I like the way the opal card readers are integrated into the overhead lights and signs, much more sleek than the shoehorned readers on the Dulwich Hill line :D
Phil do you know if the 3rd rail charge foot is down all the time or they are catenary free or is it rapid charge whilst at stations as I understand it..
The 3rd rail only power up when the tram is totally covering it. You can find more about it by searching "Alstom APS". The system that charge the tram in the station is named SRS
I can see so many people are gonna get hit on that bit of track its so open and has little warning from trams coming around the corner. I hope people just don't walk and look at their phone while crossing that bit of road.
whats with the poles on the side of the road was it meant to be overhead powered and then changed to the 3rd rail tech last minute? it's kinda odd with them polls unless they are used for something else?
All electric remote controlled by either the Tram operator or back at the control room. Points machines can be manually changed with a points bar also.
Will they be extending the platform cover at Circular Quay, and maybe shade sails attached to all those poles near the third platform? Or doesn't it rain at CQ? On a lighter note, love watching those 'trams' snake around those twirly bends....pedestrians beware!
Cooper Troopa between Town Hall and Circular Quay there is a third rail in between the tracks and that's for the power. Pretty much it's the same thing with the New York Subway and London Underground
Can you do a Part 2 to Newcastle Interchange and Dunmore Station in its current condition pls (PS: the pronunciation is Rowan train vlogs, just the way my name is spelt) :D
awesomedumbvideoidea popus I’m certain the reason he’s been filming these trams lately is because he probably has plans to attend the first day of service, but I know he has a history of living in the Eastern Suburbs, as the southern Eastern Suburbs are where these trams are going to.
I think Nichole is right, that's just near where he lives so it's convenient to film. Also, He has a huuuuge backlog, I doubt you've watched everything already?
That McDonalds at Circular Quay is going to get even busier now with the trams stopping at its doorstep.
@poida Oops, I'd forgotten that, good point.
All they need to do now is convert the Opera House into a tram shed and we’d have gone full circle.
Crosshead1 brilliant idea. Finally get some use out of the Opera House
great video :)
Super video!
Nice video Sydney trains vlogs and I subscribed to you since when because I'm a Australian 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

poida wait, like, a good design award for the old stainless steel erections?
Excellent coverage as always, Phil. I'm sorry I couldn't be there due to being on Night Shift the previous evening.
Thank you Mr Paul! :)
All good, we’ll scour the CSELR soon :)
Great video
Great video, can’t wait for those mobikes to vanish. (PS I’m all for cycling just not those dockless bikes)
Look forward to the opening in December.Just before the holiday period 👍
I was watching these Trams on the same day! I didn’t see you though🙁
Not much of a buffer stop at the end of the track. At the Kingsford terminus there are massive concrete blocks.
Wonder if eventually the Light Rail will progress further to Bondi Beach, via The Domain?

Don't know why 60 years ago they rip the tracks out and and 60 later they put the tracks back in
At the time they wanted buses to replace trams
Yeah pretty much
Good to see the trams are back but should of kept them in first place
Yeah

〈Block Gaming〉 poles?
Just continuing the theme of the new install, its just area lighting to ensure there are no dark areas on the alignment
How are the crossovers operated and by who ? In the old tram days there was a slot in the tracks operated by a hook on a pole.

@2:56 Ibis (a.k.a bin chicken) on the light rail tracks.

Do the trams get electricity from the ground?!
Pretty much.
Between Town Hall and Circular Quay these trams get their electricity from a third rail.

Pretty cool thank you
Cooper Troopa your welcome happy to help
Does anyone know how the third rail works? Obviously it’s not live or pedestrians would get electrocuted when they walk on it.
Where does the trans stop from overhead power?
Town Hall
after Town hall it switches to APS

It's obvious majority of the stations are a mess and not completed to the satisfaction of the tax payers.
Patience
Coke-a-Cola colours i see.did not who their sponser was till now.
FIRST!!!
Can you do a train video next video cuz trams are getting really boring
