Dude you nailed this reaction! I’ve listened to almost all of this songs reactions just to see if they could gather what this song is talking about, and you absolutely nailed it in my opinion. Definitely was surprised you knew the turtles all the way down theory!
Happy I found your channel and happy that you like Sturg’s brand of psychedelic country music. Every album he releases his sound changes and evolves... he’s a pretty incredible artist. Glad to see you checked out Tyler Childers too. I recommended a couple of his songs on that video. Sturgill released a rock album towards the end of the year last year called Sound and Fury... “Sing Along” is a pretty solid track. If you’re feeling ambitious he also released it along with a Japanese anime film that is tracked to the whole album and it’s on Netflix. For a more country sound (but not pop country) check out a couple tracks off Sturgill’s first album High Top Mountain... “Life Ain’t Fair and the World Is Mean” and “You Can Have the Crown” are a couple that stand out for me. Thanks for the video and I like your deep dive into the lyrics... keep em coming.
Like every musical genre, there are artists within those “parameters “ that transcend them. I was not a big Country music fan either, but when you hear Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash you hear something different. Outside of the traditional sense, and new artists that get termed “Country “ like Sturgill, Shooter Jennings and Tyler Childs you hear the same non traditional sound that cuts across all genres. Great reaction.
Nice reaction. There is a whole movement of alternative country that rebels against the "Nashville Sound." They have much more complicated sounds and lyrics that you may be into that is much better than the country that is played on the radio. I would try to check out Tyler Childers and Jason Isbell. Can't really go wrong with either one.
@@skansrv Sweet. I have LP5 on loop the last week or so. A bit different than the first 4 albums, but it's growing on me. The last couple of his shows have still been mellow, but somehow higher energy than a few years ago.
I love a few country artists but I can’t stand the shit country music my wife listens to on the radio. Sturgill is the real deal, in my humble opinion. His new album “Sound and Fury” is quite a departure from his first few offerings. Not sure how I feel about it.
I like strugill because he plays what he wants. Hes not held back by genres. Sounds and Furry may not have been a masterpiece like a sailors guide to earth imo. But I still love it and love what he does.
I think you would really enjoy a lot of what they call Outlaw Country. Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Gram Parsons. And if you like Sturgill's humor, check out 'If You Want It You Can Have the Crown'.
Great reaction man. Pop country is the worst. There is a whole world of country out there that isnt played on the radio. Check out Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, Cody Jinks, Drive by Truckers ect.. Start a Drive by Truckers Station on Pandora or Spotify and you can discover a lot of real country artist. Along with some southern rock.

Bro. Im the same way. Cant do country but I can do this all day. Blew me away. Wish there was more country try like this.
This song still gets a lot of time on my playlist. Thanks for checking it out!

I've had a couple of people recommend Tyler Childers now. I'll definitely be sure to check them out!
Jason Isbell"If we were vampires" will get your attention
Yes! It's a great song!

I just listened to another Sturgill song “Ain’t All Flowers” and I have to say Sturgill has amazed me at his ability to transcend genre.

Let me add a third name to that list, John Moreland. I'd put Jason Isbell and Moreland as two of the best writers working today.
@@MrDavecdva Good add. Going to see Moreland in a couple of weeks

Nicholas Betrozoff exactly brotha !
I think sound and fury was a great album! Maybe in 5 or 10 years people will like it. Either way Sturgill is the man no doubt
King Krule- Dum Surfer::: please review!!
A few names that aren't pop country. John Moreland "You don't care for me enough to cry and Ryan Bingham who played Walker on Yellowstone
I've heard that first one. It's great!
why is no one doing his sound and fury film?

Yeah that seems to be the style of country that I really gravitate towards! Thanks for the comment!
Take a stab at some Marlon Craft if you step into any hip-hop vids 💪
🔥🔥🔥 Reaction 💯
I think The Avett Brother’s may be something interesting for you to check out.
Most of his (sturgill simpson) songs are a lot deeper than they appear
I’m a new sub, love your reactions, could you react to John Moreland- you don’t care for me enough to cry and Chris Knight- it ain’t easy being me?
Sure thing! I've added them to my list!

I think I'll go on Pandora and do just that. Thanks for the suggestion!
If you get a chance ... do a reaction to Aaron Lewis (formally of Staind) ... NOT pop country at all
