Dude! You are awesome! I just wanted to hear what one sounded like and instead I not only heard what it sounded like but got a lot of useful info with some great humor! Thank you! 😁😂😂😂
I literally never heard of this instrument until today. The cantina band bit sold me. Now I freaking want one! You are hilarious. What a marvelous sense of humor you have. Yet you are also a patient and thorough teacher. 👍👍👍
I just got one. I played clarinet in school, but that was over two decades ago. I hadn't touched a reed instrument since -- and it really showed! This is a really nice instrument to start on, though, being rather inexpensive and having no moving parts to maintain.
Great info on the Xaphoon, there are other pocket sax makers as well, with a six hole pattern. It would be nice to here or watch your opinion on the others.
hi, you've played it in different styles, sax, clarinet and jazzy sax.. do you mind showing us how you did that and explain the technique of getting these different sounds out of the instrument?! thank you
@@sandeepmortal To get a more sax like sound hum while playing, to get a more clean sound play softer and with slighty less lip pressure, but dont lose all of the lip pressure or you'll be out of pitch.
Cleaning out my parents’ house as they’re preparing to move, came across this odd little instrument my dad purchased years ago. They were about to throw it away. Not while I’m around! You make it sound so much better than I do. Probably because of the reverb.
Awesome review, Jeremy! I just bought a Xaphoon and I've never played a reed instrument. I was able to get a decent tone out of the box and play melodies after only about 10 minutes of practice. I'm a decent recorder player, so that probably helped. Just struggling a bit to shape the timbre of the tone. The whole dimension of ambouchature is new to me. Anyone has some more in depth videos on how to shape the tone? Overall, amazing value for 65 bucks. I'll have fun with this instruments for years to come.
Great review! When I got my Xaphoon, it didn’t give any instructions. Only a sheet of incoherent musical notes...Thank you very much, Jeremy, as I got some very good tips... I have bought one for myself and and one for my daughter, who used to play the recorder at school. It has a wonderful sound...
You are hilarious me you explain things very well. Nicely done video, I just saw an ad for this instrument and immediately came to YT...yours was the first video I saw. Very thorough, very entertaining, and I'm buying one because of your video. Going to see what else you've done. Thanks.
Great video. I got one of these, and it's incredibly fun. I think the plastic ones are all in C, for other keys the only option (without going for one of the knock offs, although I'm sure they are probably fun too) is one of his bamboo versions.
Terrific review.....I used to play clarinet way back when, but always wanted to pick up a sax...THIS is a nice alternative for me, and just the right size for practice. My Xaphoon is on its way, and I can't wait to start playing music again.
+JeremyKatzMusic Practice is a bit rusty, but getting better.... want to see if I can get good enough to play ONE STEP BEYOND at my niece's wedding in June.... I've got a little time to work on the GROWL.
I almost ordered a $17 mini sacks but some of the reviews said this is so much better... Debating debating debating.. only because I bought so many instruments lately.
Awesome review! You helped me to take a decision to buy one. Thank you, Jeremy! I saw your other videos and you are a very good musician. Keep going in this way! All the best from Russia.
10/10 video. Very informative and comedic. I’m definitely considering buying a xaphoon now
This is seriously one of the best videos I have seen. Thank you for creating it.
5 years later, this is a top notch video.
It is! I just bought one and was looking for some instruction video's, after watching this video I'm eager too play and learn it!
The tequila bit sold me. Lol

Very well done Jeremy. Funny, educational, friendly, clear, and lots of nice tips. Thanks.
This is the best demo of the capabilities of the Xaphoon I`ve found yet.
Love the humour and costumes too and It's a Wonderful World is a great song too. Now I need to learn how to play my xaphoon too.
The best review I found

I'd love to know how he achieves that clear sound and the sax-ish sound.
I wish he did tutorial videos. I couldn't find any on the TH-cam

Breathing styles from your mouth. Looks like it totally.
Hahaha this is such a great review. Funny, and informative. You rock J. Katz.
Great! Humor and knowledge is a good combo my friend. I have ordered the instrument. :-)
Well done. Enjoyed, and remember when Louis Armstrong sang, "It's a wonderful world"

my 6 month old daughter was memorized by your Xaphoon playing. she was smiling and drooling all over her self. :-D
Thanks Ben! Glad you liked it!

A surprisingly good video!! Thanks!
This guy should be hired by companies, to make sale videos, his voice and demeanor are great.
Very good! I already play the recorder ( alto and soprano) , so it will probably be easier to play than the Venova I bought two weeks ago.
Thank you for this highly informative and entertaining video! It helped me decide on buying one as a gift
Thanks! Great work. And impressive playing. 👏 👏👏👏👏
Just what I was looking for -- especially the comparison with a recorder. And funny, too!

+Matt Newby Thank you very much! And thanks for watching and commenting!
You are very good 👍Xaphoon player pl put more video and tutorials.
That cool airy sound reminds me of the Japanese wooden flute which is used when they play music with intentionally “imperfect” notes
