Travis when I was still in high school I worked for AAMCO transmission in South Florida as a r&r guy, you went home every night covered in the transmission fluid. I can tell you I was hating my life at that time! So when I see you tearing apart a transmission I can tell you it gives me the heebie-jeebies just watching you I've done a few valve bodies but I've never done a complete transmission and probably never will. But you're my friend you and your father are amazing. Wanting to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a far better new year to come. Probably a good thing dad showed up when he did!😂
I appreciate you showing your mistakes, that said, I seen something you can ask your dad as he sounds knowledgeable. I presoaked all of my parts like the bands and steels in trays and let them drip off as it is messy but if your doing several a week like I did, then time kills most shops as they struggle. I made all most all of my tools for alignments insides of clutches and shafts so it just sat together. I made a jig for the transmission case so I could rotate it on my table... no climbing and dropping stuff (it happens and most generally never hurts anything but occasionally a seal will get pinched and there goes the whole build if you don't catch it. I worked for a axle rebuild shop and we also did transmissions and transfer cases. I started building auto transmissions in late fifties and now seventy five. In a bit of time you see yourself building a transmission like this in just a few hours... I forget book time but I could always outrun them.
Hey Travis, there’s a great channel called precision transmission, they show some of the most detailed tear downs and, the guy Trent shows what goes wrong and shows what he uses to make them solid units.
Bravo on the instructions part. Yesterday I tore apart my 1975 Stihl 028Av-Super without knowing anything about where it went whatever. Everything turned out fine since most of the stuff kinda only went in one spot, and most of the bolts were the same. Great video!
Good thing Rick turned up to persuade you to replace that bushing Travis ! You two amaze me. Shows what you can fix with common tools and common sense . 🌵
I’ve done everyone on Brit engines: leaded bearings, ported heads, machined blocks, rebuilt rads etc but never an auto. Always sent to a specialist. Now I remember why. Great work!
i really enjoyed the video thanks for sharing my comments were made from years of building those transmissions not saying you did anything wrong i just do differently so please don't get upset
Best part of the video is mentioning the time investments and making mistakes. You always see these trans rebuilds and they make it seem like it takes 4hours.
Well done Travis. I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Keep the great content coming. I can't wait to see what kind of a body you come up with for this build.
Love the fact that you save old American Iron I also like Cummings turbo diesels I watched a video last night from a channel called restored they got a 1940s International truck running and they put Sinclair Oil signage on it I figured you would find that interesting since you love gas station memorabilia
The exhaust manifold I would have held off until you have a body, you might need a forward/mid or rear turbo flange outlet depending on the engine bay configuration of the new body.
I don’t recall seeing bushings in the rebuild kit or whether you replaced them in this transmission. I noticed the 6 pinion rear planetary, possibly an upgrade from the standard 4 pinion planetary. 😅
Did you pull front cover to bullitt proof the killer dowell. Thats going to be a monster by the snapiness of throttle response. Did your dad find out what that Indiana diesel that he sold, that caused all the oil leaking? Have a nice Holiday. Were up in Greenland catching lots of cold wind.
Hello Travis, I have a love for the 68 to 72 F100 and the 95 & 96 F150. Do you happen across many of them in good condition? I reside in Maryland and most found in this region are rust buckets.
Good video as always thank you kindly. I was wondering if you could rebuild my transmission. I would pay for it and you to. It's a 1996 Ford ranger 3.0 engine. If not no problem still a big fan.
did you check clearances and not show most people don't worry about it the ats book shows how to set the clearance i made several sets of tools to check clearances especially on the OD because one clutch applies and the other releases if the clearance isn't correct sloppy od shift
Only immature as fuck for stating shit like that out! 1. Nobody cares, not even your mother! Did she kiss you on the butt after that amazing achievement? 2. Being number 1, 10, 100 or 1000 gives you nothing at all. 3. Did you win anything else but a bigger EGO? 4. Not even a seven year old child, finds that shit funny! 5. Ppl found that shit funny back in 2019^^

Yeah it got kinda hairy I hope I did it all right lol.

I love the banter between your dad and yourself.

Yeah, great channel, nice people.
Excellent work there - a comprehensive and useful guide for the community. The Father/Son combo knocks it outta the park... again!
Very good explanation of how a transmission works. You did a great job!
Watching on my tv so wanted to make sure I liked your video!
I wait patiently every week for you to put out a video, there my favorite thing to watch on TH-cam, keep up the hard work👍🏼
Great channel T! Showing the way things work is very interesting. You’re a great teacher.Your dad brings a lot of knowledge also. Thanks for sharing.

