Dodge Raider - [Mitsubishi G54B Engine Re-Build]
Quick side notes it was pointed out to me by "Dad" otherwise known as Randy over at Dads Engine Parts LLC that when you get the block resurfaced it should be done with the front cover installed so the two surfaces are the same height after being machined. Also, The head gasket from Ajusa is not the performance one as the performance one is actually silver in color and would be part number X-10079200. Where did you find the pistons and stuff. I just pulled mine out and ive got a shop to hopefully build it, but i want it done right.
I reused the orginals pistons and rods and found a good used crank. everything else like rings oil/water pump timing chain guides etc came from either rock auto or ebay. If you want good quality stuff check out the link in the description, he has everything you need to rebuild these engine and is an expert building these engines

What carb do you have on yours? I am looking for an aftermarket one to put on my 2.6L but im not sure what works best

nice i have a ram 50 from 87 with a g54b any recommendations for things to do to get more rpms im hoping to do ITB's and i want it to rev high
some people say to keep the balance shafts, but I deleted them, that frees up rotating mass and lets your engine rev quicker and higher.

do you have a video showing how to remove the instrument cluster on my 1989 Dodge Raider?. Apparently this is the only way to reset the "maintenance required" light.
I dont have a video but its very easy to take off, there is a cover that you pull up on then the reset switch is right under it

What distributor are you using? Is is aftermarket?
I am using the orginal OEM distributor
on the 2.6L G54B, does the mikuni carb need to come out before the fuel pump can come out ? ....i have 1" clearance between the two, wiggle, wiggle, fuel pump bumps against the carb, does not clear the engine block bolts...what am i missing ?
Not 100% sure since i have a webber. Never seen an oem carb on
For me yes. I tried to replace it but couldn't. When I pulled my engine the fuel pump came out fine after I removed the carb.
@@benbradshaw4991 same ... the carb has to come out ... all fuel pumps with a single thick arm won't go in, between the air jet valve & the engine head bolt, tho ... look for fuel pumps replacements with the thin arm made of two welded thin plates ...

engine sounds great! - I recently bought my 87 Montero back from a friend I had sold it to over 10 years ago.. currently putting a new alternator in it and have a list of things to do for it. funny thing is that mine has the same crack in the windshield yours did, keep at it !you are inspiring!

I have a question i have a 1987 dodge caravan with the same engine is thier anything i can do to bullet proof this engine to make it last a long time it only has 98000 miles on it and it has healthy oil pressure
I would just say do regular maintenance on the engine, It will last you

Another tip i use 92-99 pajero battery tray in the early pajeros to run a 2nd bigger battery for my car fridge
These 4g54 engine s turbo charge realy well. Look up Australian sigma turbo set up. But then we efi using Australian magna manifolds , TR magna /diamante has big valves and roller rockers . But for lazy use a diesel 4d56t shoud be a straight bolt in

Proud of you….I had a new Dodge Raider in 1987 and rolled it off a cliff on my third month. Now I have and FJ Cruiser and it’s reliving my time as a 19yr old with a new Raider.

@@Arturchik919what did you swap in? Im rehabbing an 87 raider thats been in my dads garage for 20 years. Its in great shape but had a timing chain issue which prompted its garage stay. Going to replace engine with either a 4.3 v6 or a diesel option.
