Another good reason to care about 5.25" bays is if you want to use them for extra HDD mounting - not 3.5" disks, but 2.5" ones. You can get really cool 5.25" caddies for 4x normal or 6x thin 2.5" disks, with fans or whatever, and I have a few of them all together as a big ghetto ZFS pool. Cheap to run, too, since it's all 2.5" disks!
I use one of my second machines 5.25" bays for a hot swap tray for un-Windows'ing broken partitions, quick transferring of data and the like, it's pretty handy and it's always there, unlike my sata data to USB cables that disappear into the abyss and I find months later after I've bought another.

Thank you Dawid, this is video is correcting my absolutely SHOOK emotional state! Ha now with that said, I genuinely am happy you did this because with an aging I5and GTX 1060, it’s probably fair to say that this computer only has a few years left in it for practical use. Seeing you getting it working in tiptop condition makes me happy as in this PC won’t be e-waste just yet, but throwing a bunch of new parts at it even when the old parts are still usable does indeed seem counterintuitive to the purpose of a PC like this one. With that said if it was upgraded to a 4790 and maxed out on ram (yes I seen you sneak those two sticks away) you could make the argument for having a few more years of life and blurring the line on the case (of which I thought you were closing thoughts made sense on). But that 240 aio Will still likely last to the end of this PCs life at this point and if it were to fail a cheap air cooler would probably make more sense in a system like this one. Great video!
That is very true! It does really seem like these i5s are getting close to the end of the road. I do have a counter argument though. 😁 Considering the current market, you could buy the case, PSU and cooler you want. Salvage one of these old dirty systems, then once core components become more available you replace the i5 and so on. Thanks for the comment. 👍

That is an EVGA CLC 240 AIO. I actually have the exact same one in my PC. It keeps my 10900k cool just fine and works flawlessly. I purchased it just 8 months ago. So I’d say that AIO is not that old at all and was well worth spraying off in a sink and salvaging Dawid!
I really aenjoyed this video has i have the same exact case that a bit dirty also. I retired it to the spare bedroom floor while I moved to a new open glass case. So the case sits abandoned. But now as a result of your video I am going to build it back up and give it to a friend that needs a desktop PC. So thankyou for this presentation. You're quality of content is amazing!!! As a tech myself, I always enjoy your videos. I love the humor and honesty of it all. I hope to one day make quality videos too. Guys like you are an inspiration.
If you owned a power washer, that would have been the tool for the job for cleaning the AIO radiator and the perforated front panel more easily. Even a garden hose would have probably worked, just needed something with some pressure behind it to blow all the grime out.
For rly grimy cases I usually just.. shower them lol. nice warm water and some foamy-soapy stuff can do wonders. That being said, takes a while for them to dry, so if you don't have much time, not a good option.
Thanks Dawid for completing the previous video with this follow up. I wasn't expecting this video but it all worked out well. Your right tho, the last video wasn't a how to clean your pc, but that was something I was missing and didn't feel like a complete video, I'm glad you cleaned it and put it back together and explained to everyone why you did what you did. You still make great content and love your video's. you do you man :). My previous comment in previous video was meant for constructive criticism, and not to put you down. I may have not liked that one video but there are many more from you to come. Keep up the good work...and stop taking naps mid-take haha.
I know this is an old video but when I had that case I actually put the fans as a pull on the outside of the case. That will allow for clearance of the ram. I'm going back through all Dawid's videos as I just found him on here. Fun stuff!
+WayStedYou, writes _"You should get a full on air compressor. They have way more power than those single or small use cans too."_ They also don't store air as a liquid so you don't risk freezing things and damage them. They do have a lot more power and can rip components off a board, but that can be easily avoided just by keeping the nozzle a little way form the board. Add in the fact that they simply move a tone more air and they work much, much better.
That AIO looks like the $10 pink Apevia case I got last week off of marketplace. I took all the fans out and the USB/Switch panel and then hosed it down in the bathtub. Looks new now. Love your videos...
Sweet! Thanks for fixing the system up! It is so much better now! I actually like that case design. I agree with you about the newer cases having easier cable management. I suppose Cooler Master wasn't so concerned with it on this design due to it not having a window... Back in the day we didn't worry about cable management so much because the case itself hit all the wires with opaque side panels. Now it is somewhat difficult to find cases without windows.
