      @Craig Silver I read the comment you are referring to and the spelling was perfect. If you failed to realise the word Babble was the deliberate use of a descriptive term to help people understand the ridiculous nature of what is contained in the ancient fairy tale, that is the mainstay of Christianity then you are beyond help.

      @Craig Silver We understand the supernatural very very well thank you. YOU may not understand it. But science does as science created the word. Supernatural is made up of Super and Natural. This means NOT NATURAL. So super natural simply means not in nature. Seeing that nature encompasses all universes anything that is supernatural is NOT of our universes and thus DOES NOT EXIST.
      If we consider a reported supernatural event. What this means is someone witnessed an event that THEY cannot explain. If experts in the related fields are brought in and they CAN explain it the event is no longer supernatural - it is now natural.
      So any person claiming to witness a supernatural event they are actually saying to the world - I saw something I did not understand.
      Why would anyone need Jesus to understand words in a book written by men? Millions of scholars have researched the Bible and have a much better understanding of it than 99.999% of priests and preachers. The vast majority of those scholars come to the same conclusion - there is no evidence that the Bible is even an accurate statement of the time let alone a literally accurate work. It is full of contradictions and scientific inaccuracies and mistakes. Exactly what you would expect from a book written by men that knew the science of the time.
      if it was in any way literally the words of an infallible all knowing God then it would contain amazing knowledge that was not known by the educated of the time. It contains NONE of this knowledge.

    • @VestigialHead
      @VestigialHead 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @Craig Silver I have NO FAITH in anything. Why would you assume I have faith? Faith is believing in something you have no evidence for. My entire life philosophy is exactly opposite of that. I only believe in things I have evidence for. So do not push your problems onto me. Just because you may be suffering from Faith does not mean everyone is.
      Describe even one thing I said that is a complete lie. Just ONE.
      How is the unseen realm proven. Give me one actual proof. Just ONE.

      @Jesus Christ Glorified the point is that he doesn't make paying a necessity to see his content.
      And what do you mean by ignorant?
      The only thing I could think of as ignorant is him insisting that scientific theories be taught as fact. That is completely unnecessary, since we don't need to take this very humble aspect of science away in order to reek the benefits of them. It distracts from the fact that we're supposed to try and disprove our theories so that we can make a new better one.
      But even then, he makes up for it by talking about how we should try to disprove it even if it seems impossible.
      So with that removed since it isn't that bad. What does he do that is ignorant?

      Science can answer any question for which there is testable answers. That already encompasses anything we can possibly know.

      Now, America has become a strange mixture of Idiocracy (the mockumentary), and theocracy, ruled by the rich, and the population repressed by religious.......tyranny?
      Wanna-be tyranny?
      Something like that, anyways.
      We Canadians poke you guys, make jokes at your expense (as you guys do about us), but we're family, and family can do that without intending to actually hurt each other.

    I watched the moonlanding live as well, as a seven year old. My mother was opposed to it, but my father magnanimously allowed it. I had to sleep in the guest room before it happened because it was considered not worth taking the risk of waking my brother and mother. They would have seen something interesting, heaven forbid. That would have been intolerable. Decades later, my mother still thinks I am the most boring creature in the observable universe because I am interested in such things. To make things even worse, no improvement is in sight, as I am still incapable of understanding why the sexcapades of whatever celebrity are so much more interesting and worth following.
    Just saying: blatant disinterest in what surrounds us is certainly not a Texan exclusivity. It exists in self-declared cultured and superior Belgium as well, sadly.

    I have many heroes. Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein,, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, and my own father to name a few. You Mr. Ra have become my latest. Someone I can point to and say, "I want to be more like him". In your thoughts and words and deeds you have shown me what a real American Patriot is. I have only just discovered you and your lectures here on TH-cam in the last 2 weeks, and am proud to say you have influenced my thoughts and beliefs in a profound way. I'm a 53 year old Gay White man who has for the past 35 years held progressive views about society and social conditions, so I'm not a "convert" or anything like that. Yet, you have managed to inspire me to do some very critical thinking about the fallacies of religion, creationism, theism, and the cultural and social norms I had become complacent with or blindly accepting of. Thank you for being here, thank you for what you're doing, and thank you for helping me to unravel some of the brainwashing I've endured at the hands of our rulers and overseers. I hope to hear many more thoughts and ideas from you, and look forward to the new videos you produce in the future. You're providing a much needed service to our community and Nation.... peace to you, man!

