I rarely comment on videos but this was exceptional Brady. Great content, helpful, simple, useful for local churches, creatively explained, full of value, well-paced. Just absolutely spot on - keep it up!
Thank you, thank you for explaining not only these accessories but also explaining the various alternatives to working around using the equipment you already have and the resolution/storage setting that will work for each! Valuable! Valuable! Valuable!
Great tutorial! I’ve started using the Blackmagic app more and DaVinci, so this should come in very handy as I continue my education in the audio/video realm for my church. Thanks for sharing these tips.
I had a chat with some creators on Threads about the native ISO for Apple LOG. The only clear consesus I got was to shoot lower ISOs to reduce noise. Nice to see you all did some tests to figure out some specific numbers. I'd also add for anyone that's interested in that FilmBox to also give Scatter a try (another plug-in from the same folks who made FilmBox). It allows you to artificially mimic literally any lens filter out there (ie. Black ProMist, GlimmerGlass, Black Satin,). I imagine that would also be cool to add to iPhone footage.
Thank you so much. However the majority of our church content is captured in low light or of people in building. I would love to see a similar video examining that type of church videography. Thanks again for everything you invest in helping us do this better.
Thanks for this video especially the quick blackmagiccam tutorial. I hope you enjoyed your visit to norway; i've recently been there last year too. As a german guy, norway is not too far away from my home country. I really enjoy your videos for the tips and hints for improving small church social media content like mine. Just a quick question: Which microfone are you using for the excellent audio in your videos? Greetings 😀
Norway was a blast! Using the Sanken COS-11D as a wireless lav mic underneath my shirt. It's plugged into the DJI Mic 2 which is transmitting audio directly to the camera.
Great having you here in Scandinavia🙌🏼 Hope you enjoyed some Swedish meatballs and a Swedish fika with cinnamon buns while visiting, it’s mandatory😅 Superb video, always learning something! Even tho it’s great with the handles or a gimbal I think the iphone performs very well handheld, especially with 60fps setting on.
The Swedish meatballs were divine! Had to order them a second time. Had the best cinnamon and cardamom buns I've ever had when we arrived in Stockholm at Lillebrors Bageri. Sill thinking about those.
Would you have a version of this video for an android such as a Samsung or Pixel? My whole church tech team uses android so I get tech help if I have an android phone myself.
The Blackmagic Camera App recently came to Android! So most of what we covered in that section is relevant to Samsung and Pixel devices. The composition section is universal of course. The color grading section will work for you as well. Only thing would be knowing the specifications of the sensor on your phone and how to get the most out of it.
Different question - what microphone are you using on the camera to record this video? I noticed there was no lapel mic or anything like that on you. I'd love to know what you used to shoot this video, and specifically what mic you used to capture the audio, because it's wonderful. That's my biggest struggle outside of the studio environment - what mic to use to record outdoors, traveling, around the building, etc. Is the mic mounted on your camera? I assume you used a DSLR to shoot the footage? I'm currently using a Sony A7 IV in the studio to record things for church. We have a RODE VideoMic NTG Hybrid Analog/USB Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone AND - is there a mic you can use with your iphone to capture great sound?
I’m so happy you asked this question. Because I’ve been frustrated with our audio quality lately in these videos and did a bunch of testing to prep for this trip. I am wearing a lapel. It’s under my shirt. Sanken COS-11D plugged into a DJI Mic 2 that’s wireless transmitting to the camera. The DJI Mic 2 also comes with an attachment for smartphones so you could use this same setup with a phone.
The mics themselves are fine. The form factor is great. And the wireless transmission and being able to flawlessly connect it to the camera is what I love.
@@prochurchtools Excellent! By the way - love this series. We shot 8 months worth of worship services on our iPhones during Covid, and it really opened up our eyes to what you can do with them. Thanks for all your hard work to show all of us even more of what we can do!
It's a more complex codec to interpret than ProRes. Depending on your computer's capabilities, a single 1080p file on a timeline might playback fine. A 4K clip might not. Add some color grading. Some keying. Some effects. Stack multiple streams of footage. Now the playback maybe isn't so smooth. It's not about a single clip versus a single clip, but the cumulative effect when your original codec is harder to convert.
@@joshkrueger3944 You may have an earlier edition iPhone that doesn’t have Apple LOG. Which first became available on the iPhone 15 if I’m not mistaken.
My "to do" list just got longer, but in a really good way!! This is THE BEST content for church media folks!
Very kind 🫡

Absolutely nuts that a phone can help make something that looks that good.
It's really remarkable.

This video is CHOCK-FULL. Thanks for holding nothing back!
Ah rough. Small rig not delivering to Australia at the moment. Loving the look of that setup!
That's strange. Too bad. I wonder why.
Follow up -- If you have an iPhone 15 (not pro max) can you still use one of the ND filters?
Love the VLOG style educational vids y’all are making. Keep up the great work Brady!

Great video - what did you use for your high arial shots? I liked the clarity of those.
Those were the DJI Mini Pro 4.
First to comment.
Thank you Brady for helping church media.
Appreciate your support!
In Color Space, “Apple Log” doesn’t show up as an option. Not sure why? What would you recommend as the next best choice? Thanks Brady! 🙏🏽

can you plz raw video in download colorgrading learning.
I'm noticing some halation on the shots at the park bench. Did you guys add a mist filter to the rig?
When I’m talking to the camera? Yeah, that’s the Cinebloom 20%.
What font do you use for your Titles. It's cool like an old cinematic thick font. Thanks

Hey Brady,
What if we don’t have an iPhone that has Apple Log? How should I use CST in DR when Apple Log isn’t on iPhones 14 and Below?
In that case, you wouldn’t need to use CST in Resolve. And using Filmbox, you can just select Rec.709 as your source.
