My new IKEA kitchen cabinets arrived…54 pieces and 650 lbs., which need to be assembled! Can I do it in a week? For information on the bolder women weekend visit the event page at… www.ireneharlo...
I think your idea for splitting the kitchen on both sides of the front is a great idea, not only esthetically but also for better weight distribution in the van. I admire your willingness to attempt doing things yourself. Not nearly enough people try that these days. We are about the same age, so I understand the frustration with having to slow down because the body protests. Never used to be like that 😕. I'm renovating my house, and I have learned that everything takes significantly longer than I first plan. Oh well, at least I get it done eventually. 🤠 Again, so sorry for your loss of Charlie, but at least he got to see and be in your new van and in that way he will continue to travel with you.
Good luck with your own renovations, I know we’ll both get there…a little achy and tired probably, but with a great sense of satisfaction. Weight distribution was a consideration and I first learned about that when I took a night school course, years ago, on building a floating home. Thanks for your comforting words about Charlie. I love remembering him checking out the bus and he will definitely be with me on my future journeys. 🚐🐶🇨🇦
Sometimes we as older women forget we are not able to do things like we used to and it can get frustrating. Sorry you fell and injured yourself and you must take more care so that you can fulfil this dream. Love your ideas so far and can’t wait until the final reveal. Enjoy the ride as they say!
My gosh, watching the video makes my back hurt too! I'm so glad you didn't hurt yourself too bad falling out. But seriously, I've assembled a full sized kitchen's worth of IKEA cabinets and I know how heavy and overwhelming it can be. Don't be discouraged, you'll get it done before you know it. ❤
I can't wait to see the final version. I know that you have a great vision of what you want. Thanks for taking us on your conversion journey. It will look fantastic when you are finished. Take it easy and don't over do it.
Think you are very brave Zia & what a big undertaking, it all is! Sorry to hear, re your fall also & hope you feel, much better soon. What a blessing, to have friends like Lisa to help you & hope you enjoy, the rest of your kitchen build also. Love seeing Emma 11’s, wonderful transformation taking place & many thanks once again Zia, for taking us along. Take good care of you though in the process, as you have had much to deal with already! xo 😘🚐❤️
Oh no! My heavens. Hope the hip is okay, I need one replaced and have had a knee done 10 yrs ago and am only 67. Sigh love watching and getting motivation for stuff around my house.
Good job Zia, you should be very proud of yourself for making good progress on your shuttle build.. Give yiur body time to heal, and don't hesitate to ask for help.. Take care ,and God speed. You're videos about you, and your journey are awesome ..
Thank you for sharing your building process with us...I appreciate you keeping it real, sharing the things that go as planned, as well as the things that go haywire. I like following along with you because you have a calm, genuine, and comforting vibe, which is something I seek out these days 💛
I'm SO very thankful your friend Lisa came to help you. If I was in your location, I'd offer to help, too. I hope more of your friends will help with the heavy lifting. The older we get, it seems to be more of a challenge. Wishing you many blessings, Zia. ❤
I am so sorry to hear about your back and your tumble. I do hope you're feeling better. It is a lot of work putting Ikea stuff together and in a restricted space like that it makes it even more difficult. I really like your idea of centering the kitchen so you have that living area at the back. Chat soon!
You may want to consider glueing as well? With the movement during travel, they may loosen? We installed a small corner one, and it's screwed, glued and stabled!! Did that 2 years ago, and it is staying strong.
Oh goodness! Falling on a new hip must’ve been terribly painful and frightening! I was scared for you when you said you’d fallen! You are taking on a huge project but you’ll get it done and glad you are accepting some help😮 Good luck next week and keeping fingers crossed for you…good healing
Having the kitchen area on both sides I’m thinking would help with the weight distribution as well…obviously I don’t know the weight of the cabinets you purchased but I’m thinking cabinets can be heavy
I feel for you, I fell on my left hip on the porch last year and I tell you what no matter what I do I feel like my rib and left side is broken. I know it's not but I sure messed something up. Be careful 😢
Sorry to hear you had a fall too and hope you’re better soon! I wasn’t too bad the first couple of days, but I think I must have some deep bruising, because I’ve been sore and a bit stiff ever since. ❤️
Looks very overwhelming with all the boxes right now. Wouldn’t it be nice to just snap your fingers and twirl and see it all put together. It was comforting to hear that your friend helped you get a good head start because it is a lot of work even for the younger generation. Take it slow and easy Zia . Any chance you can go soak in a hot tub or a swim to help your back. Looking forward to your next video .👍🚌🦋
It did look overwhelming and I did try the ‘Bewitched nose wiggle’, to no avail, but things are moving along Sue. A hot tub soak sounds wonderful, but hot showers will have to suffice for now. 🚐❤️🇨🇦
Take us shopping with you! I was looking on Ikea’s website just last week at kitchen cabinets and they are pretty heavy in weight. Oops…just read your message. Wow, I hope that isn’t too much weight. I can’t wait to see them. I do love ikea!
Isn’t funny how our mind forgets that we are not as young as we think we are but bravo to this I have been watching another van lifers video him name is Crome Valdez

Thanks Adelina! I once had a full sized IKEA kitchen, which luckily I didn’t have to put together. ❤️
I can't wait to see the final version. I know that you have a great vision of what you want. Thanks for taking us on your conversion journey. It will look fantastic when you are finished. Take it easy and don't over do it.

Sometimes you just have to let your body heal. No shame in that. Very excited for you as you get back to he build and see your vision come to life.

Lol, me too, at first, but it’s finally coming together!

Thanks for the tip. My son-in-law is going to make some installation adjustments, to insure the cabinets stay where they belong! 😊
My hubby used silicone for glue, gives flexibility.
Just found your channel binged watched most of your videos you do a wonderful job !! 😊
Yay! Thank you so much Mary!
🚐❤️🇨🇦
So admire your ambition!
Thank you Nadine! ❤️

It certainly was a bit of a shock Lori, but luckily no serious injuries. ❤️
I love IKEA too, if there was just a way for it to be lighter. Hope the family showed up for you.
Glad to hear your friend is rehabbing along. Cheers
Thanks Mary Lou and yes, my family did show up. 😊❤️
It’s looking good 🙋🏼♀️
Thanks! ❤️
❤!
Having the kitchen area on both sides I’m thinking would help with the weight distribution as well…obviously I don’t know the weight of the cabinets you purchased but I’m thinking cabinets can be heavy
Yes, they are very heavy, so weight distribution was a concern. The bus can handle the weight, but it will affect gas consumption. 🫤
🚐❤️🇨🇦
So sorry to hear about Charlie
Thank you Joanne. 🐶💔

@@chasingthemoonrv ya mine was last year and still affects me .. get proper rest or rehabilitation
Glad I could help! I’ll be back if you promise to stop doing backflips out the back door 😂
Lol, no more backflips, cartwheels (never could do those!), or handstands!
❤️🤸♂️🤸♂️🤸♂️

I did take some footage in IKEA, but decided to keep things a bit of a surprise. Maybe next time I go there. 🚐❤️🇨🇦
Isn’t funny how our mind forgets that we are not as young as we think we are but bravo to this I have been watching another van lifers video him name is Crome Valdez
Yes, we want to still be able to do what we’ve always done! I’ve watched Chrome’s channel too.
🚐❤️🇨🇦
how are things going?
As of today, things are finally taking shape! 🚐❤️🇨🇦
Wondering you are going to a 'bathroom' area in the bus or just tuck away a toilet?
Hi Liz. I will be tucking away a camping toilet. 🚐🚽❤️🇨🇦