    • @helenohenzo2239
      @helenohenzo2239 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      there is no standard w/o God to judge anything, there would be just nature, no bad no good, no moral no immoral... as atheist you cant say evil, that makes you a false atheist, and person whos using theism to make sense of reality

    • @ascarletrequiem
      @ascarletrequiem 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      I don't think you understand the word Atheist. Atheism means simply that I lack belief in a god. It is not a code of ethics. It has no attached guidelines.
      At any rate, I think your view is a bit myopic with regards to humanity. There is certainly no universal standard because there are many cultures with many different cultural norms. However, even before Christianity became a popular system of belief people were capable of differentiation between that which impacts them negatively and that which impacts them positively. This is why there are certain norms and values that are cross cultural.

    AronRa, you so eloquently put my thoughts into words in ways that I could never emulate. I too watched the moon landing as a youngster and was awed. My son's friend who was attending a local catholic high school came over talking about how her science teacher was discussing that the moon landing was a conspiracy. I initially thought "good for that teacher, educating the class about stupid conspiracy theories and everything that goes along with them". However, she felt that he was serious, so I directed her to information to debunk that nonsense and I thought all was good when she received an A+ on her essay and told her so ..... until later when she showed me her exam where he had marked her wrong for stating that the moon landing was not a hoax. So, I marched over to that school and showed her exam to the principal. Fortunately, she took action, but I was appalled to learn that almost all of the students had swallowed the conspiracy theory. This just goes to show how powerful a teacher's influence can be and how we are failing to teach basic reasoning skills in our schools. Every day, I am more and more demoralized as although we are supposed to be living in the information age, it seems more and more that we are living in the misinformation age. After travelling to the Southern Hemisphere and renting a telescope for two nights to observe the wonders of the southern skies that I can never see from my home, where all my favourite constellations were upside down and I could see the stars wheeling around the South Celestial Pole, what I have to say to flat Earthers is go outside, look up, go look through the telescopes of your local amateur astronomers who love to share and talk to them, and if you still think the Earth is flat after that, you can go #$%k yourselves. What you do AronRa is vitally important. Respect.

      @@seanmichaels8060 Real-life Ratcliffe was a lot less of a mustache-twirling villain and more of just a general incompetent leader. His two biggest failures were making poor trade deals with the natives, resulting in a food shortage, and then using most of the manpower of Jamestown to build a governor's mansion in the woods during said food shortage. There also were accusations of him hiding food for himself, although he apparently claimed it was for his sick children.
      He also had one of the most gruesome deaths in the history of America. Was duped along with 14 other colonists by a hostile native group into what they thought was a trade deal. After his fellows were ambushed and slain, he then had all of his skin cut off and burned in a fire before his now skin-less but still very much alive body was burned on the stake.

      Besides having one's (own) wish granted, the joy of giving another (person) happiness, that itself is greater than a wish granted, if one has risen to that plane of human evolution when one can enjoy pleasure with the pleasure of another, when one can feel satisfaction in the satisfaction of another, when one can be happy in bringing happiness to another. No one will give another happiness and will not have the same come to him a thousandfold. There comes a stage of evolution in the life of man when he feels more satisfied by seeing another person satisfied with food than by his having eaten it himself, when he feels comfortable in seeing another person comfortable, when he feels richly adorned by seeing another person clothed nicely; for this stage is a stepping-stone to the realization of God.
      Human beings living in their shells are mostly unaware of the privilege of life and so are unthankful to the Giver of it. In order to see the grace of God man must open his eyes and raise his head from his little world. Then he will see -- above and below, to the right and the left, before and behind -- the grace of God reaching him from everywhere in abundance.
      A person who is loved by everybody in the world, and yet if he has not loved anybody, he has done nothing. A person who has possessed the wealth of the whole world, but if he has given nothing, he has not earned. A person honored by everyone in the world, but if he has not respected, he has not lived. What does it mean? It only means that what we gain is nothing, it is what we give that counts. It is nothing -- what has been done to us -- if only we did all we wished to do, that is what counts. Either learning or wisdom, position or power or wealth, all these things gained are very small compared with what one can give to the others.
      I don't know if you even can read or understand but I wish you wake up / have great life / please wake up

      I can't find these supposed historical records. That's why I asked in the first place.

