Team Mace return with a completely new type of robot in Gemini - a clusterbot. Can respected Third Wars competitors Berserk 2 or newcomers Tornado threaten the troubling twins?
InvertiBrat actually had some decent kick in that little milling cutter of theirs. I doubt it would have won even if it hadn’t of gotten stuck, but I think it would have given Gemini a more decent fight.
It was still pretty slow in series 3. I think they're deliberately driving slower in this, because there's a few moments where it seems to be driving at exactly the same speed as series 3 before slowing down.
Tornado, in a way, were reminiscent of Road Block, the very first champions of Robot Wars. No actual weaponry, but the robot was so well engineered and the drivers knew what to do with that.
Newly appreciated love for tornado, such a clever design, hugely compact means there's so little to go wrong, and with the pure power, of those motors, they knew what to do and they did it
I like how they the new series have changed the rules for cluster bots, instead of half immobilised meaning completely out. Allows for more original engineering ideas which for a lot people is likely an appealing factor for watching the show.
Here's a question regarding Tornado, well in fact all invertible robots and axlebots in general. Whenever a robot with an aforementioned design is flipped upside down, does the driver virtually need to move the joysticks into reverse drive in order for the robot to run forward, vice-versa, and the same with left+right turns? Or alternatively, are some invertible robots' drive systems and/or transmitters fitted with a special switch of some kind, that allows them to run upside down in the same manner when they're controlled in the upright position?
some transmitters let you program a switch that reverses the controls, but most people just practice driving upside down. i run a pistol radio for my bots so i dont need to worry about it since theonly part that gets reversed when the bot flips over is forwards/backwards
this was a great heat because gemini came in as the rightful favorite and they were upset by a great robot that came out of nowhere. The final was great and the right robot won
Well that first fight was quite something, what a change from Heat E, Tornado took off like a rocket, Gemini got good flips on Katerkiller and Tornado (which promptly proved it works equally well either way up) - that's two really good bots (well three if you count Gemini as two :). And Tornado instantly gained my undying esteem by pushing Shunt around. The second fight was - more a question of whether *any* of the bots would still be working by the end of it. Not so much due to enemy action, as sheer uselessness. Invertabrat was showing more life *after* the house thugbots mauled it, than the other two. First semifinal, Gemini's flippers worked well, at least against a rather immobile lump like the Creature. And the pair got a nice OOTA. That was quick. The final - that was a great fight. Gemini got in some great flips on Tornado. But Tornado is the quintessential reversible bot - does it even have a 'right side up'? Or a 'front' and 'back' for that matter? And a very tough bot to damage. And for once the house bots didn't even get to interfere.
Tornado woah i think this robot is like speed of king buxton brute force of robot the bruce. Oh Tornado nearly drove shunt into the pit wow totally dangerous...until it drove itself into the pit of oblivion. Must have had too much fun even the tornado team were laughing at their whoops moment.
I'm up for whatever, to be honest. So far, I've done the two series that were most in demand, so I'll see at the time, but it'd certainly seem logical to upload Series 3 next
Clusterbots. basically, there are advantages and disadvantages, just like with walkers. clusterbots split their weight, but if one bot is immobilised, the entire thing is counted as such. can be good, can... not.
Because they halve their power for a numerical advantage. Each robot requires motors, batteries, mechanical components and in this case, a CO2 canister and they have halve the weight restriction of every other robot to fit it all in, in addition, since they need to fit all the components in each robot, they have to use a lighter armour. Each robot also has less overall power than the competition, but the advantage is that when one is in trouble, it has some help in the arena. But they need to work twice as hard to make it count when every robot is twice as heavy. It's like putting a couple of lightweight boxers against a heavyweight, when one is immobilized, they both are. It's always a gamble.
Weird to see the hate for Tornado when Steg was so beloved last war: They're both robots designed to win on brute strength and makes for interesting battles. Much better than seeing yet another boring Cassius clone (*cough* Firestorm *cough*)
I think the reason why is that Steg was always a plucky underdog that somehow got to the Grand Final. Tornado was a little bit too good at what it did, was genuinely a top tier robot and obviously won one series (in highly controversial fashion).
"clusterbot, what a great idea, this could be the start of a new era in robot wars" *hears about the 50% immobilised= out rule* "oh, so a 100kg robot only has to beat a 50kg robot to win? oh well, was a nice idea while it lasted" no wonder teams resorted to boring box on wheels designs that were completely unentertaining like tornado, if they tried to do something more creative, it'd end up working against them.
Why, what have they ever done to you? Hate is wasted energy, be an adult and appreciate how well built, well engineered and well driven it was, stop being a child.
I don’t hate Tornado, it’s a fantastic machine I’m just not a fan of the team, as they start to get a bit cocky later on. But overall it’s an amazing machine
I am so triggered how everyone pronounces Gemini as "gemin-eye" I mean, this is has always been the only and correct one for me th-cam.com/video/c9CYT-vezbY/w-d-xo.html
From the look of it, they modelled the creature after an inhabitant of Rhyl
AGAIN! "Steg 2 uspet the odds...". They were GRAND. FINALISTS. IN. SERIES. 3.
Only gifted it due to a shoddy decision by the judges screwing gravedigger over
@@adrianyoungs8166 in your opinion. Gravedigger was a poor Cassius clone.
@@kaledmasterme Cassius clone or not, it was much more aggressive and more controlled.

Gemini vs Tornado... both of them deserved semi-finals

Razer is such a GORGEOUS machine, a shame it's so prone to breaking down and/or gettin' pushed around
101 and Razor or like total opposites. Razor is all weapon, no reliability, where as 101 is All Reliability and Durability, but no weapon.
Is it just me or did Berserk 2 look much slower in this series than series 3?

Never noticed the little drawings of robots that Pussycat defeated with little red Xs through them, lol
They had that on the Pullback they released the following year.
Spoilers though, because of that people worked out they got to the final about 8 weeks before it aired
I remember playing GMod with the kid from Gemini, he was a fun guy.
Really?
They both get cool robots growing up.. that’s pretty awesome.

@@florix7889 more than 55% of the robot has to be imobilised so in this situation as they are 50% each both would need to be imobilised

How is Team Mace seeded 8? They didn't do very well at all in the previous war weren't they literally out after one fight?
