I recently found your Instagram and love this. I have a friend from Brazil who started to learn English 3.5 years ago. She married an Afrikaans guy 2 years ago and is now learning Afrikaans as well ❤
Hello! Welcome to YT! I’ve been following you on Instagram for about a year and it truly makes giggle. I met my Afrikaans husband while living in Thailand and we just recently moved back to SA. I’ve also been learning Afrikaans and legit have the SAME exact experience as you. The speaking part is definitely the hardest part. Anyways just wanted to say I’ve subscribed and I look forward to videos that you post😊
I’m a South Carolina girl who recently fell in love with my South African man☺️ not sure I’ll ever make the complete move but watching you really gives me hope!:)
Love your channel! I can relate 100%. I'm also in your position just a little bit different - South African who recently moved to Italy and trying to learn Italian.
I hope you can read the following... I will translate for incase... Ek is so bly dat jy die TH-cam kanaal begin het! Ek sien baie uit om jou videos te kyk!!!! Ek 💕 vlogs (ken nie die Afrikaanse woord). Baie sterkte en geniet dit!!!! I'm so glad that you've started this TH-cam channel! I can't wait to watch your videos!!! I 💕 vlogs (don't know the Afrikaans word). All the best and enjoy making the videos!!!
I'm a born and raised South African and I'm sure you know more afrikaans than me 🙈 So well done! I love following you on Instagram. I'd love to see a typical day in your life 😊
Your Afrikaans is really good especially from an accent pov. Really good so vibes you are putting out in your vid. Haha het ook 'n koppie koffie gaan maak. Het in Ermelo groot geword baie naby an Secunda. Hope you keep making vids
Well done on the Afrikaans! As a precious Van Der Merwe...you do us proud! I grew up in a mission family in the Freestate. My father had a Sotho church. English was absolutely terrifying to us when we were small....but look now! One day you'll dream in Afrikaans and realize...wow my brain has snapped this new language! Me and my husband live in the East Rand and we are in full time missions among the Afrikaans people. Blessings on your work!
Your Afrikaans sounds great for a beginner. Don't worry about getting a few words wrong here and there, if you are around it for long enough you'll catch on...
I'm an English South African woman who loves Jesus. Although I have lived here my whole life, my Afrikaans is horrendous!!! In fact, you speak Afrikaans better than I do. I would like to see your walk with Jesus and why you decided to move to SA.
You speak the most amazing afrikaans I have ever heard from any American. Don't mind the critics they can't speak English on your level. Try and learn crazy afrikaans words to baffle them. Like did you know that a mop is called a "Dwyl"" but most afrikaans people use the english word "mop". There are lots of fun words.
Love this
You are so wonderful ❤
One can tell that you're in a truly loving environment, because you're aura brings me so much peace.
@@lu881 that is the unbelievably calming power (amazing that power can be calm!) of the Holy Spirit!

The one thing I thought I'd never see, is a yank living in Secunda 😂

true, that’s like a boertjie in Alabama
Lekker man. The first Afrikaans word you must learn. The you must also be able to say Ons gaan nou braai. Then you are part Afrikaans culture.
Still one of my proudest moments that I’ve called this relationship (now marriage) since day 1 🤍 I love you guys!