      The documents in that time period are spotty at best. A lot of it is up to interpretation which is the problem to begin with.
      One of the few known facts is that she died in March of 1617 making her 20-21.
      John Smith died in 1609 so this would make her 12-13 when she last saw John Smith. This alone should point out that there are massive flaws with the romanticized version.
      She was (pick one: captured/imprisoned/held hostage) in 1613 so that would make her 16-17 and was married to John Rolfe in 1614 (likely as a condition of her release)
      So far this is just the information which all sources agree upon. The specific details are not well documented and the sources are contradictory leaving a lot of room for interpretation especially knowing that the story has been so heavily romanticized and altered over time making a lot of it untrustworthy at best.
      The Mottaponi's account is that many people who accompanied Pocahontas (if not Pocahontas herself) were SOLD as servants or carnival attractions. This was very commonly documented in "historical record" for other areas and native american tribes. I'm sorry there's no definitive source but it isn't a far stretch to conclude she was a slave or captive which was married under duress.
      Keep in mind the scary undertone throughout this talk is that people can and will re-write history. In 400 years will our decedents debate whether history was the way it is or the way the Texas GOP paints it? It's a scary thought but this is very much how much of history is. Much of history is a court case where we have to filter the truth out of multiple records which are often mutually exclusive.

      We all know the age-old adage, "The pen is mightier than the sword." Or as they say, "History is written by the victor."

      Fleets Enema one if these two sides denies evolution, affirms angels are real, denies climate change, attempts to limits rights to minority groups (LGBT), nominated the worst human being to ever hold the office of president who obvious colluded with a adversarial nation during his campaign, and have continually pushed for less regulation even when it causes economic collapses like those of 2008-2009.
      Sorry your are equivocating.

      So just because the left has issues he can't point out the issues of the right? The issues of the people currently in power? Is this not what they call the tu quoque fallacy? Just to be clear, I am not trying to dismiss or defend the actions of the left. I am simply trying to point out how it is not wrong for Aron to call out Trump's mistakes.

      No. The Left has issues, but they are FAR outweighed by the faults of the Right. The Right is opposed to taking steps to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, they're opposed to equal rights for people who are not straight, white, or Christian, they want to impose Christian doctrine through government laws, they oppose common sense gun laws that EVERY other developed country has, they propose belief as an authority over science, and they make a habit out of rewriting history to suit their agendas and feeding that propaganda to children in the form of "education." The two are most certainly not equal.

      To be sure, the Left does have it's issues... But please ignore the pimple long enough to remove the tumour, because while the one is annoying as fuck, the other will actually kill you.

      Mike Kaminski yeah while one denies climate change and promotes oil and fracking, the other side says it's real and promotes oil and goes around the world promoting fracking. Republicans deny equal rights, and the other side says they're okay with equal rights only after the Supreme court said so. And why don't people question WHY Trump was picked over Clinton? How bad did Clinton have to be to get Trump in office? And the guy that would wipe the floor with trumps hair, the dnc cheated in every way to keep that guy from going into the general. And also that Russiagate narrative was debunked already, so stop spreading lies, we know the speed the files were downloaded at and it's impossible unless it's literally downloaded with a usb. And the 2008 crash has different causes, a big one being Bill Clinton repealing Glass-Steagall, and then the Bush tax cuts, which Obama made permanent, and then bails out those bankers with a billion dollar bonus to continue exactly what they were doing before. Obama didn't do SHIT about those 5.1 million people that were kicked out of their homes and be homeless because of wal street. I can go on and on about the terrible shit they've done. But I do agree, just like Most Chomsky said, the Republican party is the most dangerous organization in human history. But that doesn't mean do apologetics for the dems, what needs to happen is remove money from politics and elect populist left people that are working for the people's interests. Which if you look at the statistics, that is single payer, taxed paid college tuition, getting out of war, and removing money from politics. And with 8 years of Obama, isn't it weird that literally the opposite that all of those happened, even under democratic majority controlled Congress. Its proven that we arnt a democracy, but am oligarchy, and that's thanks to the democrats too. And last point is the the democrats were the ones who put Trump in office. Wikileaks showed that Clinton wanted Trump to be propped up on the media non stop because she thought she would win against him, and Clinton was such a bad candadite that 20% of people that voted for Obama voted for Trump, and that's because he ran on populist left ideas such as healthcare for everyone and getting out of war and anti Nafta, obviously he was lying but at least he gave lip service.
