    So one interesting thing you missed. They used beastgrip pro, and in most of the bts footage the piece that holds the lens is below the iPhone lenses, as if they didn’t use it... but some it’s been moved, which makes me think they did use some external lenses or filters.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually pointed out the Beastgrip! :) It’s possible they used some filters like a polarizer maybe, but none are shown in the BTS that I saw.

    This is full of practical insights --thank you. To clarify: the staccato look is no ND filters + high (60?) fps shooting and playback? Or something else? Thanks again.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No ND filter and high shutter speed, not frame rate. To get proper motion blur use the “180° shutter rule”. So 24 FPS would be 1/48 shutter. Or 30 FPS would be 1/60 is shutter. And so on. Thanks for watching!

    Is that an hdmi out to those field monitors? I’m going to be shooting a film this year for our amateur dramatics society and will be using my 550d(t2i) and my iPhone 7, this channel is giving me bags of confidence.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it is. They’re using the Apple HDMI to Lightning adapter. Then they’re sending that signal wirelessly to other monitors likely using a Teradak or similar wireless video system. Thanks for watching! Good luck with your project.

    Perhaps you might consider adding Mavis to your favourite film making apps as it is designed to work well with the Smooth4 gimbal and it seems to offer all the LOG setups you have on Filmic...Cheers

    EXCELLENT analysis. However very few iPhone shooters have a crew of 20 or so, and Terradeck monitors, high power lights, smoke and snow machines and a bunch of such great young actors, to work with.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely. But you don’t need all that to tell a similar smaller scale story. The techniques and approach would be the same. Thanks for watching!

    Hey man, great video, I want to ask if there is a way to record directly to a hard disk or a sdcard or we have to copy it everytime, I have the 11 pro and I'm trying to make a movie with that the problem is i got a 64gb version

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With the 15 Pro series you can now to an SSD or SD card via USB-C, but not with that version. But once you upgrade you can definitely do it. Thanks for watching!

    Enjoyed the break down...question: How are they using external monitors that are shown a few times. Is it wireless? I don't see lightning cables to a monitor. I presume this all means they capture all sound separately from the shooting phone and then sync in post.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re using a Lightning adapter to send an HDMI signal from the phone wirelessly - likely using a Teradak or similar wireless video system. And yes, they’re doing double system sound and syncing in post. But it sounded like pretty much everything was done with foley and sound effects and looping by the actors (probably very noisy on set).

    How do you think they got the anamorphic look if they are not using filmic pro. Crop marks on the Iphone?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They just letterboxed in post-production. And while shooting the monitors likely had framing marks on them (sometimes even gaff tape), or often you just wing it and you can reposition the shot in editing.

    • @iphoneographers

      Yes, but it won’t look desqueezed when shooting and you’ll have to do that in post (it’ll look stretched top to bottom).

  • @dcloud

    Im guessing they mastered in 1080p so they probably shot the 120fps slowmos in 1080

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s possible. But they only talk about 4K 60fps in the BTS and HD 120fps is usually noticeably softer. There is a lot of high frame rate stuff going on though.

    Amazing breakdown, thanks for this. I personally disliked the look of this commercial when I first saw it, and now I dislike it even more seeing how much high end production there is behind this poor result. IMO it looks pretty bad. The girl’s eyes seem to have been brightened in post and look fake. Sharpness is over the top and looks very digital. When the girl is running her hair looks has that sort of watercolour effect. Depth of field is too much in almost every shot and there is too much going on in the frame, too much snow, smoke, trees, people... so it’s super distracting and video-looking. There is a shot when the girl pauses and catches a snowball, that shot looks specially terrible.
