    I am glad that you added the translation of the clips into Arabic. We are following you from the Middle East

      TH-cam must have done that. I didn't even know that was an option. Pretty awesome that it is though. 😃

    An important step that a LOT of people skip. Very nice to see how you detailed the entire process of measuring, remeasuring, and verifying.

    I’m wrapping up my 1FZ refresh soon, and I can’t thank you enough. you can do anything with these videos and a mud account lol. I’m thinking about making some videos to supplement yours in a year or two as I go into my second FZ 👍

    hello. at 6:31 you mentioned one was 'tight', but when you re-checked with the 10-thousandths, you checked the one ahead of it that was good to begin with, or am I seeing that wrong? love the channel by the way. looking forward to getting my "new to me" 80-series down to you at some point!

      It's likely an optical illusion. It's possible I hit the wrong one though. I always check them a few times to make sure I've hit them all.

      Just had an estimate for a head gasket job approved. So maybe I'll do one in the next few weeks.

      OTRAMM how much do you charge for head gasket?

    • @OTRAMM
      @OTRAMM  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd have to double check when I get to the shop, but I'm pretty sure the standard head gasket job is right around 2400. We do some extras while we're in there.

    Ryan, first of all I would like to thank you for making these videos! I have become a huge fan of your channel.. Recently I bought a 1994 Toyota fzj80 1fz-fe Blue Merline and now it needs a cylinder head and exhaust cam. I found a brand new OEM cylinder head with both cams. My question is do I have to adjust the valve clearance of them? The seller says it's READY TO BOLT ON! What should I do? Please help. Many thanks from Australia. Keep up your great work for the 4x4 society.

    • @OTRAMM
      @OTRAMM  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would at least check the clearances . They can change as the head is torqued to a different block.

  • @BillyGoatsAdventures
    @BillyGoatsAdventures 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ryan, thanks for the video
    My compression test came back fantastic and all my valves are also in spec.
    Heard you say you sent the injectors in, I see your intake is still completely assembled can I pull the rail to get the injectors out without pulling the entire intake off.
    It looks like I can pull the fuel rail with the intake still attached, the FSM says different.

    • @OTRAMM
      @OTRAMM  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We do the injectors in house😀. You can pull the fuel rail with the intake still on but it sucks. It's way easier to just pull the upper intake. Less chance of nicking an injector o-ring that way.

      @@OTRAMM thanks 👍🏻 with 300k, while cleaning throttle body, checking valves and hot tanking valve cover should I go ahead and pull the injectors for good insurance?

    Hey Ryan good afternoon
    I'm wrapping up my 1fz complete refresh and my dealers saying that valve shims are unavailable do you have any suggestions on where to find valve shims?
    Thanks

    I'm doing a bench valve clearance test as I have my head off my engine. The first check is done with the single dot marks aligned on the cam gears meshed together. For the second test, would rotating the cams to mesh the double dot marks in the center be the same as rotating the crankshaft pulley one revolution?

    • @OTRAMM
      @OTRAMM  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That sounds like it should work. I've never done them off of the block. There's likely to be some movement in the head as you torque everything down that could throw off the clearance.

    • @csand55
      @csand55 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@OTRAMM Thanks! I'll definitely recheck once the head is torqued down on the block. One more dumb question: a few of the lifter buckets have indents where the top of the valve presses up inside the bucket (on the small machined circle inside the bucket). If the valves have worn indents into the lifter bucket and the clearance is off, would you fix this with a new lifter bucket, reshimming, or both?

    I missed if you mentioned the temp of the engine... warm or cold?

    • @OTRAMM
      @OTRAMM  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The manual doesn't specify to do it hot so I've always done them at room temp.

    Easiest way is make sure the cam lobe are up on what valve you're checking..

    I have a small oil leak on the 4th cylinder the head have a very invisible crack I think this heads are notorious to crack there in that spot - do you have problem with yours?

    • @OTRAMM
      @OTRAMM  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen two with hairline cracks in the head just below the valve cover gasket. No idea what causes them though.