There's actually a lot of things can fit into 5.25inch drive bays than just optical drives. I have 2 Blu-ray writers drives, an LTO tape drive, and a media card reader + USB 3.0 expansion. Although I don't use Blu-ray drive that often, thinking of pulling 1 out and fit a USB-C expansion or maybe fan controllers or RGB controllers. Actually, if we can find ways to utilised the drive bays, it is very useful. I'm also looking for ways to cram a small LCD screen so you can use it to monitor your system temperature and what not. Now, sadly, 2 5.25 inch drive bay cases are rare, 4 bays no longer exist.
I forgot to mention this on the last video, that evga cooler is a great cooler because of the fans, don't replace them. Check out the gamers nexus video on it. Also that cooler came out in 2018 I believe, I have owned one, so it's not that old and not likely to fail anytime soon probably.
this is my favorite video of yours ever. i didn't comment on part 1, but was disappointed and slightly put off. i'm so glad you did a part 2; it didn't disappoint and your authenticity in the closing statement was endearing.
I think you should get a few similar pcs maybe office workstations(to keep em the same) And clean one with just compress air and the other with wet cleaner. As in my experience the air compressor / can of air. is kind of king and you never want to get them wet because it sticks the gunk down. Also a tip after using water on electronics rinse them after with alcohol they will displace the water then it dry quicker and you have a good indicator as to when there safe to use aka when alcohol smell goes away,
Dawid, your videos are not the long drawn out talking about nothing that we care about. I like the length of your videos being near that 10 minute mark, and appreciate your humor. Keep up the good work.
Yo Dawid, Just want to pass on a few tips for next time as i get these dusty PC's quite often, 1. Never wet the dust. 2. Forget the toothbrush idea for fans 3. Buy a wide range of paintbrushes 4. Use all of those brushes vigorously on everything whilst outdoors. 5. Then use compressed air/cans 6. Use contact spray and microfibre cloths to finish. 7. Bob's your Jimmy, all done.
That EVGA all-in-one cooler is at least a gen2 or gen3 Asetek unit. That was when they went with the tubes out of the middle of the pump block. It's probably two to three years old already.
I worked for a school district. We would take the computers outside and blow all the dust and crap out of them with an air compressor each summer. Keyboards too. It was fast and it really worked well.
The reason all of the grime and dirt/dust won't scrub/vacuum or rinse off is due to the stickness from smoke. Spray the radiator with some 99% isopropyl over a sink, wait a min or so and rinse thoroughly w/ warm water.
Based solely on Other Content, a dishwasher cleaning would have worked for the case and cooler. Provided one had a few days to let everything dry/drip out. For those of us who don't have access to ultrasonic cleaners and the like. And the parts would be nicely scented.

I loved both videos, and the upgrades in the first video were great! But there is something even more satisfying about watching the entire pc being cleaned and shown at the best it can be again. Either way, great videos, both of them.
Exactly !
i think the alcohol wipe from the first video clumped it into that radiator grease fisrt. the vaaccum might have worked better before when its drier
the dvd bays are useful for other things, like you coulf put in a card reader, usb hub built directly into the front of the case, hot swap hard drives, etc. I like having those bays.
5:11 is the RAM in the wrong slots? Or is this mobo 1&3 config rather than 2&4?
Also aren't those radiator holes for a rad with 140mm fans? The inner holes look like spacing for 120s?
That's exactly it, fair mistake, but hard do watch xD
Thank you for your service Dawid, we appreciate you and your antics almost as much as Anna does ❤
Almost 😍
I'm so pleased he turned the negative feedback into a new video, this was awesome! Thank you Dawid, enjoyed this one!
Just started watching your videos a few days ago. Gotta admit I was one of those that was disappointed you didn't really "clean" the craigslist pc (although I didn't post a comment about it though) but I gotta say you jumped to my list of top youtubers to watch because you listened to your viewer's feedback and delivered! Respect
No need to apologize dude. You're 100% right about that new case, it looks waaaay better.
Now just need to get a reasonable board and CPU for the friend that doesnt break my budget.
You're quality of content is amazing!!!
As a tech myself, I always enjoy your videos.
I love the humor and honesty of it all.
I hope to one day make quality videos too. Guys like you are an inspiration.
