I personally loved the ending scene, seeing him chased around like in an old cartoon really felt more like an comedy than a thriller to me and I think that was an amazing end to an amazing film.
I think this puts you in his world a bit more. Everything around him and everything hes doing is fucked up but this lightens the tone cuz youre immersed in his perspective. The same way that the guardians of the galaxy takes place in a world without sanctity but is light hearted because of the comedy, fratty saloon violence, and sick soundtrack.
I really don’t think you understood the ending. The whole idea of the ending was that the origin might not have happened at all. He could have made it up in his mind while he was sitting there talking to the psychiatrist. In the killing joke the joker says how he prefers to make up how own story.
I don't think that joker deserved 11 nominees, it's a very good movie but not this epic, but I think it deserves acting, original score and cinematography. And endgame deserved more than just visual effects nominee, It was very very well received from critics and non-critics.

Seth Stoll all of his jokes throughout the movie were depressing, suicidal, or tragic. I doubt there would be anything funnier to him than Thomas Wayne’s child watching his parents get gunned down in an ally, because of the jokers actions.
He makes a dark joke on the live show, showcasing a pretty dark sense of humor. So him knowing his actions lead to the parents being killed would just be another one of his jokes.

One of those is a perfectly respectable thing for a person who consumes media to believe, and the other is a sign you should never listen to any movie recommendations they give you ever.
For me top 3 Jokers are the following in no particular order: Heath Ledger Joker = absolute embodiment of chaos, legendary, terrifying yet also funny, and can absolutely be seen as the definitive Joker Mark Hamill Joker = the comic booky Joker. Absolutely insane, completely unpredictable and that makes him utterly terrifying yet he's also somehow hilarious. Jaoquin Phoenix Joker = the bleakest, most realistic version, and it's most fucked up Joker. All three are absolutely ICONIC and any one of these versions CAN be the definitive Joker to someone which is what I love about the character.

Doctor infinite yeah the movie was really great with building tension, the funny moments were actually funny in my opinion but it was hard for me to laugh because of how intense it gets.

I disagree too. I thought it was a great way of implementing his character into this would-be batman series. I thought the rendition of his parents’ death, coming straight from the plot, was well made and didn’t overdo it.
yeah and a neat little inclusion is that after the shot of bruce standing over his dead parents, we’re then shown joker waking up standing over his followers implying that joker and batman were created in that moment.

I saw the inclusion of Bruce as a positive. When they show him standing over his family it's when Joker is rising off the cop car -- it's the parallel rebirth of both characters, a simple tie-in to show they are intertwined.

I really didn't like the Wayne's inclusion at all. My friend said "oh my god, he's Batman's brother" and I said "no, they just can't do that. That would be movie breaking," I'm glad I was right that they didn't do that.

Tbh the gotham in batman begins didnt have enough "personality". Here it works because they show the people that live there, all of the shitty persons that make gotham worst. In batman begins gotham is just another cgi set with a lot of fog and a few random criminals, its not as realistic or poignant as the joker's version of gotham

Although Joker did a great job of portraying a Gotham during an economic crisis, Batman Begins did a better job of portraying a more comic accurate crime ridden, mob infested, lawless, shit-hole Gotham..

I think Arthur meeting Bruce as a kid is bone chilling. Like, the sheer presence of these 2 soon - to be- adversaries elevates the ending that much further. It's still a perfect stand alone movie but adding Bruce didn't take away from that, in my opinion.

One little thing I really loved about this film was how much detail was paid to Fleck's smoking habits in relation to his mental illness. Near the beginning of the film he's still medicated and smoking semi frequently, but as things build and his meds become unobtainable the frequency escalates, to the point where he's almost constantly got a cigarette in his mouth. Falls in line realistically with how multiple mental illnesses function in relation to nicotine consumption. Not a super important thematic element or anything, but a lovely minor touch that helps sell the realism.

dude, spot on about the music in this movie. i went back to see it again the next day just for segment when he’s in the public restroom and starts dancing. the score for that part was unbelievably good and was paired perfectly with that scene

The ending of the movie with him in the Asylum was meant for the Audience to interpret whether what we just saw was real or not. When he imagined things with his neighbor we knew that he was an awful narrator of the story and would make up happy moments of his life to make himself feel better. This was his insanity. He never really got much love as a young kid so he would imagine his own happy moments. So at the end of the movie with him in the Asylum we're left asking ourselves "did he imagine everything throughout the whole movie?", and when it showed him in the Asylum killing that lady was that him becoming the joker? I'm not sure if I explained any of this very well, but that's what makes this movie great. We don't really know what was real or not since he was insane and made up his own stuff in his head.
I honestly didn't even catch that the relationship with the neighbor was just his delusion until someone pointed it out. I was really confused at the scene with him in her living room, but it all fucking clicked once pointed out.

