Hi Josh, I am from China and I agree with you completely on the final comments about the contaminations and overfishing in the South China Sea. It is a shame that things are so fucked up over there but so little is done to remedy the situation.
FYI your video is great, makes me want to visit New Zealand even more.

Nice stuff, yes I jumped on a Kina once, got a bunch of spines in my foot, pulled a few out, went to hospital, they got a few out, once it got infected they popped out no problem at all!
I remember falling on some when I was waiting on the boat for my dad to come up with some more. I fell right on a few that were laying on the boat floor and it went straight into my hand. I did go to hospital, my dad told Le me to stop fucking around and he dug out a bunch of spikes with another Kina spike. 😂.
Living in Adelaide loving it but this made me home sick I alwsys Loved Jacksons bay , Hast the west coast

When I was a kid I went diving in Kenya and got a kina spine in my hand, and this local old fella cut a lime in half and made me hold it on the wound for 15 minutes, worked a treat, I guess the acid dissolved the spine. Great video mate, good crays .

Gidday Josh. If you have ever had trouble with your fg hitting the guides on a cast(mainly casting out with a spinning rod) you should look for a tapered shock leader. They are the mutts nuts. I used to replace 3-5m worth of leader every 3 or so casts because the knot would hit the guides and the spool would keep screaming out and knot itself up. No problems now. Keep up the mean vids! Tight Lines!

Love this stuff mate such a good lifestyle. That black snail like thing is an elephant snail im pretty sure and you can age the abalone by counting the growth rings on the shell, each ring is one year! Love the videos mate

21:39, We used to catch these as kids from underneath the Sumner lifeboat slipway in CHCH. We knew them as 'Sea Slugs', dunno if theyre edible, never tried 'em.

Josh mate, those are gemfish. Cudas have that line running full way down the back from the back of there head, the gemmys are coming down from central back. Easiest way to tell between the two, gemfish are also a bit deeper through the middle and like you said have no worms! Chur

Hey Josh. That fish you saw in the creek was a Giant kokopu. These fish are really rare and they say they could become extinct due to the catching of whitebait. Read the new New Zealand national geogrphic.
Cheers Jakson. Yeah I think that article is a bit misleading. We had some massive runs of bait on the west coast this year and there are heaps of these giant kokopu in our creeks. They maybe endangered in some spots in the North Island due to intensive farming but no shortage on the west coast. That article and all the posts popping up on facebook are possibly scaremongering by DOC, before they put a ban on whitebait or even worse, put a quota on it so the corporates can make even more money. huru!