Thank you for following thru with it.😁
David's videos are the only ones I have consistently watched during the current pc partpacolypse.
You’re the reason I haven’t sold all my pc gaming stuff yet, earned a sub
That's very kind of you! Thanks for the sub, and I hope you keep enjoying you PC. 😊
I know this is an old video but when I had that case I actually put the fans as a pull on the outside of the case. That will allow for clearance of the ram. I'm going back through all Dawid's videos as I just found him on here. Fun stuff!
This is the PC case I use from 2012 (if not mistaken). It is a great case! In terms of cleaning I use a hairdryer (on the cold setting).
You should get a full on air compressor.
They have way more power than those single or small use cans too.
+WayStedYou, writes _"You should get a full on air compressor. They have way more power than those single or small use cans too."_
They also don't store air as a liquid so you don't risk freezing things and damage them.
Best way to clean radiators if ofc... the kitchen sink. It doesn't harm it at all. Just use regular soap and hot water.. even let it soak if need be.
Cleanliness is next to Godliness.
I like the 70s car chase music during the cleaning.
I've never been super entertained while watching a cleaning video before, but you can make an exception for this one, good job dawid.
With really dust radiators I find the best approach is drop them into a bucket of warm soapy water for a few hours, then rinse under a tap.
0:25 my exact reaction when you said you were going to throw away the power supply because it was dusty
Dawid: using expensive compressed air when a desk fan/space heater from home would do the job.
😅
I have that case from my old PC so thanks for the enthousiastic cleaning guide.
this is my favorite video of yours ever. i didn't comment on part 1, but was disappointed and slightly put off. i'm so glad you did a part 2; it didn't disappoint and your authenticity in the closing statement was endearing.
I think you should get a few similar pcs maybe office workstations(to keep em the same) And clean one with just compress air and the other with wet cleaner. As in my experience the air compressor / can of air. is kind of king and you never want to get them wet because it sticks the gunk down.
Also a tip after using water on electronics rinse them after with alcohol they will displace the water then it dry quicker and you have a good indicator as to when there safe to use aka when alcohol smell goes away,
You can tell that Dyson vacuum is the gaming version. Its also good they don't allow you to install the brush backwards.
Dawid, your videos are not the long drawn out talking about nothing that we care about. I like the length of your videos being near that 10 minute mark, and appreciate your humor. Keep up the good work.
Yo Dawid, Just want to pass on a few tips for next time as i get these dusty PC's quite often,
1. Never wet the dust.
2. Forget the toothbrush idea for fans
3. Buy a wide range of paintbrushes
4. Use all of those brushes vigorously on everything whilst outdoors.
5. Then use compressed air/cans
I have to respect someone who actually goes through with something like this. Passive aggressive or not I tip my hat to you good sir.
I worked for a school district. We would take the computers outside and blow all the dust and crap out of them with an air compressor each summer. Keyboards too. It was fast and it really worked well.
At last, my soul is complete. Thanks for the update, Dawid. (Or "thanks for the updawid" for short)
Hilarious that people complained about you not deep cleaning the pc but we did get a good video out of it.
this should turn into a series, but the next time don't forget to benchmark the pc before cleaning it ;)
This
I think you finding older, misused and abused PC's, and showing you partially upgrade and clean what's important would be some primo footage.
god that pc case went from a weird black box I would find at my grandparents, to an actual pc case, great job Dawid!
Damn, Anna went full HAM on Dawid.
You did sort of give us all epididymal hypertension.
Learning new more efficient and effective cleaning methods allow you to do both and stay in algorithms
That's what I need to do is a good disassembly and cleaning of my case. I have an old Sentry Arvina GS-6400B full tower case. Should be interesting.
The reason all of the grime and dirt/dust won't scrub/vacuum or rinse off is due to the stickness from smoke. Spray the radiator with some 99% isopropyl over a sink, wait a min or so and rinse thoroughly w/ warm water.
Over a year late but, try the product called armor shield. It is a ceramic coating for car plastics. It works great on black PC cases!
Based solely on Other Content, a dishwasher cleaning would have worked for the case and cooler. Provided one had a few days to let everything dry/drip out. For those of us who don't have access to ultrasonic cleaners and the like. And the parts would be nicely scented.
