WOW! It worked. Thank you very much. So far the check engine light has stayed off so I'm thinking replacing the purge valve is what was needed. I had a little more trouble removing the hoses than he did. I broke the thermistor side hose connection. Oops. So I pretty much had to change the purge valve at that point. Got my part at Auto Zone using the part number he gave us. The "harness" is attached to the hose mounted to the left of the purge valve by way of 4 small tie wraps. Not really sure that it's needed, but I put it back anyway. Thanks again for your help!
Mine threw the same code and I've at least looked past that sensor 1,000 times. I was thinking Ford hid it near the intake but thank God I found this video
@@Madasin_Paine dang it's been a minute. I wanna say it was P1443? Mine gave symptoms of random high idle, sudden shuttering and running poorly. Honestly for what it may be worth just replace both sensor and purge valve while you're there. Havent had that problem since
do you have any idea what ford part number the front hose it? the hose that goes from 1/4 to 3/8? I cant even find an elbow that works to connect those 1/4-3/8 at my local hardware stores. I found one a little bigger and filed it down as a quick fix... but i'd really like to get the ford hose but i literally cannot find out what the number is. Maybe ill go the dealer..but would they even have that in stock for a 97?
I had similar issue with this hose being damaged. Went to Ford dealer and they informed me part is no longer supported. Also, asked about the hose on top of the EGR valve, that too is no longer available.
I just used the same line as the dude in the video then took some needlenose pliers and stuck it in the end and kinda stretched it out a bit enough to have a snug fit over the bigger hole. I did that maybe a month ago and it's still holding up pretty well
I Have a ranger and i notice a smell of gas after i drive it, i detect no leaks or drips, a friend suggested it might be the purge valve needs replaced, do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for showing me what it looks like, apparently the previous owner just completely eliminated the valve, wow. Does anyone know if this will cause my truck to run very poorly? It's the only code besides the two downstream o2 sensors, I'm also replacing.
I inherited a 94 3.0 from my grandfather and the house coming off the purge valve going to the engine has been removed and I cannot figure out where it connects, if anyone could help please.
A year late, but the purge valve routes to the pcv with hard plastic tubing on my 94. Mine rubbed against the wiring harness and got a hole. I patched it but can see why it might have been removed especially since direct replacements aren't available. You may be able to fashion something up with fuel line and 1/4" OD nylon tubing
@@bonzaigarden hello, that's actually exactly what I did, I found old vacuum hose blueprints and bought several feet of hose from AutoZone and just started plugging and playing to the blueprints as best as I could
@@jakegregg7153 p1443 is often a broad code for something wrong with the EVAP system. In most instances, yes it is the canister because as with all canisters, they get filled with shit and need replaced. However, it can also be the solenoid/sensor in the EVAP and the best practice is just to replace them both at the same time to ensure it’s fixed. One other thing... often times, the code/check engine light will remain on with an EVAP problem even after you fix the problem until you go out for a drive and get the RPM’s up. Actually pump some emissions through your EVAP before you decide the problem isn’t fixed and stress out. Or just erase the code and see if it comes back lol
Its best to replace the entire evaporator system instead of one part. CANISTER, PURGE VALVE SELENOID, THERMISTOR HOSES including the GAS TANK CAP. To ensure you won't see that p1443 code again for another 10 years.
I don’t know if this will help you 8 months later lol but symptoms are a check engine light, code P1443, a rough idle, bad engine performance especially in situations on hills...etc etc
@@COACHFRANK101 Would this cause it to run lean or be a vaccum leak? I am getting two codes indicating it is running lean. People online say that these two codes are probably a vacuum leak.
I think it will. Mine is running lean and with AC on the acceleration lopes. Somehow when I unplugged the thermistor and plugged it back in, engine light stayed off and acceleration felt much better. Later on it started acting up and light came back on. I'm going to replace all 3 items and see how it goes. I've been driving around for over 3 years with this issue, I can't stand it any longer! Lol

Did you need to reuse the little plastic bullshit inside the hose on the high side when you replaced it with the fuel hose? I broke that piece
Gracias por la aportación. Tengo una pregunta. Como se llama y para qué sirve la pieza que está después de la válvula y que tiene un conector?
Is this the same as the EVAP line?
Any idea where i can get the hoses?
They can cut you any hose length you want at autozone.

Where does the other end of the longer hose go ?? No video on that
it goes to intake manifold

Thank you for showing me how to change it out!! Super helpful and something I can tackle.
where is this part on a 2.9 v6??
check for vacuum before replacement
Great video and thanks for sharing. What code did you get that lead you to this repair?
The code I got to lead here was P1443
Great video.
Probably don’t need to order a special hose. Just connect two hoses into each other. Both different diameters
Perfect

I hear that!