Seth Stoll all of his jokes throughout the movie were depressing, suicidal, or tragic. I doubt there would be anything funnier to him than Thomas Wayne’s child watching his parents get gunned down in an ally, because of the jokers actions.
He makes a dark joke on the live show, showcasing a pretty dark sense of humor. So him knowing his actions lead to the parents being killed would just be another one of his jokes.
that makes no sense. joker was out cold from the crash and woke up surrounded by his fans. there was no way he knew what happened to baby bruce in that moment.... the baby bruce scene stands as pointless

For me top 3 Jokers are the following in no particular order:
Heath Ledger Joker = absolute embodiment of chaos, legendary, terrifying yet also funny, and can absolutely be seen as the definitive Joker
Mark Hamill Joker = the comic booky Joker. Absolutely insane, completely unpredictable and that makes him utterly terrifying yet he's also somehow hilarious.
Jaoquin Phoenix Joker = the bleakest, most realistic version, and it's most fucked up Joker.
All three are absolutely ICONIC and any one of these versions CAN be the definitive Joker to someone which is what I love about the character.
I don't think the Joker himself would want there to be just *one* definitive Joker...
I would include the Joker from the show "Gotham." He is absolutely phenomenal.

Doctor infinite yeah the movie was really great with building tension, the funny moments were actually funny in my opinion but it was hard for me to laugh because of how intense it gets.

In the scene where he shoots Murray twice and just doesn't feel like It anymore.... That was PERFECT Joker acting. Enjoying the thrill of the kill and just "well this doesn't do It for me anymore" afterwards.

I disagree too. I thought it was a great way of implementing his character into this would-be batman series. I thought the rendition of his parents’ death, coming straight from the plot, was well made and didn’t overdo it.
yeah and a neat little inclusion is that after the shot of bruce standing over his dead parents, we’re then shown joker waking up standing over his followers implying that joker and batman were created in that moment.

I saw the inclusion of Bruce as a positive. When they show him standing over his family it's when Joker is rising off the cop car -- it's the parallel rebirth of both characters, a simple tie-in to show they are intertwined.
I honestly loved everything about the film, definitely lived up to my expectations.

I really didn't like the Wayne's inclusion at all. My friend said "oh my god, he's Batman's brother" and I said "no, they just can't do that. That would be movie breaking," I'm glad I was right that they didn't do that.

Je literally built the whole set in the studios. Look it up. Giant sets of the Gotham city build from the ground up. Although Joker did a great job of portraying a Gotham during an economic crisis, Batman Begins did a better job of portraying a more comic accurate crime ridden, mob infested, lawless, shit-hole Gotham..
When I think of Gotham in Batman Begins, I just remember needing to turn my brightness up. Gotham in Joker is oppressive 24/7, they don't need to constantly show dark shots of it.

I think Arthur meeting Bruce as a kid is bone chilling. Like, the sheer presence of these 2 soon - to be- adversaries elevates the ending that much further. It's still a perfect stand alone movie but adding Bruce didn't take away from that, in my opinion.

I'm so glad you mentioned the soundtrack because it was one of the main things that I noticed and it kinda blew me away
One little thing I really loved about this film was how much detail was paid to Fleck's smoking habits in relation to his mental illness.
Near the beginning of the film he's still medicated and smoking semi frequently, but as things build and his meds become unobtainable the frequency escalates, to the point where he's almost constantly got a cigarette in his mouth. Falls in line realistically with how multiple mental illnesses function in relation to nicotine consumption.
Not a super important thematic element or anything, but a lovely minor touch that helps sell the realism.
I love how when he laughs at the beginning he is in clear distress, that also diminishes as the film progresses

The ending of the movie with him in the Asylum was meant for the Audience to interpret whether what we just saw was real or not. When he imagined things with his neighbor we knew that he was an awful narrator of the story and would make up happy moments of his life to make himself feel better. This was his insanity. He never really got much love as a young kid so he would imagine his own happy moments. So at the end of the movie with him in the Asylum we're left asking ourselves "did he imagine everything throughout the whole movie?", and when it showed him in the Asylum killing that lady was that him becoming the joker? I'm not sure if I explained any of this very well, but that's what makes this movie great. We don't really know what was real or not since he was insane and made up his own stuff in his head.
