  • This video is just the pilot episode for more quality content to come for the Dodge Raider. I have until August 18 to make it ready for a nine-hour drive up north to the upper peninsula of Michigan, where I will be attending college at Michigan Tech. The Raider will need to be able to make the journey and survive the fridgid temperatures while I attend college. Will it survive as my daily driver and offroad machine for exploring? Time will tell but come along on the ride as I begin to prepare it on a time crunch and as my wallet becomes increasingly thin.

    glad to see someone breathing life into these cool vehicles and It's nice you've got someone there making sure you do it the right way and you don't skimp on things like evicting rats and eliminating fire risks. I'm working on a 91 montero 4 door that nearly got killed by it's previous owner - but I'm determined to give it a new life.

    Nice, I have one of those got it for free, it just keeps on giving... got some serious cancer. Crack in window no door panel on drivers side, the door mechanisim completely gone. smokes and leaks, I have replaced the clutch MC and slave twice. completely removed the power steering handdles and much better off road. I love the seat spring on drivers side.

    nice, man. Curious to see what you do with the rear bumper. Mine looks exactly the same on the right side haha. PO bashed it and let it rust out. Keen to see a solve that isn't a donor bumper. cheers.

      Haha, I actually just posted episode 2 and that's exactly what I did sadly, just put on a donor in good shape.

    My '88 is in very good condition, clean interior, but no headliner, body in great condition. The head gasket blew on my way home from a day off road. Finding a motor...any motor...has been an issue. Its been parked for 2 years. Ive owned a 4runner, 2 jeeps, 2 troopers, and the Raider. The Raider was by far my favorite. I'm torn, i inherited my dad's 1972 F-250 High Boy (bought new in '72), and want that Dodge back on the road, but the Ford just makes more sense as my next project, as the motor and drivetrain are in good shape, while the body and interior need attention.

    • @Markeeise
      @Markeeise  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel you, My head gasket also blew had to replace it, otherwise just like you I love it, you get way more looks and operation driving a raider around than almost any other offroad vehicle on the road.

    • @Markeeise
      @Markeeise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The project total is nearing 4k so far including the car

  • @outside8071
    @outside8071 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Look forward to more. Actually looking to replace a lot on the one I've got my eye on. Seems like it'll be $3k fast, then a max cap of $5k investment, then hopefully hold for years, maintain and maybe sell later for a profit. We'll see.
    Where are you getting parts?

    • @Markeeise
      @Markeeise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so sick, Ive gotten a lot of parts and a lot has happened since then, I am very behind in video editing. so hopefully new video soon.

    I love the Monteros. I have 4 of them. What made you choose a Gen1 Montero / Raider? just curious. There is almost always a story behind an event.

    • @Markeeise
      @Markeeise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I needed a 4wd vehicle for college and I have to always buy something unique that you don't see anymore. I loved the 2D boxy-looking 4X4 from the 80s and just fell in love with the look of the raider/montero. I loved the heritage behind the name and their design!

      @@Markeeise Very cool. I don't know if you already know this channel, but it is an excellent source of motivation to restore a Gen1 Montero / Raider. :)

    do you have a video showing how to remove the instrument cluster on my 1989 Dodge Raider?. Apparently this is the only way to reset the "maintenance required" light.

    • @Griffbolt
      @Griffbolt หลายเดือนก่อน

      I dont have a video but its very easy to take off, there is a cover that you pull up on then the reset switch is right under it
