You know exactly what to do! That is how I approach Dragon Fruits that are being "stubborn" and not inducing me buds even though I know they are mature enough! Works every time!
Very smart technique. I have been waiting for flowering since several months after planting.Single stemmed dragon plant grown with out branches for about 6 feet high. Now I proon the tip so as to get more branches and flower buds. Thank you for sharing the technique
I absolutely enjoyed watching your dragon fruits Videos , cause your plants are very healthy and clean ... Also I noticed it your plants have more healthy fat fruits and I just live that ... I can’t wait to start to plant me some one day after I retired from working .... So congrats on your successful dragon plants !!! You absolutely inspired me to plant some ?! 👌⭐️🥰
Thank you for the impormative tutorials about the dragon fruit sir..your Tips about dragon fruit is really helpful.new friend sir watching fr:Philippines👍
Hi I bought a dragon fruit two years ago and it is now in bloom. I had one and I didn’t know how to hand pollinate it so of course it just fell off. I have one that open tonight and I did the hand pollination and I have one more bud that should open in the next couple days and I’ll do the same and I’m praying for fruit. I want to thank you for this video so now I can try and get some more buds on it
I'm in the desert in SoCal, and I planted 7 dragon fruit cuttings on August 23rd of this year, and now I have one little growth on one of them. They seem to be doing fine!
thank you for sharing this video.. it is very insightful. i have a backyard operation here in Nairobi, Kenya. I plan to plant 3 acres in the future.... cheers keep up the good work!
I had a really good budding season this summer here in San Diego, but a majority of them wound up dying/falling off very early instead of developing further. Do you have any suggestions on how to attack this? I figured it was due to the ridiculous heat we had so was thinking shade cloth might be needed? Cheers for all the info!
Hi Luke, buds tend to fall off early because it is a sign that the plant cant tolerate that many buds on them. They will abort themselves to balance out the ratio for them to have energy to focus on the ones that are there. This is totally normal and has nothing to do with you or weather. As they becoming more mature. They will be able to hold onto more buds as time goes.
Hi i am from trinidad west indies..i now came across ur channel..can you tell me what fertilizer to use and what did you use the glue for....thank you.... best channel..keep up your great work.,
Soo happy I ran into your channel. I have a dragon plant and she is about 5ft tall. I don’t know a thing.. 1st time and learning about them. I live in Florida. Saw your trellis thank you for that. Can’t wait for the next phase of my dragon fruit 🙃🤩
Hi Rebeca! Thank you for watching and becoming a new subscriber to my channel. I hope that you find everything you need here to step up your dragon fruit gardening skills. First step is to build a sturdy trellis for them to grow on and the rest will happen from there. Happy gardening! :)
You're very welcome! If tipping them still doesn't produce you buds in the growing season. Then definitely try to give them a boost with some bloom fertilizer to help induce buds.
Hi Richard, thank you so much for all your videos. Your videos seems to work like a charm. I have a question. Can you use floranova and recharge after fruits are set? I want to get more buds and healthy branches. Thank you.
Hi Sergio, I don't have exact measurements but I separate them far enough so that branches aren't shading over each other and still able for me to fit in-between and do my daily maintenance with them.
Interesting! The problem I'm having is that my plant is starting to flower nicely but it ends there. The fruit doesn't take. They start turning yellow and fall off before developing. Very frustrating...
The main reason why this happens is because the variety of DF you have is Self-sterile. It won’t be able to fruit without pollination from another DF variety. Grow another variety and cross-pollinate the pollen with each other. You’ll start to see them stop falling off and produce fruit. You can find info on cross pollination in my channel.
How do you actually tip off your Dragon fruit plant? I tried with my hands, not easy. Do you cut off the tip of the branches? Thank you again Your professional assistance is greatly appreciated. Al P.S. What is the correct stage of the branch for tipping?
I am in an area where I have to bring the plants in on some nights because of the cold. I have a single main branch on 1 of the plants. Should I tip now or wait until next spring to encourage more branches? Thanks.
I live in west central Florida and have a guy down the street that grew dragon fruit ,his plants were going nuts in two years time the plants covered about 30' of wooden 6' fence and were solid green without any yellowing or bad spots , the plants were getting morning light and then the fence blocked the main branches from getting direct light , I've been growing my dragon fruit for 8 yrs and mine were always yellowing and dying off and I was in such envy of this guys plants, his plants were coming over the top of the fence facing a alleyway and had at least 70 to 80 fruit ! People were stealing his fruit and he got frustrated and cut them down and stopped growing them , how often do I need to water and give fertilizer ? I need to talk to this neighbor what ever his secret was I need to find out ! ✌🏻👍🏼.
What is the size of your pot and what’s the make up of your soil mix sorry for asking again if these questions had already been asked do hard to read on a little screen
I planted my dragon fruit, how long it takes for branches to start growing once it planted on soil? I have a long summer in my region so temperates won’t drop until November.
Thank you so much for your video. Could you please do a video or tell us how to shape (tie) the plants? Yours look so neat and beautiful and mine looks like a giant mess!
You may need to manually pollinate the flowers. I suggest taking a toothbrush or makeup brush to pollinate the flowers. Just brush the flower on the anthers and then drag the brush over the middle of the flower, it'll get the pollen into the flowers' ovum and produce fruit.
Hi. I got a dragon fruit plant as a gift. It's just 1 straight segment. I transplanted the 6" pot plant onto a 20" inch pot filled with home made compost; vip treatment! It's been 3 weeks. I don't see any activity/growth/budding. It is super hot right now but it gets partial shade til noon time. Any tips? Thank you so much.
Nice! This is a smart technique. I did a heavy prune of shaded / lower branches + a higher PK fert and that induced for me!

Wow! What an amazing tips you've shared in your dragon fruit. So impressive.
Mine started fruiting as soon as i started fertilizing twice a month with half strength miracle grow. Fruit is huge!
You are right, fertilizer is key.
No matter how much trimming or dancing under the full moon, no fertilizer, no fruit.
Cheers 😀✌

Hi Richard, what is the separation between two pots.

I had several dragon fruit plants in 35 gal containers, on cement like you have here. When I watered them it was staining my cement. Water less? or?
Not sure what you mean by the question. I don’t see my cement block so I can’t advise accurately
I have the pots on a cement patio. When I water them it drains through, and water gets on the cement. Staining the cement.@@GraftingDragonFruit

Can you help me how my dragon fruit can bear fruits so many flowers but it did not continue to become fruits

Why are there no thorns on the plants ?
do you have to pollinate the flowers in order for them to bear fruit? Dont know why my flowers would fall off after blooming.
hi richard, how do you apply your flora nova bloom? do you apply it to the soil or to the aerial area (leafes)?
hi Richard I have problem with pollination I can't find any polin on my flowers what should I do flowers blooming then dying without making any fruits