I’m going to have this playing in the background while I work with my grandpa
Good thing Rick turned up to persuade you to replace that bushing Travis ! You two amaze me. Shows what you can fix with common tools and common sense . 🌵
You guys worked well sorting out the trans.
I’ve done everyone on Brit engines: leaded bearings, ported heads, machined blocks, rebuilt rads etc but never an auto. Always sent to a specialist. Now I remember why. Great work!
Brit engines are rubbish
You can make art with broken truck parts
I appreciate you explaining how the various parts of the transmission function as you disassembled the transmission.
You do an excellent job at explaining things!
I absolutely love your channel. Say hey to your dad for me he seem really cool to hang out with. Your very lucky.
i love how you teach how to build this trans
Waw Travis, you make it all look easy. Well done!
Well done really enjoyed this episode.
You got caught just in time....😂
Keep on the good work Travis...
All the best from France!
I like the home made spring compressor. Good job. I hope you get a cool body to set on top.
A good tool to use when installing lip seals is a set of filler gages. Transmission fluid mixed with STP.😊
Dad and that ever watchful eye lol. Keep up the good work.👍🏻
Thanks for another , Brother !
i really enjoyed the video thanks for sharing my comments were made from years of building those transmissions not saying you did anything wrong i just do differently so please don't get upset
Very impressive work man! 😄💪🏻
Great job, very interesting.
Great to see you take dads word as one takes it of the word of God. LOL😊
Nice job!
Best part of the video is mentioning the time investments and making mistakes. You always see these trans rebuilds and they make it seem like it takes 4hours.
Heck no this took like over a week I think that’s having all the parts and no hard parts broken or destroyed.
Your channel is a source of inspiration and enjoyment. Keep it up, you're doing a great job!💄💐♣️
Well done that Man 💯
the snap ring you removed from intermediate shaft where the planatary gears were comes in different thickness to set up the clearance on the setup
hope you cleaned every thing good
Well done Travis. I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Keep the great content coming. I can't wait to see what kind of a body you come up with for this build.
Merry Christmas you will know when I know

I'm wrong your working on. A 95. 47.👌
The last thing that removed with the roller bearing is called the spring and roller.
Nice job sir Nice show sir 😃👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍😍
the od does come off you just have to use a pry bar to help you get it off the parking pall is hard to release without help
There's a snap ring hidden under a rectangle plate held by two phillips screw.😊
The exhaust manifold I would have held off until you have a body, you might need a forward/mid or rear turbo flange outlet depending on the engine bay configuration of the new body.
we all ways add 3 more springs i use 3 small c clamps to remove the plate. adding 3 more springs makes it release faster better shifts
Süper video
i keep old intermediate shafts cut off to help align the od setup hard to do without a line up shaft
unless you installed the fill in park valve you still need to fill in neutral
I don’t recall seeing bushings in the rebuild kit or whether you replaced them in this transmission. I noticed the 6 pinion rear planetary, possibly an upgrade from the standard 4 pinion planetary. 😅
most all transmissions came with just 4 clutches going to 5 is a upgrade
Late 60's -72' Dodge truck body
Did you pull front cover to bullitt proof the killer dowell. Thats going to be a monster by the snapiness of throttle response. Did your dad find out what that Indiana diesel that he sold, that caused all the oil leaking? Have a nice Holiday. Were up in Greenland catching lots of cold wind.
Hi Travis how is everything going?
yes it will come out it stays connected to valve body and pops off in the od unit done it many times
Great video! Just wondering what the total hours invested, start to finish to do the rebuilt?
👍👍👍👍
some of the factory bushings didn't have the dimples
Looks like a 727 with an overdrive.
That’s what they are

Hey Travis, did you ever figure out what was causing the lumpy idle?
👌🏼⛽️✔️
Ext cab 1st gen dually?

at 39.39 mistake made you didn't align the splines where the spring goes
did you check clearances and not show most people don't worry about it the ats book shows how to set the clearance i made several sets of tools to check clearances especially on the OD because one clutch applies and the other releases if the clearance isn't correct sloppy od shift
filter looks like a slice of cheese
🤯😳
Travish detunes engines "650" hp 😂
