  • We made a quick 24-hour stop in Detroit, MI and just our luck would have it we arrived on a day when the Belle Isle Conservatory (Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory)-which may be the oldest conservatory in the U.S. (to be debated)-was closed to the public-but open to 'Plant One On Me'. Enjoy this private, in-depth tour of their beautiful conservatory.
When you're next in town, pay it a visit here: www.belleisleconservancy.org/

I love & miss you doing tours like this. That hibiscus/Japanese lantern, I'm surprised to see there. We have that as a hedge and I've never seen it flower until my uncle, who kept the hedge neat, suffered a debilitating stroke. Talk about finding/trading beauty with something bad. It is a very old plant that I kinda thought is endemic to my country.
And yes, the leaves of the soursop are regularly harvested here in the Phil and boil into tea for its medicinal trait, mostly by diabetics and those with kidney problems.

So excited to see some special places around Deroit pop up on your channel. Ann Arbor, MI has some equally unique features with Matthaie Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum. 😀
