I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
In my TH-cam channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Dreamer, Itineo, Rapido, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Karmann Mobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Bocklet, Woelcke,Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Murvi, Bliss, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow, Holzmobil, Giotti Line, Florium, Fleurette, Ahorn, Westfalia, Space Camper, Orange Work, Concorde, Womondo, Protec, Auto Sleeper, Dethleffs, Ilusion, Gehocab, Malibu, Pilote, Wild Ax, Vantage, Bresler, Tom's Fahrzeugtechnik, Morelo, Swift, Carado and others.
I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

This Ford Transit Camper is one of the luxury models I've seen on the market so far
This is the future for me..keep up the good work…
Alan,
You forgot to answer the two most important questions about an electric Motorhome 1. What’s the range on a fully charged battery. 2. What’s the payload? Usually the weight of the battery wipes out the payload. Remember that probably most of the people who would buy an electric Motorhome will be younger buyers who are limited to an MTOLM of 3500 kg.
You also forgot to criticise the small sink and shower drains, or is that only a problem when they are fitted to a Knaus or Weinsberg🤣🤣
I wanted this to be an introduction Jeremy as I planned on taking it out for a test drive but that did not work out due to my time constraints. The range is said to be 300km but I doubt it in this case. I don't know what the payload is However I would point out that whereas the batteries are heavy, so is fuel and an electric motor is lighter than a diesel motor. So the difference is not as bad as is often made out to be.
I need to do a video on weight.
Small plugs are always a problem, irrespective of the manufacturer.
I work for a company that builds buses. Both electric and diesel. An electric powered engine is heavier than a diesel engine. The electric buses are just for the cities where the charging hubs ( in the bus depot are near ) when you see coaches taking people on distant holidays then you know the range issues have been sorted. Believe me that's quite some years.
Great to see the future
I don't agree with pure electric for living. I've done a study and it doesn't make sense. My 3 way fridge uses 3 times the power of a compressor fridge. My 5kWh battery goes to 50% during the night and I recharge from external solar cells in the day time.
However, my 2 x 15 kg gas bottles could run the fridge for 2 to 3 months. That's why there's no comparison.
I also don't think it is possible but there is something you might have overlooked with the fridge. A 3 way fridge uses much more electric power than a dedicated compressor fridge - but the latter makes much more noise.
@@VanlifewithAlan I said it uses 3 times more power. That's according to the spec sheets from Dometic for identically sized fridges 133l
@@thevanthatrocked Sorry, you are right, I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that - only to confirm what you had written!
Fossil fuels are a finite resource, and so all electric will have to become feasible soon.
This something new maker
Is that the only new electric campervan in the Salon this year? I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of offerings especially the ones taking advantage of electric propulsion. This is just an off the shelf transit electric with a normal conversion .
Irridium had a couple of electrics, I think Burstner had one - there might have been a couple more which I have forgotten.
I like the finish and I like the layout which I almost never say about drop down beds. Pity we couldn’t see it with the bed down (although I’m not likely to be a customer so it’s a bit academic).
I was planning on taking it out for a test drive then I needed to be somewhere else quickly so that put a stop to that one! Otherwise, you would have seen the bed down!
Love the layout and I like the Ford too. Is Anything in this layout available in the uk Alan ?
Not that I am aware of Sue, however with the LEZ problem and the enormous fines, I should think that there will be soon!
We love your videos Alan. We’re hoping to buy a motorhome, either A or B class in 3 years time. Do you think or know if more electric models will be available then? We love the Carthago C line, any ideas if they might produce motor homes on an electric base?
I like to tell viewers good things but in this case I can't. There is no chance that the Carthago C Line will be electric and the chances of anything else are small indeed. There will be increasingly more vehicles like this one but this is really a one off, I doubt they built more than one. Hymer have said that they will build motorhomes once a range of 500km is reached, however they do have the Burstner E-van on the Ford Transit. As much as it pains me to write this, I think the logical choice for you would be diesel, have a look at some classic motorhomes from Carthago from the first decade of this century!
Saludos de un fiel seguidor de tú canal, excelente video 👍 mi like para ti..
Muchas gracias Patricio!
Nice van and a good quality interior, but 300klms for 120K is crazy.. Campervan/motorhomes are built for distance travelling and it will be many years(i woukd say a decade at least before range is suitable. Never mind the Charger anxiety which i have seen in the uk whilst out and about. Sorry, but DieselEcoHybrid is the future. Electy to start and in city built up areas & EcoDiesel for Long journey/fast fill up…weight and temperatures will vastly reduce Electric range too!!!!
I'll give it another decade & see how thing are then! Van life's for pleasure not bankruptcy & worry.
That is a good answer!
Does this van have a website? I couldn't find one.
Range? Charging kW speed?
I've seen loads of campervan videos where men demonstrate how much headroom there is, but not ONE of them tells you how tall they are!! So how is someone who's 6'4" know whether they'd have to bow their head the whole time?
You can't have seen many of my videos then - I constantly repeat how tall I am.
@@VanlifewithAlan Well, that's not very helpful to the person who watches this video!
Can you please share a link to the company.
www.umbau-spezialist.de You could speak to Jessica who speaks good English if necessary : +49 6721 30860 13
come on bro what range
The trick will be electric underfloor heating.
Not possible as yet Roger - unless one is on hook up.
How tall are you?
175 cm or 5ft 10in.
They'll never take off 129000 for a transit camper 😂
What does 'take off' mean? Sell 1,000, 10,000 - how many do you think it requires?
@@VanlifewithAlan they won't sell.many I don't know how many they expect to sell you could have a full size motorhome for far less than that a one with a proper engine
E-sprinter is 86K; local upfit associated w dealer is 15-25K
Silly price
id probly have to chargie that thing 9 times or more taking it from florida to virginia.... hard pass for me
It would take me ages to get from Florida to Virginia anyway - but then again, I like to stop everywhere!
@@VanlifewithAlan that's different though you're purposefully stopping check out the sights make camp do whatever. Most giant electric vehicles like that only get 200 or so miles per charge and then you're going to have to sit there and wait to fully charge that thing up probably about another two or so hours being bored to death. You can't turn anything on in the RV while it's being charged cuz you'll drain the battery.... I just feel like it would be a disaster
@@markshumaker4135 The bit about turning on is a good point. I think the cooker and heating need to be gas.
Maybe stopping regularly and waiting to charge is the small price to pay for not destroying the world.
@@andrewj22 the problem there is that to many fake vids are out saying ''oh it only costs $10 to charge my car to full'' oh its only $20 to charge my car from 30% to full... its a lie... the brave ones finally came out an made vids from start to finish an average price was more than a 12 gallon tank of mid grade gas ... 1 guy was at 12% waited an hour to be able to charge an when he was able to it took 48 minutes an cost him $160..... again... hard pass if im gonna not only have to wait forever to charge it an then it takes just as long an is double what my car is... nope ... an 8 hour ride now turns into 14 hours
