  • What are the signs and symptoms of chronic HIV and AIDS? When to test for HIV? An infectious diseases specialist explains the clinical clues to AIDS and chronic HIV infection. Patients with chronic HIV infection, especially AIDS, can present with various opportunistic infections and malignancies. As clinicians, we need to recognize these conditions as early as possible because any delay in treatment can result in a disaster. But don't worry! You don't have to learn dozens of AIDS-defining conditions by heart. Many of them present with similar symptoms and clinical findings, so if you understand what to pay attention to, you will be able to suspect chronic HIV and AIDS right away! In this series of videos, you can also learn how to suspect acute HIV infection and how to use and interpret HIV tests. What you learn here will help you a lot in practice! Please feel free to share these videos with other medical professionals and students.

I want to remind everyone that my videos are for educational purposes only. Of course, everyone is welcome to watch, but the information I present is most useful for junior doctors, nurses, and students. As I stated in the description of every video and on my channel homepage, none of this is medical advice for patients. I don't practice medicine over the internet. If you are a patient and have any questions about your health, please get in touch with your doctor.

I am not a patient nor am I doctor, but I like to study Medical Microbiology as a hobby. What about “Staphylococcus Aureus” or “Klebsellia, Pneumoniae” infections for Acute AIDS? Thank You Doctor.

Dr. Osaye, I gave positive to HSV Type 1 (iGg) on December the 16th of 2022 due to unprotected oral sex that I performed on a woman on September the 4th of 2022, on September the 8th of 2022 I ate a really spicy food that it burnt my mouth, my throat and most likely my stomach as well, on December 2022 the H.Pylori bacteria was detected in my stomach through a Stool Test...I'm scared because I'm losing weight without even trying it + something that seems like Fordyce Spots in my lips or Blisters or idk....
Recently I've gone through a blood work to detect HSV Type 1 and 2 and both came back negatives.
I'll be going through an Endoscopy tomorrow March the 8th of 2023 because the very first symptom that I had started on September the 15th of 2022 and it was Sore Throat, less than before but still there.
During October & November I had Rashes on certain spots of my legs and some kind of spasms or seizures that I felt in my spinal cord
Idk if I could be developing HIV or AID
I forgot to mention that sometimes I feel like a needle pinching me in the left upper side of my brain/head.
    HELP PLEASE.

Hi Dr. I tested negative for HIV after 6 months of unprotected sex with a woman. I feel sick everyday for 6 months with pain in the back of my head and pain in my balls. I do not have any skin rash or ulcers. But I also take antiviral medication everyday to help with the pain. Could the Antiviral be hiding skin symptoms ?

I have no symptoms presented on this video, but after mentioning the chronic reoccurring pneumonia, I’m worried about a coworker.
She exvercises regularly, doesn’t smoke/ drink and is 32 years old. Yet has bouts of coughs that last for weeks every year, multiple times a year. Don’t wanna mention this video though, could upset some people.
