300 mile is great. I rented a car with 300 mile range and it was good. If you stop at fast charge station you can charge 80 percent of it in 30 to 45 mins giving you another 200 mile range. You will save a ton of money considering how much you use on traditional rv gas motor home.

If you are travelling and are always at home in your rv, what difference does the range make? What is the rush?? I think 300 miles is plenty of driving. That's 6 hours. Time for a break anyway!

300 mile range in ideal scenarios. What is the range when you are towing? How about if you need to run a heater or the air conditioner? Now let's talk about things such as climbing mountains, or bucking a headwind.
All of that takes away from the range the same as it does with an internal combustion engine powered RV.

The F150 lightning, which I think would be a blast to own, has a 300 mile range. Motor Trend tested the best Lightning available with multiple trailers from 3100lbs to 7200lbs and found they could barely make 100miles.

Love, love the modern design style (and purple is my fav)! The range is perfect (for me that wouldn't want to drive more than 5-6 hours at a time). It's actually a great application of a "range extender" fuel cell, my guess is likely hydrogen fueled. I prefer all electric cars but this could be good for RVs when you want the extra range vs. adding tons to the cost for extra batteries you might seldom actually use. I love the privacy windows vs. curtains, the drawer frig/freezers and combo mic/convection oven. When I see induction cook tops I always wish they would stow away making more counter space when you aren't cooking. Love the murphy bed addition. It always amazes me that a whole bedroom of space is used in a limited space RV. I'd even love it the beds lifted to the ceiling opening up space during the day.
Excited to see this come to market!

They should consider a pull out cover for the moon roof that doubles as a solar panel, that way when the sun is at its highest and you need shade, you could also charge the battery! Love the styling and direction this is going. What would the range be pulling a medium sized two axle trailer?

Excellent tour and summary of this intriguing concept. We looked at the outside while there in Tampa, but the line was too long to tour it. IMHO, cost will likely exceed $250K if it ever comes to market. btw, it's not a camper van. This is a medium sized Class C as the house is added onto a cutaway chassis. Nicely integrated in the same way Leisure Travel Van Class Cs are. Per the RVIA Class B camper vans are built inside the van shell as provided by the automotive manufacturer.

300 miles means in a not-so-perfect day such as mountain climbs with a lot of air conditioning etc, you could be reduced to maybe 200 miles. Still very doable. As time goes on, there are more and more charging stations and with apps like ChargePoint and PlugShare, you'll always know where you can stop next to top off. I'd expect inside of 5 years, it will be normal to have chargers at most restaurants and other places where you normally stop. It's already getting that way here in California. The days of 9 MPG and $5.00+ fuel is drawing to an end. This is a very good start!

Well done as always! I keep thinking there are only so many sources for the components and chemicals needed for these EV just like our current ones. Eventually resources material will be an issue between demands and building infrastructure are we really decreasing energy demands? Or am I over thinking it?

I think NACS/Supercharger should be the charging standard they pick (since literally everyone is going NACS), and 300mi of range on the lower end should be fine. I think most of my Vanlifing would be along some coastal/beach area anyway. 500 miles would be a no-brainer, but we might have to wait for better battery tech to get there.

I think it has a purpose. 300 won’t do it for me especially since we like to take all back roads and avoid interstates. Every small town we pass through has some gas station but no EV center. Not yet anyway. One day maybe. We can’t even get Rv manufactures to put lithium packages in yet besides a few. Not even an option with some. It’s getting better slowly. The manufacturer we are looking at recently polled the Facebook group about options, lithium being one. Hope they move on it, I suggested Volta. Great video 👍🏼

300 hundred miles of range is ok…. I have a VW AWD ID.4…. The range could be better but is doable with patience… I went on a cross country winter trip trip out West, in my ID.4, just in January-March 2023… the infrastructure is out there and I had a blast… the car performed great…
Definitely will be in the market soon for an EV RV… can’t imagine going back to gas vehicle… Also, will be much, much cheaper to operate for the foreseeable future…. Very efficient, less moving parts, my EV is amazing!!! Yes it does take some thinking to get a system down, but now I have no range anxiety and such… it’s just very nice!!!

It would take days to charge the battery. And add the solar panels, which is extra weight, extra power needed to move the vehicle, etc. It would be have to have one or two to power some of the electronics when parked. That would help reduce the amount of time charging.

  • @fnordpol
    @fnordpol 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

300 Miles or 500-600 km are useable, even though it could be more you can still travel 1000 km in about 18 hours with fast charging. It is a compromise between cost efficiency and range, and yes compared to those fuel guzzelers it is a step back, but it can be estimated that in a few years, you can drive around cheaply and you keep the environment you want to enjoy in the condition it is. The german company electricbrands by the way is building a cheaper smaller "rv" called X-Bus which is also scheduled for 2024 which is taking advantage of a european lightweight vehicle regulation (side by side buggy). I cant wait for mine even though I so does not need one.

It’s like a Jetson’s camper! Many RVers try to keep travel days short anyway, so 300 miles seems possible. And then how long before it is charged and ready to go another 300? Are changing stations within every 300 miles? Cool idea. Not sure about the layout. But it is nice the RV industry is innovating. Thanks for sharing. 🚐

Thanks for watching Tara! Really cool to see a lot of the different innovative components. Hoping to see some of these in RVs and vans down the line.

I read somewhere that charging stations/companies/government are aiming for one every 50 miles, basically blanketing the country like gas stations. It's a process though. It'll be done before a true RV concept hits the road for real.

3000 miles range would mean that if you want to go to a far far away place there would need to be a destination level 2 or 3 charger at the end of the road and a way to check in advance before you go that the charger is working too!

300 mile is good enough for a more laid back attitude on the vacation.
It may render in a couple of more nights at new places you never knew you would visit and you may very well like those unplanned places.

400 mile range would be better, especially here in Canada. Beautiful looking though. Fuel cell likely powered by natural gas, with the H2 product being used to generate extra electricity for the batteries/electric motors.

Isn't the moon roof going to make you use all of your electricity on HVAC, thereby dramatically reducing the range? It is stunning and I'm so glad we're getting closer to an electric RV!

My main concern about the RV life, is most campers do not have the bathroom area in Handicapped level, a ADA toilet has a height of 17 inches at seat level. anything before that makes it hard to get up.

It does look fantastic but from a pragmatic stand point it's a bit gimmicky. All those pop up mechanism and frosted glass probably means heavier weight than a standard counter part, and the induction cook top uses electric as well, so not sure how these factor plays out with the electric range. And yes, definitely need a solar roof that can help put a little juice back in the battery while in the campground. Probably be wise to leave room for a gas/propane generator just to have some back up ranges for quick recovery to a nearby charging station.

It's a one size fits few design. This van layout needs to be a modular build with replaceable sections so people can create their own layout that would fit their own personal needs. But my guess is the company's target market is retired, people with money who will take it to lux campgrounds. Not my kind of camping that's for sure.

300 Miles is ok-ish. 5 hours of driving... its time for a break if you have access to a Level 3 charger. Have a meal... take a nap! If your destination is powered campground with 30/50A/240V that would be acceptable. However, "dry camping" it would need a full size solar roof with solar awnings on both sides! Or your just going to need to bring a generator!
